Dark Weave is the fifth album by psych-folk collective Mark McDowell & Friends. Starting life in the prestigious Studio Trilogy San Francisco following last years west coast dates, recording was completed in Bristol, and Presteigne Wales. Across nine tracks there’s jangly garage folk, spooked out ballads & hypnotic drone based improvisations. The arrangements developed at weekly get-togethers achieve a fluid mix as vocals and acoustics mesh with analogue synths and Indian strings.

Dark Weave derives much of its success from its artfully constructed textures. Analogue bubbles and drones are at play here as Mark McDowell and Hannah Moriah’s vocals commingle with acoustic lines and Indian strings, on this fine and varied offering.
