  • After spinning my MK2's for about 25 years, they still tun flawless, and record collection is getting slightly out of hand, I've decided to move some records from my home studio in the attic, to downstairs.
    The only thing I've replaced on the MK2's are the LEDs, strobe, 33/45 switch as well as the pitch light
    Surprisingly my girlfriend bought me a Technics MK7 for my birthday and I instantly ordered a second one. Here's a (my first actually) unboxing and small comparison video of the MK7 to the MK2.
    hope you enjoy it!

    i bought the mk7 in silver also. both dacks had issues straight out of the box. dead areas in the pitch control and feedback bleeding through the whole deck to the speaker output.
    in all the comparison in quality is blatantly obvious and will not last 30 years .fortunately had them returned with full refund phew. 4KG lighter tells you all you need to know.

      I got some MK7's last year (the black ones) after almost 15 years of stopping Djing and I adore them -they feel and play slightly different but stil Technics standard when you get used to them! The weight loss was a concern but I'm not gonna take them to parties etc so there isn't any issues 😊🐾

    Hoi, hoe bevalt jouw de MK7's? ik heb vroeger de Sl1200 MK2 gehad maar heb nu een order geplaatst nieuw voor die MK7, veel beoordelingen gelezen over dat het troep is uit Singapore/Maleisie, veel plastic etc etc wat is jou mening daarover? merci Cor

    • @Vreestyle
      @Vreestyle  2 года назад

      Hallo Cor! MK7's bevallen goed, in die zin dat je robuust genoeg zijn. Pitch houdt beter maat/tempo, echter is deze wel digitaal. Ik geloof dat ik ergens gelezen heb dat de pitch in stappen van 0.1% gaat. dit is ook wel voelbaar als je 25jr met analoge pitch gemixt hebt. Dus die 1/10 van een mm verschuiven zoals op de MK2 heeft een ander effect.
      Hierdoor zijn de MK7's beter geschikt voor oa digitaal draaien zoals Rekordbox of andere DVS software. BPM blijft stabieler als je het mij vraagt.
      Vinyl wat analoog afgemixt en geperst is draait voor mijn gevoel lekkerder met de MK2's, maar dat is meer een kwestie van smaak.
      De durability kan ik pas over een X-aantal jaren wat over zeggen.
      Het gewicht scheelt een +/-4ktg wat voornamelijk is de baseplaat zit. op de MK2 is deze van zwaarder meer rubberachtig materiaal, iets flexibel op de MK7's wat meer kunststof, volgens mij 0% rubber, hierdoor voelt het als wat meer PVC aan.
      (Y)

      Hoi Freestyle bedankt voor je eerlijke antwoord ik heb namelijk in Haarlem 2 nieuwe zwarte MK7'S besteld ik heb eerder in 2006 op de SL1200MK2 gedraaid maar omdat men er over die MK7 wordt gesproken alsof het speelgoed dingen zijn,het gaat om heel veel geld, ook zouden te belettering op de draaitafels zelf zeer gevoelig zijn als je het gaat schoonmaken dat de letters dan vervagen of helemaal weg zijn het gaat mij meer om thuis te mixen house/trance/clubbing ik stam nog uit de tijd van the Roxy en the IT Amsterdam groet Cor

    They looking amazing! How are they to mix on? Do they lock a mix in like the MK2’s do? And have you found there being no increase in speed from 7% to 8%?

    • @Vreestyle

      Thanks for your comment.
      They mix slightly different because they're newer, my MK2'S are 'spinned in'
      But I got used to it quite quickly.
      There's definitely some speed increase between 7 and 8%. Though it's slightly less, the increase IS there.. how much? Hard to tell, 'cause I've increased the speed om my MK2'S, so I'd assume it's less then I experience now...

    the issue with pitch has been solved apparently as well as the wobbly platter. How to you find the pitch and overall sound quality? I'm waiting for new batch to arrive to the UK and getting the black one.

    • @Vreestyle
      @Vreestyle  2 года назад

      Thanks for your comment! The overall sound quality mostly depends on your headshell/needle, which imho is quite the same. The pitch though is not adjustable, anyway, not that I know of... In rekordbox +8 is definitely +8, but in between +6 and +8 it is a little different than I was used to.. somehow a bit slower, but I think this has something to do with the X2 button and the 78rpm mode.. when you have so much options regarding the pitch control, you have to make a little concession.... At least I think, at Panasonic they did...

      @@Vreestyle just asking because my PLX-1000 (which is a Hanpin OEM) has a 51mm overhang which makes all unadjustable carts sit 1mm off the sweet spot. It doesn't sound like a big deal but contributes to unnecessary innergroove distortions and sibilants. Amd since I use my deck for HiFi only, this makes a difference. So I am stuck with classic SME headshells and always need to align any cartridge I get with a proper protractor 😬

    • @NiiOnLood
      @NiiOnLood Месяц назад +1

      The MK7 has tonearm geometry specs identical to MK2 so you are good to go. Just a minor correction: overhang is 15mm on these tonearms, the 52mm is a distance from a headshell collar to stylus tip to achieve correct overhang and alignment.

  • @PitbullRyu

    I recently bought the 1210GR and I must admit that the difference between analog and digital pitch exists a little. However it is not true that they do not keep the bpm as they say in other videos. If a DJ is good, even with belt-driven monacors he can keep the bpm.

    • @Vreestyle
      @Vreestyle  2 года назад

      Keeping BPM is the art of mixing. If you can't hold that, stip mixing. I was testing this in rekordbox, and the MK7'S are more stable regarding the BPM. That's when keeping the pitch at one place between 1&8% plus or minus... My MK2's keep beat as wel, but rocks a a tenth of a percent due to the analog pitch, and probably because that pitch control is 25+ years old...

    • @PitbullRyu
      @PitbullRyu 2 года назад

      I have been using turntables since 1996, finding the bpm has always been easy for me, especially with the 1200 and 1210 mk2 I bought. The new digital pitches all have the same problem as the M5G. You may not have noticed it but try to shift the pitch from 7.70 to 7.20. You will notice that the strobe points freeze immediately

    Hello,
    cool video! Tell me, is this model identical to the full black 1210 MK7 version (torque adjustment, blue or red LED adjustment, etc.)? What do you think about the real vinyl mix? Rumble ?

    • @Vreestyle
      @Vreestyle  2 года назад

      Thanks! Yess completely the same. Besides from the color, they're identical.
      Real vinyl mix is a bit different. Got used to the MK2'S for 25 years... So have get used to the MK7'S. Beatmatching isn't hard if you're a vinyl mixer... But it's slightly different compared to 25year old pitch slider which still work great, but have their own feeling...
      Explain yourself about the rumble please.. Thanks for your comment 😉🙏

      @@Vreestyle I wanted to talk about the isolation of the turntable ... it seems, it is much lighter than a PLX1000, or my RP6000 MK6 LTD, or of course, compared to old Technics, like the SL1210 MK2 from my friend

    • @Vreestyle
      @Vreestyle  2 года назад +1

      @@PhilippeDreschLeDiscographe they are indeed about 4kgs lighter then the MK2's, but the feet on the Technics should correct that.
      I've read that the possibility exists than the needle could skip sooner due to rumble or real heavy bass...
      I've not experienced that at all. Even with loud music.. I think it mostly depends on how heavy the rumble is, and the adjustment (like in weight and anti skating) of you tonearm, and of course what sort of needle you use.
      You can always give a half gram more weight to your headshell/needle
