I was diagnosed with bone cancer in 1989 I spent 18months in the hospital. Odds were 75/25 and when I beat the odds after hair loss and multiple surgeries. This song gave me so much strength at the age of 8. My sister sent me this link this morning and I'm crying on how far I've come.
Mrs. Estefan, I was injured in the line of duty while serving in the Army when this album came out. I lost my left leg and paralyzed my right leg. I was in the hospital for two years and three months. I went through some hard times. I would listen to this song, along with the whole cassette, over and over again. I even sang the tracks in Spanish. It got me through some dark days. I remember hearing about your bus accident and praying that you wouldn't be paralyzed too. Thank God. God bless you for so many years of amazing and inspirational music. Cheers.
You're listening right now because you've experienced/ are experiencing struggle. Let this message be the encouragement you need to remember that you are capable and that the darkness is not enough to drown out your light. I love you. You're here for a reason. Be the light. ❤
I suffered from Depression (chemical imbalance) from age 16 to 61, but when I entered menopause at age 56 it was a real blessing because I started to get better and no longer need medication for it. I'm 65 now and this song describes what I went though. I give God all the credit.
I was told on April 19 th that i was cured of stage 2B endometrial Cancer. That's a coming out with the dark moment for me 😁😁😁. I thank everyone who cares about me and stood by me through this trying time. Im beyond blessed 🙏❤️🙏❤️...
Gloria went thru a lot and I love this song because she knows that God saved her life and healed her and she can walk and perform again. What a beautiful song. I can relate. Praise God 🙏
Her having money for the best medical care is why she can still walk and perform. The rest of us with spinal injuries would have done anything to receive the results she did.
Her Most Magnificent Song...EVER. It Refers To The Bus Accident, SURE, BUT. - IT IS SO MUCH MORE Than That. She Is Singing About GOD. Her Relationship To HIM!! IT IS Truly Awesome. She Understands And Appreciates What HE Did For Her. What HE Can DO For ALL Of US... If WE Let HIM. Praise GOD. Hallelujah!!
One tractor-trailer had jackknifed, blocking the road and backing up traffic. The bus halted behind another 18-wheeler. As it sat idling, a tractor-trailer driven by an Ontario man slammed into the rear of the bus and smashed it into the one ahead. The driver of the tractor-trailer that skidded out of control on the snow-slicked road, Geraldo Samuels, was charged with driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed, police said. “We were stopped, waiting for them to clear the road. I didn’t see him coming,” Jones said. Gloria Estefan was sleeping in a bunk aboard the bus when they were hit. Emilio was talking on a mobile phone with the band’s secretary in Miami, Maria Elena Guerreiro. “He was telling me how it was snowing and how beautiful it was. We were talking and suddenly, I lost him,” she said. It was 12:15 p.m. Gloria was thrown from the bunk and onto the floor. Emilio Estefan was knocked unconscious. Minutes later, using the portable phone, the bus driver called the band’s road manager at the Onondaga County War Memorial in Syracuse, where Tuesday night’s concert was planned. But the call was cut off in seconds. www.miamiherald.com/entertainment/music-news-reviews/article227075764.html
Gloria Estefan is an inspiration to all of us. I rediscovered this wonderful song that I loved many years ago and now it has a whole new meaning for me. I had a spinal injury 3 years ago and I'm still fighting to come out of the dark. I spent 3 months in the hospital and the rehab nursing home. I had to wear diapers. I can't wait for the day that I get rid of my wheelchair. I saw Gloria Estefan in concert in New York many years ago and loves the show. After her accident I sent her a heartfelt handwritten get well card. She rode back to me and thanked me immensely for being a great fan and get well wishes. She came back from a devastating spinal injury. God will be there and shine his light on me as well. God bless Gloria

I loved this song, it was such an awesome comeback after the accident. The moment she walked on the stage was emotional, after almost being wheelchair bound, she was determined to walk again.
This song was number one when I was born and it's crazy how at 29 years old, I feel a connection to these lyrics. The blueprint to my life is what I'm listening to right now. 🤯
This is not the song of your generation. Your generation is like 2015. When this song came out you was a newborn baby!🤷 You wouldn't know anything about this song until you about 20 something 20 years later! Songs of your generation it starts when you about 11 years old! When you start going to dances at school listening to music with your friends you can identify the artist going tonight clubs! Influences and clothes And hairstyles! Not when you couldn't tell your head from your diaper rash and breastfeeding and sucking on pacifiers! Who boy!
