we had an old wind up record player on a high shelf for only teacher to touch. no power.. wood stove.. back houses and a pump up kerosene lantern.. those were the good old days!! everyone worked hard to survive.. and had love for everyone. Happy 1950's and now look where we are today. Have we advanced ?? I think NOT. May God bring this society of sin to our knees to ask for His wisdom and forgiveness by HIS GIFT & HIS Grace. 2022 here we are>>>>>>>> God help us.!!

That acoustic reproducer cannot properly pick up sound from a 1940 electrically recorded 78 rpm record.
The sound is actually quite awful.
Sadly a bad refinishing job too.

Hey Charles, I can see by your OWN RUclips Channel that you are quite the Antique Phonograph Aficionado !! Thanks for taking the time to listen :) You criticism are all valid. Perhaps a little background is in order. I am NOT a Phonograph Aficionado, but do love Vintage Technology. I bought MY 1925 Victrola, via a classified add approximately 40 years ago. I have do NOTHING to restore it. It just plays :) Although I did replace the cracked reproducer with an expensive refurbished one. The sound quality improved noticeably. As a retired electrical engineer, I am fully aware that electronically recorded 78 RPM Record can not be fully appreciated on a 1925 acoustic reproducer, however I would bet there were THOUSANDs of people who played the 1940 record that way. You see I think you are missing the point. There is actually something VERY Beautiful about hearing an emotionally stirring song that is actually being played on a nearly 100 year old instrument that has never been fucked with :)

@@georgedabrowski6900 I agree with your premise, BUT, please do not discount the usage of the 1925 Victrola in the 1940's. Not everyone was a rich as your grandparents. BTW, How old are you ? I'm 66 Years old and I bought this 30 years ago. I have played all types of 75's on this.
