We don't call our elders by names our Culture. The Name Nandi can be translated as "ENTICING" or "NICE". When Shaka went pass by the Place which is now called Amanzimtoti he Drank water and they were enticing.. since we cannot call our elders by their names, he couldn't say "Amanzi amNandi" which with translation says "these waters are enticing or nice" that would have been disrespect towards the Queen, his Mother . He had to come up with a Substitute Word for Nandi and opted for "amtoti" which also means nice or enticing. That's how the name AMANZIMTOTI came. And that's how Queen Nandi and Amanzimtoti are Linked.. I hope you understand

(um-tu!/ ixha-tu! ) King siShaka was not as dark as he is portrayed, he was very light in skin tone because of the blood of these first people carried through by amaXhosa-na (khosana - Khoisan). A Makhosana abantwana beNkosi, Sana means child. The Khoisan were called aBantwana be Nkosi meaning the first people. Inkosana is known to be first born child of a King.
