Hello, I'm Jonathan Pie, and I collaborated with the Opinion Video team to help American audiences understand why so many British people are furious with Boris Johnson right now. As we make clear, Johnson is a well established liar. What do you think is the most infuriating lie he has ever told?
Not so much infuriating but the time he told that NHS worker there was no press at the hospital, whilst several press photographers were literally taking pictures of him as he said it. Think it just exemplified the way his depraved mind works. The first and foremost instinct in any confrontation, no matter how mild, is to lie. Edit: Oh yeah great video btw. (as always)

Waaay too few people in this country are bothered that the actions of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom are being investigated by the police. This is huge! The apathy and complacency in this country, in the face of both significant and unecessary suffering of my people and corruption in government, is staggering, if you think about it. Which reminds me of Bertrand Russell's famous quote that "Most men would rather die than think. In fact, most do."
In Australia our much-hated PM, Scotty from Marketing, should be a political dead man walking, considering we have an election due in the next few months. But the opposition leader is hardly anyone's idea of an alternative PM, and the cynicism and apathy is overwhelming. In the US people only voted for Biden to get rid of Trump. All the major political parties everywhere are bought and sold, and that is the intractable problem.
@@neilpemberton5523 Yep, same in the UK, it's hard to vote when both main parties are led by numpties, Labour is supposed to be a socialist party and yet it's led by _Sir_ Keir Starmer. Out of touch leadership of all parties seems to be the current thing in the US, UK and Aus.

The national debt was never getting any smaller anyway, despite austerity and long before covid. I'd say it's not austerity.

He was funnier when Andrew Doyle wrote for him. He is only covering Boris as the orange man is out of office and Boris is the next easiest target. The NYT covering a proven liar, a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. How is it going with Project Veritas NYT? Will Mr Pie have a witty routine for Kier Starmer being abused for what Boris accused him of being a complete setup. The protestors had been there for hours, and both Kier's aides and the police knew that. There is also a secure walkway to the place where Kier was going.
how did trump get dragged into this? Why not aoc, Biden, Pelosi, Trudeau? Hmmm, lefty tells me that leftys going on here. They'll be banning speech next, lol. Wait, what!? They are trying to ban...
I've hated Boris ever since I first saw him on Have I Got News For You in the mid-90s. I was only 13 but even then I could recognise evil when I saw it.
Exactly the same. As for "Walter The Softy from The Beano" Mogg on the same show, came across as not only out of place, out of his depth but as simply an odious obnoxious piece of cancer in human form. He's actually a tick, sucking up public funds to renovate a house worth nearly £4M because he's entitled. The fact he could afford this & SHOULD have been told it was his responsibility, was obviously not emphasised enough. We can't all live in massive properties because we rent, but still pay the same council taxes approximately. They should all be rounded up & buried alive someday, along with their families.....
This is both hilarious and informative (as usual). Congratulations on making it to the New York Times. Hope this exposes you to a new and appreciative audience across the pond.

@@thebrowns5337 nope, it's monopolism that causes economic stress among the populace (takes decades) which drives the electorate into the hands of conmen who promise easy answers/fixes while making it only worse by being monopolists themselves. Adam Smith wrote this 250 years ago about how this economic stress for the masses comes about: _"The interest of the dealers [referring to stock owners, manufacturers, and merchants.. anyone really], however, in any particular branch of trade or manufacture, is always in some respects different from, and even opposite to, that of the public. To widen the market and to narrow the competition, is always the interest of the dealers. To widen the market may frequently be agreeable enough to the interest of the public; but to narrow the competition must always be against it, and can serve only to enable the dealers, by raising their profits above what they naturally would be, to levy, for their own benefit, an absurd tax upon the rest of their fellow-citizens."_ & _"The proposal of any new law or regulation of commerce which comes from this order, ought always to be listened to with great precaution, and ought never to be adopted till after having been long and carefully examined, not only with the most scrupulous, but with the most suspicious attention. It comes from an order of men, whose interest is never exactly the same with that of the public, who have generally an interest to deceive and even to oppress the public, and who accordingly have, upon many occasions, both deceived and oppressed it."_
Wow... just wow. Pie doing his thing on The New York Times. To all those who aren't familiar with Mr Pie, he's been acting as a freelance tv news reporters for some time now where his skits are based on the rantings of real reporters when they're off the air out in the field and make satire of the big headlines or events. Which it was when Pie started out, but the past two years, things have just been writing for themselves and the sad reality is that that line between satire and real life has become very blurred. This was really well done and thanks NYT for not putting many restraints by letting Pie do his routine.

The other day, a colleague of mine told me that, all in all, Boris did a good job on covid and got Brexit done. As for the parties, they were OK, because at Number 10 they were all on a "work bubble", and were vaccinated anyway. The UK had the highest death rate in Europe for covid, literally nothing about Brexit is "done" yet, and the issue with the parties wasn't if they were safe or not, but that a) he demonstrably lied about them taking place and b) they were taking place at a time when citizens were legally prevented to attend even funerals. So, you see, the problem is not so much that they themselves act entitled, it's the people who eagerly go along with it and treat them as if they deserve it.
I totally despair when I hear people defending BoJo like this. You are spot on. And what's even more amazing is that often his biggest advocates are the kind of working class people who are suffering the most as a result of his policies. Incredible.

_"The interest of the dealers [referring to stock owners, manufacturers, and merchants.. anyone really], however, in any particular branch of trade or manufacture, is always in some respects different from, and even opposite to, that of the public. To widen the market and to narrow the competition, is always the interest of the dealers. To widen the market may frequently be agreeable enough to the interest of the public; but to narrow the competition must always be against it, and can serve only to enable the dealers, by raising their profits above what they naturally would be, to levy, for their own benefit, an absurd tax upon the rest of their fellow-citizens."_
&
_"The proposal of any new law or regulation of commerce which comes from this order, ought always to be listened to with great precaution, and ought never to be adopted till after having been long and carefully examined, not only with the most scrupulous, but with the most suspicious attention. It comes from an order of men, whose interest is never exactly the same with that of the public, who have generally an interest to deceive and even to oppress the public, and who accordingly have, upon many occasions, both deceived and oppressed it."_

Applicable both uk and usa...
7% of the population go to Hogwarts type schools yet graduates of these schools hold roughly half of all professional positions and more than that in the judiciary and top level political or military appointments. They’re drawing all of their talent from a tiny cohort because of class, accent, alma mater and whether an applicant perceived to be “one of us” in interviews.
Incredible.
