    The latest update as of the beginning March 2023 has corrected the need to double click the NAV button in the default 530 and will also now fly RNAVs. The steps to fly the approaches are all the same otherwise. Thanks Momo at Flysimware for watching my video and coming up with a fix!

    Your video helped me to de-mistify ILS and RNAV approaches in my favorite plane model. Thanks!

      Yesssss!! It’s one of those things that you don’t know until you know and it clicks! Thanks so much for watching.

    I just bought this today and I honestly think it's one of the most beautiful planes in game however I have no clue how to fly it as I'm a noob to this awesome game

    Great video. I've often wondered what the reason was for not having an APP (Approach) button in the autopilot of the 414?

      Thanks!!
      Back in the days when this was made the AP didn't have a GPS or even need an APP button as it would just go off the frequency you had tuned. If it was an ILS frequency it would pick up the GS if it was a VOR or just a LOC it would not have the vertical guidance. I like that they kept the original AP in place vs putting in a newer version. I think we will see this all be corrected in the next update though and the default GNS 530 will act as it should when changing modes.
      Thanks for watching and the comment!!

    Not sure what I cant get things to work. Do I have to change from GPS to LOC to make an ILS assited approcach? Flaps set to landing, gears out. Nothing is being fetched though...flyging at initial height (in this case 2500ft) OVER the airport. =(

    Cen you make the same video? with the GTN 750 is will help

    I tried to reproduce exactly what you did. In my plane, the altitude does not stop at the set altitude, I never get the Alt alert light lit up next to the A/P light at the top of the Altimeter, nor the ALT button in the Mode Selector. If I try to use VLOC to set the plane up for landing, I get the GS and LOC illuminated in the Mode Selector, but the plane does not change either direction or attitude. I tried both the default GNS530 and the Work title, too. I tried multiple times, and it just does not do what it is supposed to do.
    UPDATE: Mystery solved. The TDS GTNXi was the culprit. Even though, I removed the plugin from the Community folder, TDS still ran something in the background. I noticed a small green background icon in my Taskbar notification area indicating a TDS process running. Once I exited that task, the plane and the auto pilot behaved exactly as it was supposed to.

      You must hit the ARM button next to the altitude selector to have it level off at that altitude.
      Once you change modes, say from gps to VLOC you must hit the NAV button again. I spoke with the developer about this and there has been an update after our discussion. I will try it out and see if it still works for me.

    • @sprocketsimulations

      I just tested this, and it is even easier now and the default GNS530 will now capture both an ILS and RNAV. Also does not need to double click the NAV button. WTT still gives you a better unit but both work fantastic to capture approaches. Make sure you have the ILS frequency tuned and active, course set, switch to VLOC once you are lined up our at least making your turn on to final.
      Your altitude issues seem like you might be clicking the ALT without setting hitting the ARM button and pitching to get to that altitude. You set your altitude, arm it with the little button next to the numbers, pitch the aircraft up or down at desired rate/speed. It will automatically turn on ALT mode when you reach your armed altitude.

      @@sprocketsimulations Of course I hit the ARM button. I followed your excellent instructions to the letter. I wonder if the TDS GTNXi plugin interferes with the GNS530; even though I removed every GPS related folders from the Community folder. I might try with a different airplane and see if it works. Do you know any that has a similar old-school auto pilot?

    • @sprocketsimulations
      @sprocketsimulations  Год назад

      Hmmm it does sound like something is interfering with it if you have the TDS installed as well. I would try completely empty out your community folder by copying it to a temp folder and try again. If it still happens just copy it all back as you know it’s not the problem.
      Are you using any peripherals or other items that need unique key binding?
      I would try and run it as barebones as possible and use the mouse to click all buttons. But I’m guessing something is messing with another add on.

    I loved this plane but since it errors I cannot fly with it. It doenst want to fly straight and turns right right after take off. Clear skies and no wind. Thanks for the video and I will come back when it has been fixed by me or developer.

      That is so bizarre to me as I have not heard or seen any comments about this on their discord or forums. Double check your fuel tanks as this aircraft as state saving and if your left tank is empty for some reason, it might do this.
      How drastic is the right turn. Make sure that the prop is not feathered and that you have the same RPM's on both sides as well. I agree it is a fantastic plane and want to help figure out what is going on with yours. Did you purchase it from the marketplace in MSFS or from a 3rd party site?

    WT need to manually change GPS mode to VLOC?

    • @sprocketsimulations
      @sprocketsimulations  Год назад +1

      For ILS yes. This will turn off NAV on your AP and then you will need to turn it back on. This is normal and how it should work.
      RNAV will not need to change/turn off as the approach is already a GPS route.

      @@sprocketsimulations Can you describe the tutorial for Vnav?

    • @sprocketsimulations
      @sprocketsimulations  Год назад +1

      There is no VNAV guidance in the 414. You can use the 530 to help calculate when to descend but it is still using the ALT mode and adjusting pitch to descend.

    • @sprocketsimulations
      @sprocketsimulations  Год назад +1

      @damian7u if you mean vertical guidance down to the runway this will be explained in this video but VNAV is not an option for following a descent to constraints on a flight plan.