"You're still you and I love you." Dana Reeve to Christopher after his accident God I so get drained with tears flooding my eyes remembering Dana saying that to this day
2022.. still loving this classic. This single was released after her accident on March 30, 1990 - after a 18-wheeler rammed her tour bus, nearly causing her death. But she came back stronger. God bless you, Gloria 🙏
Yall Gloria and her family survived a nasty tour bus accident in the 80s. My dad prayed on his face for this woman and her family. Thank you Jesus for saving her and every survivor of anything. There is a God and He is the light. He will always bring you out of the dark ❤

Kevin Prima well look at Jon Bon Jovi's speech from the 1991 American music awards ,he over dramatized Gloria's bus accident like there was no hope for her!
Got in my truck today to go job hunting and this song came on immediately. I knew it was going to be ok. Thanks beautiful for giving the gift of truth.
I loved this song as a young kid. Hearing it today has a new meaning. I'm a three time suicide survivor. The light finally beat the darkness for me. If you feel suicidal don't be afraid to ask for help it's worth it. it does get better. Love to all
@Daniel Glade, I recently lost my husband by suicide..i am listening to this song I haven't heard since youth and saw your comment. I am pleased to know you have overcome your struggle.. May God keep you❤
In 1992 after Hurricane Andrew blew through the south end of Dade county leaving tens of thousands homeless, Gloria quickly assembled a concert named Hurricane Relief at Joe Robbie Stadium. Jimmy Buffett, Miami based The Bee Gees, Nestor Tores, Crosby Stills Nash, Andy Garcia, Asia,Julio Iglesias,Jon Secada and many other notables showed up to lend support. Miami was without power and dark, as was much of the stadium. The show opened darkened, like black dark, and as the stage lights came up, Gloria sang this offering hope to all of us. I still tingle.
Lived in Cutler Ridge and homestead when Hurricane Andrew wiped us out this music helped so many of us. The looting for basic things like water and ice was insane People were shooting each other over a 5lb bag of ice or a single gallon of water. Finally when the army airborne started landing things slowly calmed down. Was definitely a hard time for anyone involved. 36-38 days no power or water and telephone good luck.
[Verse 1:] Why be afraid if I'm not alone? Life is never easy The rest in unknown Up to now for me It's been hands against stone Each and every moment Searching for what to believe [Chorus:] Coming out of the dark I finally see the light now And it's shining on me Coming out of the dark I know the love that saved me Sharing with me [Verse 2:] Starting again is part of the plan I'll be so much stronger Holding your hand Step by step I'll make it through I know I can May not make it easier But I have felt you near all the way [Repeat Chorus:] [Bridge:] Ever I stand on the rock of your love Ever, ever Can't nobody stop me Watch me Ever and ever Stand on the rock of your Love is all it takes No matter what we face [Chorus:] Coming out of the dark I finally see the light now And it's shining on me Yes, it's shining on me I know the love that saved me You're sharing You're sharing with me You're sharing with me You're sharing with me You're sharing with me Cannot be in the dark Make it into the light, yeah Your love is shining on me Shining on me Shining on me See the light I see the light shining Shining on me I didn't think that I could take it But your love helped me to make it Coming out of the dark I see the light now See the light now
Overcome the darkness.... whatever darkness got you.... rejection, addiction, poverty, homelessness, injury or whatever loss you suffered... REMEMBER ALWAYS.... you are greater than any darkness that's trying to destroy you... when you defeat your darkness... ENJOY your victory because you DESERVE TO WIN.... This song is a glorious 100 out of a 100!!!
Gloria is an angel. I don't mean looks wise but her heart and soul show she is because after Christopher Reeve had his accident Gloria called his wife Dana and asked her if there is anything she can do
@@aliciak1959 i took a walk thru my memories...but thanks for reminding me. she recovered well as i recall..but not overnight. I don't know enough about her history. but near as i can tell she just "healed up" big deal. People heal from things all the time. Few heal overnight. so what is this darkness stuff about?
I met Gloria in person in Miami , before her bus accident. We spoke for a few minutes . Not only is she talented, she is also a very down to Earth, lovely lady. I am one of her biggest fans.
Once in a while a song comes out that would save many lives and revive many discouraged souls. This is among the best of those gems I will always be thankful for. Equally the story behind it. I remember it very well in my troubled teenage years.
I Had Seen Her Interview With Her And Her Husband Emelio And Decided To Listen To Her Coming Out Of The Dark Video Afterwards !!! I Forget What A BEAUTIFUL And HEART WARMING Song It Was !!! I Can Honestly Say It Is PURE JOY To Listen To That Song !!! Thank The Lord For Her And God Bless Her And Her Family........
