    Very interesting video. Been interested in Langoa Barton for some time now, but the 2004 I tried was so austere that I started having second thoughts. Maybe I should try some of the later vintages before I make up my mind.

    • @TrophyWineHunter

      breathewithme: not sure when they made the change in style but seem like the 2016 and 2017 are less austere. Cheers!

      @@TrophyWineHunter My thoughts exactly. Langoa always was a bit austere, old-school. Without changing the character and style too much, the wines have become more, how to say, 'expressive'? It still is Langoa, but the later vintages show more stuffing.

      @@vangestelwijnen I would watch this winery over the next few years. Again, a few vintages doesn't mean it has changed but I like the direction this winery is going. Cheers!

    Great tasting as always! I noticed climate has definitely made wineries begins to change their techniques in the vineyard and winery and it’s reflecting in the wines profiles no doubt…many are finding this to be a good thing we are producing the best possible wine now so makes since the 2016/2017 is the favorite. Sometimes I wonder like Monterose is more time really gonna give me what I want out of this wine feels the same with the 2009 here just possibly lacks freshness? makes me wonder will it ever really change to round out and be better ?

    • @TrophyWineHunter
      @TrophyWineHunter  2 года назад +1

      Wyatt: I think Langoa has made a stylistic change recently I think the 2009 will stay austere no matter how long you age it. I really like the new vintage which drink more for the modern palate. Cheers!

    I really enjoy this wine, especially for the price I grab it at. I'm not sure how much you had to pay, but my source is usually $60 or so. I get free shipping with them, and 20% off...so I pick it up for $48 a bottle.
    I do agree with your scores, 92 is usually where I would peg it at. It's very solid to me, but not too sure I'm happy about the style change. I liked their "old school" style. I have some 14, 15, 16, and 18. I wonder when that style change happened? Hmm.... guess I will see eventually. Cheers!

    • @TrophyWineHunter
      @TrophyWineHunter  2 года назад

      sC 34: I paid CDN$110 for 2017 so you can understand my lukewarm reaction. If I was paying USD$48, I think that is a very attractive price.
      That is so interesting as it shows you not everyone agrees on the style change. I personally like their newer style, which I find more vibrant. I think they are probably somewhat affected by consumer taste and I think consumers are not prepared to wait as long for the "old" style, backward Bordeaux which takes 20 years to soften.
      Keep watching! Cheers!

    Great video. I really enjoyed the vertical format. I always find your videos to be educational and informative. 🍷
    Unsolicited advice…I am not a fan of the advertisements (I had to watch four videos from start to finish). I think at this point in your journey you are too early to introduce ads. You may risk turning off viewers who do not like watching ads at a time where I would think your growth of subscribers should be the focus. Risk/reward…risk of slower subscriber growth with use of ads vs. very small monetization. I hope this helps.

    • @TrophyWineHunter
      @TrophyWineHunter  2 года назад

      Cory Z: sorry for the ads but I think you can skip no? Normally, when I view other sites, it is usually 2 ads at the front and everything else you can skip after about 5 seconds. I will see if I can change my settings so I have to figure out how to control this but I was so excited when I got to monetize as that somehow signaled I had made it. So perhaps I went wild as I just clicked yes on everything!
      You are correct, the monetization is not very much but here is my thinking: I am thinking if I allow ads, then google will recommend me to more pages?
      Again, I am not that skilled at these things so I am learning. Will try to go back on the weekend and figure out how you can allow people to skip the ads.
      Cheers!

      @@TrophyWineHunter - first two ads I think are 20 seconds, then two more ads that can be skipped after 5 seconds of watching each. You may be right on the Google placement. My suggestion was from a viewers point of view…just my unsolicited two cents to try and help out.

      @@coryz6880 totally appreciate your feedback and hope you stick with me even through the ads.
      Honestly, I don't think I will ever have a huge audience as wine is already specialized and what I talk about is even more specialized. Will make a video shortly about why I did this channel and bit more about my philosophy about wines but I am hoping to cover wines/topics other Wine RUclipsrs don't cover. Not for everyone...I don't have many bells and whistles and not even sure I have the best wine knowledge but I think I have a pretty unique perspective as I am on the consumer side and not on the wine industry side of things. So I talk and look at things like a consumer, not someone involved in the wine industry. I don't know anyone in the industry, no winemaker, agent is my friend and I, by and large, drink with regular (some of who have deep pockets and great wine knowledge) people not in the wine industry. I have a little knowledge but I actually don't want to get too involved in the wine industry as then I become part of the wine industry instead of just a person who enjoys wines.
      Really appreciate long term subscribers like you who are emotionally invested in this channel. Many of you have been with me from the beginning..it has only been 1 year so I am excited to see where this leads me, especially once I can freely travel again.
      Cheers!

      Both are great vintages but 2019 is more aproachaple Early on. I bought quite a few.2019 en Primuer. Not Langoa Barton though. I tasted All of Them. And they All taste really great now though of course No where near their plateau of maturity. But though they have plenty of tannins the tannin is soft. Not astringent. Yet they have great ageing potential.Its a trade of the vintage.

      Post script: I just saw a picture of the 2021 label and if that is the label, then it is not that special. Very flowery and old school and really not that impressive compared to some of the other "flashy" special labels. Cheers!

      @@TrophyWineHunter Fair enough. I guess it's up to taste, I do like it :) I ordered a small case of six bottles, but obviously I won't be able to drink any of it in earnest before 2027. Speaking of "en primeur", I believe you haven't made a video on that topic, yet. Would be interesting to hear your opinion on buying en primeur. You get it cheaper but you've got to wait a long time to receive the wine and even longer until it's properly aged. Thanks for your videos!
