  • Rupert Spira is a contemporary spiritual teacher, writer, and artist known for his teachings on non-duality and the nature of consciousness. He is widely recognized for his clear and accessible approach to Advaita Vedanta, which is a traditional Indian philosophy emphasizing the unity of the self (Atman) with the ultimate reality (Brahman).
Spira's teachings focus on exploring the nature of consciousness and its relationship to experience, perception, and the sense of self. He often uses direct inquiry, guided meditation, and contemplative practices to help individuals recognize their essential nature as pure awareness.
In addition to teaching, Rupert Spira has authored several books, including "The Transparency of Things," "Presence: The Art of Peace and Happiness," and "The Nature of Consciousness." He also conducts retreats, workshops, and online courses worldwide, offering guidance and support to those interested in exploring the nature of reality and the path to inner peace and freedom.

    Summary:
Awareness is an empty, luminous, loving space from which all experiences arise, known, and made, and it is inherently peaceful and unconditionally fulfilled.
    Highlights:
🌌 Empty Space: Awareness is devoid of objective qualities, allowing experiences to arise.
💡 Luminous Knowing: Awareness illuminates all experiences, serving as the knowing element.
❤️ Loving Embrace: Awareness welcomes all experiences without discrimination, embodying unconditional love.
☮️ Inherent Peace: The essential peace of awareness remains undisturbed by external experiences.
🌊 Ocean of Consciousness: Experience is like waves on an ocean, with consciousness being the underlying water.
🔍 Recognition of Nature: We do not need to become awareness; we simply recognize our true nature.
🌱 Saturation of Peace: Regularly sinking into awareness brings lasting peace into daily experiences.
    Key Insights:
🌌 Nature of Awareness: Awareness is an empty space that allows experiences to emerge. This emptiness is essential for the fullness of life, as it provides the room for all experiences to exist without limitation.
💡 Role of Knowing: Awareness acts as a luminous force that makes all experiences knowable. This knowing element is central to understanding our existence and the experiences we have in life.
❤️ Unconditional Acceptance: Awareness embraces all experiences equally, without preference or judgment, reflecting a loving aspect that invites all thoughts and feelings without resistance.
☮️ Peace Beyond Experience: The peace inherent in awareness is independent of external happenings. True peace lies in recognizing this fundamental aspect of our nature, which is not influenced by the fluctuations of life.
🌊 Consciousness as Ocean: The analogy of consciousness as an ocean illustrates that all experiences, whether joyful or painful, are temporary waves on its surface. The essence of consciousness remains unchanged, regardless of the experiences.
🔍 Awareness Recognition: There is no need to strive for awareness; we merely need to recognize that we are already this awareness. This realization liberates us from the pursuit of happiness in transient states or objects.
🌱 Integration of Peace: By frequently returning to the ocean of awareness, we cultivate a deep-seated peace that infuses our daily activities and interactions, allowing us to navigate life more gracefully.

I discovered my essential nature as I became older. I realized that what I refer to as I had not changed from the time I was a child until now. The body has changed and the thoughts come and go but what I refer to as I or me has not changed. I came to realize that I am pure consciousness or Spirit that doesn't change. I am the ghost in the shell.