I've loved this song for a long time. It's beautiful and motivating. It also really speaks to me and how I've had to fight so hard to get where I am today and live an authentic life.
This song is just angelic, and very healing to me. It was inspired after a near fatal accident; which makes this song even more touching & relatable to me. I love seeing the choir singing along in the background. This is a truly powerful performance, by a very beautiful soul who always reminds me of my mother. Peace 💓🙏
This song has always held a special place in my heart. Theres glorias story and mu dads story they both had their changing accidents at the same and were in the same hospital and were operated on by the same doctor in the brand new OR. So coming out of the dark was not only about her accident but for us it was about his! Gloria Estafan i hope this reaches you!
I can clearly remember when this song came out... she was in the accident and nobody knew if we'd ever see her sing again. Then out of the dark (pun intended) she comes out with this masterpiece, arguably her greatest song. I cant speak for anyone else, but I still get teary eyed when I hear this one. We were all so happy to see her healthy and singing again. Gloria with her upbeat and optimistic attitude has always been a blessing to the world.
I just shared this song with my family. We just lost our mom but, her love was our rock and continues being our foundation. Then most of our family gets Covid and my brother is in the hospital with it. It been hard but, our faith and knowing we have each other's love and unity is that light that will get us out of the dark. We will be stronger and more united because of our mother's love. Thank you for this beautiful song Gloria and Emilio Estefan🥰❤ My mom died of brain cancer but, she died happy and feeling blessed for all the love she knew she had from her family and her only love my dad. He always called her mi reina hermosa.
This song is a tearjerker,it tech u don't Take life to seriously because tomorrow is not promise to anyone and this is my survivor songs because I have been thought dark and coming out lighter, brightest and stronger person than I was yesterday.
I seen this beautiful and oh so very talented lady on the 1st and last date of the UK tour when she returned after the terrible accident she and many others sadly had. 2 and a half hours Gloria performed for on each night!! Love you Gloria, still listening to you (and Miami Sound machine) after nearly 30 years. To hear you singing Coming out of the dark in concert that first night was incredible and so emotional! Much love from Scotland to you in Miami.
Woke up with this song in my head this morning. I have been in one of the darkest places I’ve ever been in my life over the last 9 months… trying to pull out of it, hitting road blocks everywhere… came to the realization that I am the only one who can do it and need to do it by myself. Most people have given up on me, so there is nobody left… I haven’t given up on myself, getting out of the dark by using my creativity in any way I can with my physical issues, but so much I can do compared to nothing. Light at the end of the tunnel… thank you Gloria, I remember what you went through all those years ago and still live with today. Thank you for all your wonderful music over the years, you kept on going until you could come out of the dark. 💖💖💖💖💖
she wrote this song after her bus accident. if you listen to the lyrics by tell u step by step and falling in love with her then manager of Miami sound machine.
Thank you Heavenly Mother for Blessing this world with Gloria, I and I remember the horrible accident that she was and made it out with help from people who helped Gloria find this song should be dedicated to all that helped at the time of Gloria's accident!!!!!!!
A second (Emily in 1994) after the accident. Her then-9-year old son Nayib was on the bus with her and Emilio when it was rear-ended by a Maersk tractor trailer.
I remember she droppd this when she was recoverin g from back injury almost paralyzed her. The light is God and he heals with love, how lucky are we that God gave us his son so we may come out of the dark.
What brought me here are two things: 1.) I can reflect on my own dark times, including losing my dad, my grandparents back to back and coming out as a gay man at age 42, all while dealing with my identity crisis. But now, continuing my process of living my truth. 2.) One of Gloria Estefan's best tunes! Her own amazing recovery was incredible and do is this tune.
Yes indeed I love her music and I still listen to her songs today and every time I hear this song I start to cry because I was going through depression and I almost given but my nephew was born and now I had a reason to live for
Just here listening to this over and over. I’m in such a dark place right now with all the medical stuff going and other stuff. Trying to pull myself out of it as this has always been my go to song. I need to see the light because I’m in such a bad place right now.
I remember living in south Florida after Andrew, and her leading her charity efforts with this song. It would come on all the TV stations during commercials. This will always be hurricane Andrew and Gloria singing to us that things will get better.
An anthem for me... Lord thank you for your mercy and grace. I was still a pre-teen when Gloria was involved in the accident. One of my favorite artist, even to this day. It took a lot for me to process, because I adored ( and still do) her and though still young (my mom was a nurse) knowing the severity when my mom explained it to me...
