Thanks. Your demos are inspiration and actually lessons. Picked up three of your riffs today. For your apparent age, you have an incredible grasp of styles. Some time ago you did a lesson with your Tele doing some jump Rhythm and Blues and that was awesome.
This is how you do a pedal demo-with a variety of riffage styles. So glad it wasn’t a shred fest. One of the best demos I’ve seen. Just fun too listen to!
Dude, what even is life without these demos?!?!?! Tone for days, mojo for days, & a warm Canadian sensibility to boot... can’t help but enjoy every second of these demos! I’d like to see what caught your eye at summer NAMM. I think my rig is sitting quite fat & happy at the moment, but I’m always down to listen to more of your picks :) keep up the great work!
Dude, your over-the-top style is mega. Love it. As for summer wish list gear: honestly I'm feeling a bit over saturated this year. I've been going back and looking over the gems I may have missed in years past. Just picked up a Tumnus Deluxe (finally) and am in love. But if you keep making demos I'm sure to go broke. 😅
Amazing video, as always. You know your stuff, dude, and it's always a pleasure to watch/hear you play through any pice of gear. Already knew (and love) the pedal, but I knew this was gonna be worth watching. Love how you work the guitar knobs. Cheers
Sounds great! I don’t tend to think of a mid-scooped Fender amp that is set very clean as the best platform for higher gain pedals. Rattler has a nice mid range that I think helps make it work and really liked the lower gain tones that the Rat isn’t great at.
Says at the beginning of the vid. It’s just copper wire around a magnet. Punchy and jazzy happens in playing style. The eq, clarity and output is what can change in a pickup. Mr. Jay does a great job changing his style to suit whatever each pickup is supposed to be. Haven’t seen enough to say the difference between pickup styles is anything more than play style and marketing. I’m betting they are great pickups though!
Hi Jay. Great demo. Hey, would you make a video pairing the rattler with the tubedreamer, the lucydreamer and the red muck? I want to buy a custom rattler paired with another overdrive/distortion and it would be very helpful. Thank you
I have nothing like your skills, but I like to hear demos by someone who has a similar right hand attack to me. There are tons of great demos out there, but the closer someone's pick attack is to yours, the more useful the demo. Now all I need is more speed, fluidity and imagination.
Great video it's amazing whenever you play that blue tele you just explode ! Try an mxr Dyna comp got to before the rat. It'll smooth it out got to be a Dyna comp and then a little analog delay at the end. Boss dm2 would be great... anyway that's one of my favorite pedal combination into a warm fat clean tube amp.
Fred Nielsen they should have left the symmetrical clipping. It’s my choice, instead of putting a pedal in front to smooth it out it’s just more pleasing to at least my ears.
Gotta be one of the most underrated guitarist on this platform. Have you ever thought about making an online course/lessons? Whatever you were doing at 2:20 was awesome! Would love to see you break it down.
Jezzuzz, thank you for playing riffs and chords !! Just skipped another lead-show-off-wankery of a Rattler demo, and came here . At least I get a better idea of the Gain limit and how it actually sounds with chords from your video. Keep it up!
Great video as always. I have just one question if it's possible to get an answere. How will it work if I combine Jam Rattler together with midscooped Fender BJ or Hot rod deluxe? Thanks
Thanks man. Seems to have more low gain range than proco, while still going into rat heavy metal territory. Ide likely not take a proco rat past 11 or 12 as, besides being unecissary, im not a fan of fuzz territory, and prefer edgy-er, more defined distortions... and is why i was looking at mxr super badass... but il likely go with the rat... cant justify the cost of a rattler in australia $310-$370(aud). Whereas proco rat 2 is $170-$180. Same as mxr75 super badass $180-ish
wow jay how many overdrive pedals have you demoed now? is any one of them actually better than the others? which one do you actually use in your live rig? honestly i don't even click on your videos anymore because every one of them is the same. "hey here is a new multi-effect pedal! i won't tell you how much it costs but certainly it is yet another multi-effects pedal!" wow we must all be idiots.
I wouldn't speak for the majority but you certainly put a spotlight on your unintelligible ignorance with that comment. If you want to know the price click the link in the description, you doughnut. Also this is a distortion pedal not a drive you pineapple.

