• Voice of the Tempest |...
In the first version, I accidentally drew Sam Riegel's character as Scanlan and not Taryon. (Seriously, I don't know how I screwed it up this bad.)
I think my favorite part of any derailed Critical Role moment is Taliesin's hysterical laughter in the background.
Lol, same
SO FUCKING TRUE XD His laughter sounds like a dying crow and it's GLORIOUS
@@magiv4205 Speaking of, have you seen Taliesin's crow voice? It's uncanny!
@@SightUnseen555 I have and it is just beautiful
"We're going to kill everyone we see in the next ten seconds." Best line ever.
Grog's immediate reaction was to kill everyone and everything and I love that.
Katie McGowan murderhobo 101
No one will notice if theres no one to notice.
that's grog's principle same as people not giving him knowledge he wants.
The Hitman way. No one will notice if theres noone left to notice

Constitution saving roll = saving himself from throwing up
_Ends up throwing up after walking outside._
I also wanted to throw up over some gangmembers to avoid or start a barfight, whatever the bandit would've decided. But made my con save, so sadly, my character was just gagging in front of four angry gangmembers. One fell down trying to knee my face and I grabbed one guy to knock another prone, then went out to go sit with our wolf. He didn't remember anything, but we have yet to go back to that bar.
This is one of the better animations of this scene I've seen
This has to be the funniest scene I've ever watched....twice. cried laughing both times! Lol, dead.
I've watched it 4 times now, and it still hasn't got old!
I think the noodly panic arms were my favourite part.
WildfireMagni I do that in real life
XD
It's very Home Movies style. And I'm down.
Doty's interpretation of "protecting" Taryon is a pretty good parable for the dangers of advanced A.I.
That does it. Critcal Role has just made my list of animated television series' that should DEFINITELY happen!
Yes! Dreams do come true!!😭
Check out Goblins Animated on Indiegogo. I think 5 more days left? Matt Mercer is in it along with others from our childhood cartoons.
but who would we get to voice the characters?
BiggySn1p3r. I can't believe I'm only just now seeing this comment!
Caloom aren't the players professional voice actors?
CoffeeCupGoodness yep, that was the joke I was going for
The dice rolling animation was awesome XD
AnkokuEvangeline "17, PUKE ON THE FUCKING GUARDS!"
Spaceman 1256 vomit on those bitches
They missed the best part of this though.. When they leave the store Tayron Darrington pukes on the ground lol
Oh okay. I was wondering why he didn’t puke after rolling a 20
Gale Stoneheart the roll was to prevent puking. so the 20 was what he didnt want
".......niiine" :|
Nein!!!
No, this is Vox’(something)
Partial Bullet machina
3:40 there it is
N E I N
3:44 wait did my headphones break again
*fiddles with the headphone plug* wait
*goes back a few 20 sec* oh its the video
Thank goodnes.
yeah, I hate when that happens
im still very concerned
I thought the same thing...
Use the left headphone it works
The "nobody panic" arms are the best!
This animation is why I started watching Critical Role, and I just got to the episode where this happens... hilarious.
Same now for me xD
0:56 you can here Mercer’s sanity slowly dripping away
My only CRITicism is that you didn't include them going outside where Tary immediately vomits.
or using the sword to gag himself.
i love the way you did the dice rolls. never seen that in an animatic before, its really cool :)
The noodle arms are killing me. :D
I really wan to have an episode where Matt just finishes what happens to many of these characters after Vox Machina leaves. There are so many gems that are like this!
Julian Gan I haven't. But I anticipate great things
@@perigrin6 Well the shopkeeper was forced to teach Grog how to read.
I just wanted to comment to say that this was my first introduction to critical role back in early 2020, when I overheard my partner watching it and laughing, and HAD to see what was going on. I didn't even know how D&D worked back then, but now I've watched all the campaigns and am such a fan, but STILL always come back to this animation!!! We literally quote "for the rest of the day" maybe on a daily basis. Best first introduction to something EVER. Thank you!!
Honestly, same! About five years ago I stumbled upon this video and I was laughing so hard. I got curious about what Critical Role was and D&D. Thus, here I am, back to watch this master piece it again.
"17! Puke on the fucking guards!!"
IM CRYING THIS IS BEAUTIFUL
grog is the best critical role character
Jester is pretty cool.
2:48 to 2:52 best moment ever!!! PUKE ON THE FUCKING GUARD!!!
vomit on those bitches =D
That sheer fucking chaos from the shouting and laughing, oh my god I can't breathe!! XD
17!!!! PUKE ON THE FUCKING GUARDS!!!!
I was very proud to put the captions in, for that.