I had to be hospitalized in 2021 with a mental psychotic breakdown, and after a year of therapy and of course Jesus Christ I am in a good relationship and am doing well. I take my meds for bipolar, I was diagnosed in 1985 it's never been that difficult as last year and this song is giving me so much hope. Thank you Gloria for the 🎵 song!
First off, I wanna dedicate this song to my new found financial freedom and peace, therefore I just paid off my newly revamped house in full earlier this year at the age of 40 years old, and I'm now rejoicing by way of laughing & crying sweet tears of joy. And most of all I'm coming out of the darkness of debt, therefore I'm now seeing the light of financial freedom, and it's shining down on me😂. And all is right in my life. Thank you Jesus, my prayers have been answered.
2021 I had a spinal tumour removed and I had the best team looking after me, but still had to learn to walk again. I thought of this song and your concert after your accident. Xxx
My mom was the one who got me into Glória and Miami Sound Machine....I will never forget my mom picked me up from afterschool care and telling me about Gloria’s accident. I seriously cried out of worry for her but, as she said, she worked her butt off in pt and was determined to walk AND perform at a high level again. Boy howdy did she ever!! This song IS a cumulation of everything she went through at that time...not necessarily (or solely on her faith, as some on here might want you to think).
I got hurt at work the same time she got in tour bus crash . She had back surgery. All her fans send millions of good messages to her while going thru what she went thru . We all thought her fans she won’t make it but she did . She made this album after she got better. This album got me thru a lot back than . Doing better myself ❤.

May not make it easier
But I have felt you near all the way
[Repeat Chorus:]
[Bridge:]
Ever
I stand on the rock of your love
Ever, ever
Can't nobody stop me
Watch me
Ever and ever
Stand on the rock of your
Love is all it takes
No matter what we face
[Chorus:]
Coming out of the dark
I finally see the light now
And it's shining on me
Yes, it's shining on me
I know the love that saved me
You're sharing
You're sharing with me
You're sharing with me
You're sharing with me
You're sharing with me
Cannot be in the dark
Make it into the light, yeah
Your love is shining on me
Shining on me
Shining on me
See the light
I see the light shining
Shining on me
I didn't think that
I could take it
But your love helped me to make it
Coming out of the dark
I see the light now
See the light now
Thank you
In my opinion, this is Gloria Estefan's best track, musically and lyrically, out of her entire music catalog.
Her best vocal performance.
I don't mean looks wise but her heart and soul show she is because after Christopher Reeve had his accident Gloria called his wife Dana and asked her if there is anything she can do
#1 Billboard hot 100. 25 years ago this week and still awesome as the first time i heard it..gloria is a music treasure
Nothing but love for this lady!!! 2020 and I still cry when I hear this song. God is good.
Ye's my darling God is good
yes...god is wonderful for allowing accidents to happen hurting and even killing people.
I cry every time I hear this song as well. It's a beautiful song that's for sure.. GOD is the best!! 🙏🙏🙏
She's one of the most beautiful women in this world🥰🥰
Gloria Estefan has brought joy to millions worldwide with her music.
she is a strong woman and returned from the darkness and sadness
Indeed
why does everyone say that....what darkness did she come back from?
@@gothboschincarnate3931 she had an accident, her spine was severely damaged.
I worked in concert venues she walked past me in Milwaukee before a performance tiny petite powerhouse!
I love how she describes my feelings so well 😍
I've loved this song for a long time. It's beautiful and motivating. It also really speaks to me and how I've had to fight so hard to get where I am today and live an authentic life.
Sadly I understand the true meaning of this song but this song always reminds me of how precious life and the ones we love are ❤️
So profound... coming out of the dark... I seen the light.. such a inspiring song a Thank You 🙏
This song is just angelic, and very healing to me.
If it doesn't reach her, it reached me and brought tears to my eyes.... omg how God works
Sun has an underrated song. One of the songs that showcases Gloria’s singing ability. She can sing gospel religious songs. She’s so versatile.
Happy 66th Birthday Gloria Estefan!(Born September 1, 1957)😃🥳🎂🎉🎊🎈🎁🍾🥂🎀🌷🌹💐👍👏🙌
We all coming out off the dark soon !!! Queen Gloria !!! Blessings from Buenos Aires!!!
Gloria estefan was a real powerhouse back in the day. And I'm only now realizing it.
Me too!
Charlesbjtown She’s STILL a powerhouse
Fué y LO ES AÚN HOY 13/1/2023 !!!
Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio are still well known among the Cuban expat community to this day. 46 years of marriage this year.
My mom had cancer but sadly like so many she didn’t come out of it. But what a legacy she was and is too me. I’m blessed
This song is a tearjerker,it tech u don't Take life to seriously because tomorrow is not promise to anyone and this is my survivor songs because I have been thought dark and coming out lighter, brightest and stronger person than I was yesterday.
Powerful Song! Coming out of the dark HIS LIGHT HAS SHINE ON ME…….. Father God I humbly LOVE YOU WITH MY WHOLE HEART! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is such an inspirational and moving song. What a powerful message. Love this Gloria. Thank you!
I love this song. It's my favorite from Gloria 💕💕
This song helped me with my depression and anxiety and recovering from my bulimia
Still standing 2024❤❤❤❤❤❤
This song holds a special place in my heart. 💝
No great 90s song could be complete w/out a choir.
I been looking for this song all over the place this play on radio when I was kid since born in 1986.
she wrote this song after her bus accident. if you listen to the lyrics by tell u step by step and falling in love with her then manager of Miami sound machine.
sharon anderton, the aforementioned happened in the Pocono mountains of northeast PA, my backyard.
Exactly the nines are powerful and the voices will uplift
Amen!
Thank you Heavenly Mother for Blessing this world with Gloria, I and I remember the horrible accident that she was and made it out with help from people who helped Gloria find this song should be dedicated to all that helped at the time of Gloria's accident!!!!!!!
Even when alone I am never alone the holy spirit walks with me and edifies me to take care of trouble !...
One of my fave songs that she has ever done.... you can really feel the emotion with which she sings!
Stlll amazing. I forgot this beautiful hymn and we need the music to go up. Always see the light
Gloria has come such a long way. Now she’s got 2 beautiful kids and a grandson.
pbscraze I do hope her daughter Emily makes it big as her
Book of Ruth
A second (Emily in 1994) after the accident. Her then-9-year old son Nayib was on the bus with her and Emilio when it was rear-ended by a Maersk tractor trailer.
I remember she droppd this when she was recoverin g from back injury almost paralyzed her. The light is God and he heals with love, how lucky are we that God gave us his son so we may come out of the dark.
This beautiful plan of Salvation
An amazing artist. Her beautiful music was a big part of the late 80s and early 90s for me.
I was a young man just graduating boot camp. San Diego had a hoping night life. And Gloria filled the the air with sweet sounds.
This is such an inspiring, moving, powerful, and timeless song! Among the most touching you have ever released! thank you for this gift to the world.
Congrats on coming out and living freely and fully as yourself!
Gloria, esta cancion a cido un momento de calma en la vida. GRACIAS
😊
I am grateful I recently discovered this song. Means so much especially now!💜😌🌈
Glorious Gloria!!!

Yes indeed I love her music and I still listen to her songs today and every time I hear this song I start to cry because I was going through depression and I almost given but my nephew was born and now I had a reason to live for
Always... Beautiful Song
Just here listening to this over and over. I’m in such a dark place right now with all the medical stuff going and other stuff. Trying to pull myself out of it as this has always been my go to song. I need to see the light because I’m in such a bad place right now.
Truly one of best song writers of her era. And from what I hear a very nice genuine person.
Thank you Gloria
I’ll be 44 today. This song came to me yesterday morning 💙🌹🫶🏾🕯️🥳
I remember living in south Florida after Andrew, and her leading her charity efforts with this song. It would come on all the TV stations during commercials. This will always be hurricane Andrew and Gloria singing to us that things will get better.
Inlove with this song years now ...omg school days into adulthood giving the creator all the praise...🙏🤲
This song brought me out of the darkness of my addiction to the drug of meth amen an ty gloria been clean for 13yrs
I am a recovering alcoholic. I have been sober for 22 years and this is the song that gave me strength to get here.
Blessings to you❤❤
Era el 30 de marzo de 1991 y esta canción llega a número uno en Billboard. Se mantuvo por dos semanas
Praise the lord u made a full recovery Gloria after your terrible accident I was so worried about u when it happened I love you and your music
2021 I had a spinal tumour removed and I had the best team looking after me, but still had to learn to walk again. I thought of this song and your concert after your accident. Xxx
Very appropriate for this moment. 👍
Yup and Gloria making another comeback in movies
Song +Bird =Gloria Estefan. So Beautiful, gimmi the chills, good chills.
no one ever seemed to remark on how stunningly gorgeous she was -and by the way -still is!!