Thanks so much!
The Rat is the only pedal that never gets old.
More versatile than people give it credit for.
My old Rat is one of my desert island pedals :)

Very musical and versatile sounding! Also like the playing...very bright and cool
Nice pedal and a fab demo thanks Jay, you never disappoint

I love your video, very great playing. I bought that pedal yesterday, very good choice! Thanks to you!
Glad to help with your decision!! Hope you have many years of rock and rollin' with it :)
One of my absolute favorite guitar tones was that 90s Florida Death Metal tone and almost everyone was using a Rat with a cranked Marshall.
Morbid Angel 🤘

Hi the demo is awsome!!!! what kind of virgil arlo pickups do you use in this demo ?

K, you killed this interview, just amazing tones, man, thank you.
My guy plays Electioneering by Radiohead = One more Rattler owner
That tune has one of the coolest guitar tones ever!!!

Well I Believe I Need The Rattler Now 👍👍🎶🎶🎸

The Electioneering riff made my brain cave in on itself because I was like “I know what that is, what is it???”
Haha

i would watch that
Count me in.
Great demo. Tasty playing. Me want.
Some incredible tones, but jeez give me some of those guitar playing skills man!

I really appreciate it. Thanks so much
I wish they had kept the different settings though. Symmetrical and asymmetrical choices.
Great video as always. I have just one question if it's possible to get an answere. How will it work if I combine Jam Rattler together with midscooped Fender BJ or Hot rod deluxe?
Thanks
It would work perfectly! Enjoy :)
@@JayLeonardJ Thanks!!
Sick Playing and Pedal dude! I'm waiting for the GFI System Modulation pedal that's coming in the next few months
Is this considered a fuzz ? Snds close at times . Great demo ,got my attention .
It goes from Hard Clipping overdrive to Distortion to Fuzz at the very end: probably classify it as a Distortion. Super versatile.
Definitely A Sweet Demo Very Informative 👍👍🎶🎶🎸Love Your Playing. Rockin.
Holy crap you really know how to show of a pedals strength, and your playing is off the hook!!
The hardest working man in show biz.
Nice!!! Is the Rattler quiet enough compared to other rat pedals?
Yeah, noticing any extra noise out of mine :)

Got a trex mudhoney vibe going on, love it😍
That's because both are inspired by the Rat circuit. ;)
@@GuitarDaan fair enough, cheers mate
I'm trying to put RAT pedals in context, what players/bands were known for using them?
Radiohead, John Scofield, Ratatat, Jeff Beck, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, Nirvana... awesome box!
Graham Coxon from Blur
Arctic Monkeys
Ratsfst mentioned!!! Just bought a supreme fuzz for my rattler for the mike stroud tones hihi.
I found one with a custom paint job (Bonus) on Reverb earlier this year, Killer Pedal.
Mickey Settlemire if it is orange that is the That Pedal Show special run, I think orange is what they did.
@@patrickbrown8540 this is one of the Dan Achenbach painted version's, a mean looking "Kaa", from the "Jungle Book" 😆
Can’t believe you didn’t switch to a low tuned humbucker at some point... since its a DISTORTION... maybe it should be called an OverDrive instead.
Perfect “King of the Hill” theme song tone right there 3:19
6:00 DAMN THAT TONE!!!
You going to do all of Jam Pedals?
I think I might just do that :)
Yes Please!!! :) @@JayLeonardJ
Great Demo .... :-) thx
is that a play on Radiohead Electioneering @ 5:17 ?
maybe ;)
It's difficult to focus on the pedal when your playing is so captivating!
The best of the best
I can’t buy any more gear especially pedals. How much is this in usd?
I could go for the Jimmy Page Dragon Tele.
Me too
Sold!
