TOON, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! The name of the school you requested at 9th & Lindley was originally David B. Birney elementary school. I will cherish this video forever. Thanks for giving me a shout out. I was doing good until you passed the 4700 blocks of Warnock and 10th streets, both no longer there. Yes, Logan was built on top of toxic limestone with a creek below. As the houses in the triangle began to sink there were 3 explosions, the one you refrenced on 10th street blew me out of my bed and i was across the street. I will never forget hearing my mother scream as my father ran into the flames and pulled Mrs Katz, out of her basement and carried her into my living room. Her feet were burned. In my entire life I never had better neighbors and those who accepted the $80,000 used the cash to relocate but I will forever be grateful to Officer Kilgore from Logan P.A.L., Mr. Larry from Hunting Park , all the brothers and sisters from Barrett playground , the great teachers at Birney elementary and Cooke Jr. High for having my back. Toon you are a bright light among the earthlings- PLEASE KEEP UP YOUR EXCELLENT WORK ALLOWING OTHERS TO LIGHT THEIR LAMPS - MUCH RESPECT...AND OH YEAH...NORTH PHILLY 4 LIFE❤

It was a gorgeous neighborhood with beautiful architecture. Mostly Jewish and Irish and it started to change in the late 60s with a lot of good people, mostly upwardly mobile educated Blacks trying to better their lives, but in came the drugs and crime. A few decades later, Section 8 came and that was all she wrote. The reason they had to tear down all those homes (I lived in one in the early 70’s) was that they built them on an old toxic industrial dump that dated back to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and blocks and blocks of beautiful homes started to sink. Hunting Park is a few blocks south and used to be beautiful. Now it’s lost. Very sad.

Spent 35 years of my life in north philly...but recently moved out several ours away about 1 year ago. So this video your seeing was because I had a gofund me fundraiser active un February and allowed the supporters of the gofund me to make suggestions of where I should tour when I got back to Philly. The money coveted gas. Tolls , tires and wheels allignment. I'm back home now in the country. Check out the previous ones though. But yeah, I'm not going to be in West Philly, I hear it can be rough out there. Of course I was looking in West Kensington which can also be. But wound up finding a place in Olde Richmond near the river, which doesn't seem too bad. Fishtown hipsters to my left and Port Richmond blue collar to my right.

As for the Logan triangle, the Goldenberg group purchased the property and intended to build a community center. those no dumping signs were posted there in anticipation for that, however the group never did anything and has since left the property. If a company/group wanted to redevelop the property then they could, however they would have to remove the coal ash which is about 40-50 ft deep, and id imagine that project would be very expensive to carry out.

Chestnut Hill, West Mount Airy, Andorra, Manayunk, Roxborough, OVERBROOK farms, Wynnefield heights, Wynnefield @ city Avenue, upper Henry Avenue ( East Falls) the entire upper NE
Philly has the third largest central business district in the country. . and there is constant building and investment in center city
Philly has the largest municipal park with excellent hiking along Forbidden drive and the Wissahickon
