Regarding office actions, why would the USPTO be charging you anything because you came up with an idea? It seems a little incentivized for them to just never approve any patents, ever…if they knew they could charge another $10K+ and still wait months or years for it without it ever being approved or looked at. Like how would anyone ever tackle something they’ve created?
If you had a product that could be marketed in more than one category like sports and let’s say Disney would you be better off trying to licensing with one company or one company from each category. Thanks
So if I created a product that could be licensed in let’s say sports memorabilia but could also be adapted to something like Star Wars would I be better off licensing to one company to handle both markets or find marketing companies in both areas to market in their respected areas
Maybe I’m not explaining this correctly. When Stephen licensed his Michael Jordan basketball toy that was a sports toy but if you put a picture of Darth Vader on it, it might be considered a Disney toy. Would you use one company to try to license in both areas or license to one company to handle the sports side and one company to handle the Disney side. Hope I explained it better
It’s best to find the company that already has the license. Example:Ohio art had the license of Michael Jordan. I submitted to them a concept using Michael Jordan differently. So Ohio art paid me a royalty and also paid Michael Jordan.

Stephen Key I'm running out money because I'm building the house not that I'm inventing something because I'm running out money. Another words my invention is dormant because I'm building the house I made a big mistake with house first.

I had my invention signed and stamped by an Australian Government official (( Justice of the Peace) just to prove I wrote the concept at such and such a time. I don't have faith in the ability to enforce ownership rights across the globe and demand royalties from whoever uses it. I'm in Australia so doubt I'd travel the world taking people to court.
We have so many Australian inventors as members. You can do this. You don't enforce your patents. The companies you license your ideas to will. Why does patenting something have so much to do with trying to anticipate and control other peoples actions?! Why can't I just do this my self? How many people do I need to speak through? That, to me, is a red flag. It sounds like it would be easier to just make the product before patenting it. I'm not criticizing you at all, just the process. Thank you for the informatino. It sounds like it would be easier to just make the product
Please note most products that are on the store shelves are not patented. Most product ideas that we see get licensed there’s no issued patent on a provisional patent application, which is easy to do. Hopefully this information is helpful. Please subscribe to our channel if you haven’t already. Thank you so much for asking such a wonderful question.

Hello. I am a 34-year-old young man. I have many inventions and ideas in my mind. I want to enter the United States illegally and implement them. My life is in danger in my own country and I have to do this.😢😢
It's very easy to waste your money with patents. Don't forget patent attorneys get rich out of it - but you will probably not. You might well get a patent granted - your invention can be almost trivial in technical terms - but if there's no significant technical advantage which translates into a commercial proposition, you're wasting your time and money. One day the world will come up with a definition of the level of invention which is more than simply "it's not obvious" and the number of patents will drop by 99%. Then there will be peace in the valley.
Your first point is misleading and could use some granularity. A lot of your other advice is quite good. Here’s one example: if you publicly disclose your invention 364 days ago, and if your patent attorney says rush to the patent office - then LISTEN TO HER!!
You’re absolutely 100% wrong. It doesn’t take money, it takes knowledge. Reaching out to companies is free. Sometimes you can build your own prototype with things around the house. Putting together an email is also free. Writing a provisional patent application you can do yourself, but you need to file the fee at the US PTO. I think it’s $30. If you cannot afford $30. You should do something else.
So if you're already rich you can get a patent.😂 I mean sure if I try patent a new fork the patent will go smooth no question. But what if I try patent a perpetual motion machine? I'm not saying it works that's not what it is about. I think the patent organization itself will steal my idea. Or my lawyer. And then I might even end up dead.🤣 I mean big ideas I wouldn't even try patenting unless I'm a powerful company already. Well, as you said in your other video, it doesn't always have to be a patent. There are other ways.
@@vcash1112 Then as a kid I thought all you had to do is invent something. In Japan you have that opportunity they support inventors. If you're japanese citizen. But the rest of the world good luck you're on your own. And these so called inventor support you can find online etc. just a scam.

I have an idea that will revolutionize the way we get around on foot. but it's just a slight modification of what is out there now. would it be worth the effort to get the idea patented? just curious.
Revolutionize walking. That would be pretty amazing. Yes, if there is a benefit and the product can be sold at a reasonable price it sounds promising. - Andrew Krauss, inventRight Co-Founder ( Call, email, book an appointment or request more info about how we can help by visiting us here. inventright.com/contact/ )
I'm too worried about my idea getting stolen...
@@robzilla730 it’s unfounded fear.
The US PTO makes their money once a patent is issued and there’s maintenance fees.
If you had a product that could be marketed in more than one category like sports and let’s say Disney would you be better off trying to licensing with one company or one company from each category. Thanks
Not quite sure I understand your question.
Hi Stephen Key I have seen your videos years ago. I want to start again on one invention and would like to have a partner that I can trust. What's the possiblity of you partner with me and help me from beginning . Im.inventing something that would help cake shop business possible more applications. I would like to apply for provisional patent and then crowdfunding then a possible Angel Investor. Just because I'm building a house and I'm running out of money. Thanks Stephen you are doing a wonderful job. By the way I'm in Burleson Texas south of Fort Worth.
Stephen Key I'm running out money because I'm building the house not that I'm inventing something because I'm running out money. Another words my invention is dormant because I'm building the house I made a big mistake with house first.
What should I do if I have an idea to make a product better? A product that is already on the market?
How could I find a patent written before? They cannot be disclosed due to client confidentiality, right?
When a patent is approved by the USPTO, it is made publicly available. (Non-provisional patent applications become public at 18 months.) So, yes it is possible to search and find patents. There are new AI-based tools that have made searching for patents easier. Try: patently.com

Thank you for contributing!
Your first point is misleading and could use some granularity. A lot of your other advice is quite good.
Here’s one example: if you publicly disclose your invention 364 days ago, and if your patent attorney says rush to the patent office - then LISTEN TO HER!!
Thanks for commenting. If you have waited 364 days before doing anything you need more help than a patent attorney.

@@inventRight So you can file yourself for $30 or hire lawyers and searchers for thousands? Which is the best way?
I would keep watching the videos.
Thank you for watching!
I know it seems like patents are useless unless you have lots of money for lawyers.