I've watched this scene several times from different sources every time and loved it. But it wasn't until this one, just now, that I realized the series of events lends itself to the idea that because Sam had Tary push the shopkeep's buttons, Matt may have said "well then, Doty is gonna get into some shit"; after all, if they had just taken it and left, there wouldn't have been an opportunity for Matt to narrate the sounds and the entrance of the pseudo-golem. This whole golden moment may have never happened had they not pushed for gift-wrapping.
This is the video that got me into Puffin Forest. Ah, memories.
Was just shown this video on r/criticalrole on reddit and cried even harder than when I watched the real video. You are awesome.,
I love your channel and all your RP stories, seeing CR on here makes me love this channel even more, which I thought couldn't be possible! Thank you for the effort to make this!
Thanks!
I laughed so hard I cried a little. Well done.
Elizabeth White my whole face was drenched in tears from laughing so hard.
Oh the adventures of Sam and Travis!!! I love those two. Oh, and spoilers...

This scene is made all the more hilarious when you realize this will be Grog's tutor.
Oh goodness - I can't stop watching this. I watch it every break and lunch at work. "They're terrible guards and they made horrible life choices!" The perfect barbarian voice paired up with a persona that believes he is smartest one and should make all the decisions, haha!
This feels like Rick and Morty, with these two.
HaloMachinima Films it’s better than R and M
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Grog and Tary... XD
This is how an animation should be, something that compliments the commentary to make it even more hilarious.
Just noticed today that this was posted 3 years ago on my birthday! Thanks for the present, Puffin!
Sound only plays on the left side after 3:45. But other than that, this was great!
Milan Saunders thank you I was wondering what happened
Same
i littearly flipped out and thought my headphones broke xd
SAME
Ohh wow, I discovered my left earphone doesn't work.
Looking back, I think this was my introduction to Critical Role.
This animation randomly showed up on my feed 5 years ago. I knew nothing about Critical Role, or DnD at the time. I laughed so much on this animatic, that I looked up what this is about. Got immediately hooked on CR and consequently om DnD. And now it's several campaigns and games later for me, some I DMed, some I played. So Thank you, for making this animatic and getting me hooked on this amazing show, and this amazing hobby, through which I got to meet some of my closest friends!
this is actually funnier than the real thing, and that was hilarious!! very very WELL DONE!
Thanks to the CR comment section for linking this video. I hadn't dived this far down in the old Puffin Forest videos and thus hadn't stumbled across it. Instead I was watching this episode of CR1 and saw a comment referring to the cartoon.
It's so weird watching this.
I keep expecting Ben's voice looking at the animation, but I'm hearing Matt, Travis and Sam.
Havent watched this clip in probably 4 years and I still laugh so hard I tear up and stomach hurts from laughing that hard
The way Matt said "okay" when Grog punches them for good measure is what really broke me
This is the first Critical Role content I ever saw.
This video is how I found out about and fell in love with Critical Role. Thanks, PF! 👌
"What is thisisishig- *GIVE ME THOSE!* "
Grog is the best.
This. This is what got me into Critical Role nine months ago. I have watched all the episodes and just recently got to this episode.
Thank you for making this.
Brilliantly done! I love it! This was freaking great to watch! :D
Can’t wait to see this scene in the prime series!
This scene is contains in the first season?
@@bobobo1673most likely it will happen in Season 4.😂
This animation introduced me to critical role. Just wanna say thank you here.
For the record Ben, this is the best animated version of this scene I've watched.
Watching the actual episode, I can appreciate the DM's job, because Matt had a look of incredulous fascination, fear, and happiness all in the matter of minutes.
Oh geeze, this had me laughing myself to tears. Wonderful job. XD
This is one of my favourites, Puffin. Still rewatch it every now and again.
This was exactly what I needed today. Thank you for sharing your lovely work & making the moment even funnier.
OH GOD 2 YEARS LATER AND IM ONLY JUST REALISING THAT PUFFIN ANIMATED THIS, HOW DID I NOT NOTICE
3:43 i thought my headphones broke
DUDE IVE STARTED WATCHING YOUR VIDS AND HAVENT STOPPED SICE YESTERDAY, YOU ARE GREAT!
I can't thank you enough, this video has led me into critical role's podcast and am absolutely loving the series!
This is beyond amazing
I love you puffin for doing this
I want to get into dnd just to have a situation like this XD
Has it happened yet?
The emotes in the CC captions are just a cherry on top of this whole thing
Thank you Puffin Forest. You introduced me to crit role. It's been 3 years of solid entertainment since I discovered it and it only gets better.
I still come back and watch this
Whoo! This was hilarious! Thanks! I needed a laugh for the day.
