A sad day to be listening to this song but it is an absolute classic - such a catchy melody. And a great arrangement by John Paul Jones as well. Funny that he seems a bit Lennon-obsessed in his look in this video, and then ended up being the closest McCartney ever found to another Lennon after the Beatles
Couldn't disagree more. This song is a masterpiece and this is definitely the best version. And don't get me wrong - I love Colin Bluntstone's version as well. And I wish I was a big enough 'clown' to write a song of this quality.
Very interesting. Denny wrote this song, but Colin Blunstone made it famous in 1972. Maybe it was the cellos wot did it. Love the 'Lennon/Pepper w/o sideburns getup"
Lennon/Pepper sideburns getup is NO accident. This guy is the replacement John Lennon. And then he goes and joins the fake Paul in "Wings" while "Lennon" disappears for a while in the '70s.
This is just fantastic but Colin Blunstone is an extraordinary singer, pretty much perfect in fact. Having said this, Denny Laine wrote the song, and for me anyway, songs seem to sound better when performed by the writer. They seem to invest more emotion into the song.
WOW! This is amazing stuff!! These tunes make you wonder if there's any other Dream era stuff by him in the archives someplace because a mere two singles are too slim a volume of brilliance.
In the uk marquee club london England I saw Denny Laine and his Electric String Band perform with a guy playing an electric violin. This was ground breaking stuff shortly after he left the Moody Blues. I agree with Colin Smith that Denny's unique voice had the edge on Blunstone's version

I've come to listen today too. RIP Denny Laine😢 thought that too. Also thought of Peter Sellars. 😊
Goodnight and God bless to an artist who didn't get the credit he deserved,
R. I. P Denny💖thank you for the beauty 🙏🙏🙏
We have lost another original genius 😪RIP dear Den.xx
That last high E still sends shivers down my spine.
What a voice and incredible songwriter ….
For me Denny Laine's version of Say You Don't Mind is the best. Much as I like Colin Blunstone, Denny has a unique voice.
I agree although it lacks the finesse of Blunstone's it's got a lot more dynamism.
rest in peace Denny
Joining the Moody Blues with the classic "Go Now!" was his one hit wonder and still today its never aged.
Superb song. Sadly passed away today

I completely endorse your view! (I also love Colin’s version, too.) This song, and the arrangement, is a masterpiece. How was it not a hit??
what do you mean by "clown"
I agree; this original is the BOMB. Colin Blunstone’s version is very nice too.
I'm addicted to this song and video.

Ahead of its time for certain...i love this original version 🎶🎸👍
Great song ...Colin Blunstone did it justice ..but it takes a special kind of talent to write something like this ...
To think at that time we thought that was Long Hair.
Great Song sung Brilliantly
R.I.P. Denny ❤
Fekn fabulous.... 👏👏👏👏🥂🥂🥂❤️❤️❤️❤️
R.I.P. Denny.
Rest in peace Denny
Masterpiece❤
After watching this, I can definitely imagine Denny and Macca bonding over a mutual appreciation for a controlled substance.

Fits in with both The Beatles and the Moody Blues prog material.
Welp, this guy was on the moodies and then played with Paul Mccartney like for 10 years
Denny Laine RIP😢
Wonder why this never charted,it sounds perfect for 1967.
Shows how saturated with gems 67 was!
I think it got a lot of plays on the pirate stations at the time.
@@frankburrows9850 Sadly, I never heard the original until I sought out a copy after hearing the Colin Blunstone version.

There’s a third unreleased single. It’s on RUclips.
In my "Magnificent Moodies" playlist with Colin's cover. Thanks for the upload!
