    Oh, your greenhouse makes me want to cry. Texas gardening can be heartbreaking at times:( You have the right attitude though...you can't let it beat you! It might make way for transition and new inspiration! On a different note, all of your plants and landscaping look beautiful! I especially love all of your colorful bee balm and pops of yellow throughout!

      You’re so right on just sticking with it. July and august are usually my struggle months but these storms set it in motion early. I’m just going to have to be ok that things don’t look like I want them to…for now. Appreciate the solidarity and kind words! This is my first year with bee balm and now I’m planning on more.🙌

    So many gardeners don't like yellow, but I love it like you do! I just indoor sowed some Mexican mint marigold! I always love your tours, and how honest you are with your fails or challenges. Can't wait to see how your space transforms. 💚

      @@shirleywilhelm1495 I got mine from Grizzly’s nursery in Nolanville. I think most local nurseries would carry them. I didn’t see any at the big box nurseries like Lowe’s.

      Hey Austin! Always good to see a fellow central Texan in the comment thread! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour and channel. I’m such a “tidy” gardener (every plant in its place) that sometimes I forget the charm volunteer wildflowers bring. I’m learning to let plants tell you where they want to be. These volunteer sunflowers have brought me such unexpected joy🌻

      Hey neighbor! Thanks for stopping by! I had heard the USDA hardiness zone map was updated. It feels like central Texas is all over the place with the zones! After last summer I just knew we’d shifted, but my zip code is still 8b(until July/august 😝). I hope I gave that beauty berry enough room🫣

    Thank you for a great tour! Your garden is always such an inspiration and is so beautiful! I am working on the native butterfly garden that I put in at my old summer camp in Navasota, Texas this week, and I planted a couple of things (even though it’s June!) That I saw in your garden and chose for this one.
    Goodness, I knew that hailstorm was horrible, and I saw your last video, but seeing it again in a little clip in this video, just makes my heart stop all over again. I would have burst into tears! I would have been like that meme of the dog just holding a coffee cup, and saying, “everything is fine” when it is completely surrounded by fire. Everything has bounced back so beautifully, I can hardly believe that was just a few weeks ago!
    I just put a video up this week and in the heat of the moment, got the name of your RUclips channel wrong when I mentioned it. I’m so sorry! 😖😖😖 I am a bad garden nerd friend lol. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I did put it in the description and I hope others will find you as well, because you have so much wisdom! Have a great week and stay cool out there.😊

      Hello sweet Jo! I definitely was overly optimistic after the storm first happened. I shot a quick reel saying “all is well!” Except it wasn’t…I may have had just a little denial😆 I’m so glad you find the videos informative and inspiring because sometimes I think I might be droning on about stuff everyone already knows😝 Also, I definitely consider that a big compliment because I love your beautiful, lush, and thoughtfully placed landscape. My stuff is still pretty sparse so I’m dreaming of the day my landscape fills in as beautifully as yours has. Don’t you sweat the name mix up! Happy you thought to give me a shoutout! Appreciate your kindness greatly my fellow garden nerd🙌

    If you pull the bloom off the Turks Cap, you can suck the nectar from the end. It is sweet, like honey. My grandson waits for them to bloom each year to steal the honey from the bees. Your garden is beautiful. You have some wonderful Texas plants.

    Good morning 🌞
    Thank you for the tour. I am a little north of you, and yes, all that water really reeked havoc on my new natives too. Many are yellow at the base, ans some just drowned. I have had to dig a long trench to get the mini lake to drain. Also have brought in 4 cubic yards of compost to build things up…it has been a teaching of my garden with all these storms.
    Sorry to see you lost your green house. But looking forward to a new season of how your garden will evolve!

    • @theplantninja-texasgardener

      Hello my friend! I’m so grateful our lakes are full here but definitely don’t want one in my yard😝 This past year I’ve really been consistent with adding expanded shale when I install my natives and it might be why some have hung on despite my clay soil. Will you add a French drain? This gardener is close to Austin and he did his own: ruclips.net/video/JsV4fFDxM9s/видео.htmlsi=Dqr-eAzVnGXueKd2

    It's been a wild weather season in Texas, right? We've had tons of wind and rain here in Houston. Definitely keeping me on my toes. What kind of mulch do you use?

    • @theplantninja-texasgardener
      @theplantninja-texasgardener  3 месяца назад +1

      It sure has! I know I got off easy. I heard folks were without power for days in Houston. We also had a couple of tornadoes east of the county. I hope your garden is recovering well. I’m currently using a hardwood mulch I usually buy by the yard from my landscape supplier.
