In this video I will show you the emergency Electrical power source available onboard which act as emergency power backup in a black out or completely power shutdown schenerio in a ship.
That's is called as Emergency generator which is the smallest generator as compare to another main generator available onboard,However it is more then enough to supply emergency power to all the critical equipments which are very important to control the ship.
What will you do if there is a sudden power cut in your house ,I think nothing much except lighting up the candle if there is no emergency power source available like ups inverter or Diesel Generator.
Same situation can occur Onboard ship as well.Although we have plenty gen set to generate and meet the electricity demand on ship but still there could be situation when these source can failed which cause black out in a ship means totally loss of power and control of the ship.
In this case Emergency gen. start automatically and provide back power to the essential equipments but if this failed to start then someone has to go and start manually so let's go and learn all about the starting procedure of emergency generator.

How many days this generator will work????
This is emergency generator which supply back up power.once we fixed the problem on the main power system and manage to recovered power system online.We can stop this emergency generator.
As per the emergency generator regulations
The minimum fuel oil tank level should be 2.8cubic meter which make this generator capable of running minimum 18hours on 100% load. I hope you got your answer well