Dodi: *"I WILL INITIATE SELF DESTRUCT"*
OMG how come I've never seen this before? Do more of those and put them in a playlist! This is *WAY* funnier than any cartoon currently on air (except for Archer, the writing and acting on that thing is just... unearthly good). I roared with laughter, my whole torso hurts, my face is wet with tears.
A like is earned. Well done.
2020 and this is STILL the best animation sequence of critical role I've seen so far... LOVE IT
in the last few years of watching these kinds of videos puffins are the best. i love his art style.
for the longest time I did not know that this was not Scanland, it is his short lived character Terry Darrington.
HAHAHA omg! Why haven't I've seen this gem before!!
Please, if its ever possible, I think we all would just love if you could animated a whole adventure of Critical Role? Your animation are just the best and really captures the character's emotions and mindset in such a hilarious way! :D 10/10
Blue Grog... I like it!
Aw, the poor shopkeeper... He’s wrapping this great bundle, he seems really happy about his job on it, and then it’s just... Two buffoons puking on ale covered, bruised guards...
Okay someone help. Seriously. I looked up DnD constitution stat. But I still have the question: if you make a constitution saving throw when your intimidating friend is forcing you to vomit, does the natural 20 make it impossible to throw up, or are you able to gag yourself perfectly??
Stealthlock i think that up to the dm, gag reflex is in involuntary reaction on nat 20 could make it impossible.
If the player had a on command puke ability then a nat 20 would mean success.
argantosnl Ok, in Matt's case, did that mean instant flawless vomit, or rock-hard gag protection?
Stealthlock you throw a con save for vomit prevention. It wasn't a puke ability, and besides the one puking wasn't a volunteer he was forced in to it. Vomit is usually result of a failed con save, so a nat 20 on a save would logically mean protection.
If it was a regular con throw and not a save you could argue for perfect vomit, but because it's a save it saves you from vomiting.
argantosnl Thanks :D I feel bad that that just meant he was trying and failing to vomit for 30 seconds, despite that supposed to be a saving throw. "One second! One second!" XD
When a player's being forced to do something against their will, I often rule a nat 20 lets them choose the outcome.
The new episodes of Vox Machina brought me back here. So happy it did 😂
I think i've watched this episode a dozen times so far and i still laugh so much that i cry. This was probably the most fun episode in the entire campaign and you were able to let it become even funnier. I have to stay, i started watching your videos since this one and i still enjoy every one of your videos
Its incredible to come back to these old videos and see how far puffin forrest's art has come
"I don't have extra masks!"
What a world...
I've just gotten into DnD and Critical Role is one of the reasons. I'm only on episode 30. I saw this video in my suggested videos and decided to watch it anyway. I don't know if I ever laughed so hard. I can't wait to see more critical role now.
Right?!?!
Thursday is now my favorite day of the week.
Thank you for making amazing videos my good man!
This is the video that introduced me to CR. I was very happy when I got to this episode.
This is the best. Love the channel and critical role. Who would have thought the two combined would be this amazing
Omg I almost died wtf I never laughed so hard in my life.
I just got to this episode. Puffin, you are how I found out about critical role, and D&D in general after that. Thanks man
LOL LOL LOL. I finally got up to listening to that episode in the podcast as I wanted to know the whole episode before watching this. it was worth it :)
Puffin, I got to say thank you for this. This video is what got me into D&D. I hope you keep up the good work
Bless you, Puffin Forest, for including the link to the original video AND the time stamp. I really wanted to see which one this came from and you made it so easy! You rock!
I really hope you do more of these in addition to the videos you usually put out
I just want to say thank you. Not only is this scene hilarious, but it was this video that first introduced me to Critical Role.
So, thank you Puffin Forest.
i don't know how, but seeing your animation of this scene has made it EVEN MORE hilarious! thanks! :-)
Puffin I have been watching this for so long before i realized this was yours!! I love you Dnd vids and now love this more ^^
you have made my day, sir! I am definitely following that podcast now!
I finally got all the way up to this episode! Seriously, I wish their sessions were on a CD or something so I could listen to them in the car.
This animation is the thing that got me to check out Critical Role. Thank you for this and introducing me into their world, Puffin!
That was fantastic!! I love the way you did the opposed dice rolls, perfect.
You should most definitely animate all of the Critical Role episodes, your animation is the best. Love it, especially the worried noodle arms.
This is amazing
this was hilarious the first time but I just have to say, somehow your animation made it 10X better. tyvm.
3:44 thought my headphones gave up
It took me this long to realize that you drew Grog “hanging out” a bit.
Please do more Critical Role animation!
