they are exactly the same car, jag xf, i think, body panels have ford mondeo on the back of them, basically a jag nowadays is a much more expensive mondeo.
I'm driving the new mondeo for 4 weeks now and I have to say this car is realy amazing. It looks good, it drives good, even the 1.6D I had to choose because of the low CO2. The touchscreen has some small buttons on it and there can be some lag if you switch between menu's. The front led lights are also very nice to have and give a good view of the road in the dark. In sharp turns you can see how they are following the road. All in all you'll get a lot of car for its price.
I had my last 1.8 Mondeo for 20 years and now have a mark 4 Edge 2 litre in chill silver with personalised plate. It's big and beautiful and I just love it! Easy to handle, once you get used to it's size, boot like a skip and so good to drive. Would not drive anything else.
I drive a taxi and get lots of miles in a year. I currently have a Volvo which beats BOTH of these cars in terms of quality. I have tested both of these cars and decided to buy a Mondeo as my next taxi, as it is much cheaper than Volvo S90... Why did I choose Mondeo over Passat? Mondeo is much quieter in the road. It's better to drive (in my opinion), the interior quality is good enough and the inside lights are nice, and NO DSG-transmission. I think still the Passat will keep it's resale value better than Mondeo, but it doesn't matter to me.
Thanks for explaining, Here in Australia Volvos are ridiculously expensive to buy and service and they also depreciate even worse than Fords, so I think the Mondeo 2.0 tdci will be my choice, again (my first one from 2008 has clocked over 300 000 km)
A mate at work has just got the Mondeo Titanium X, looks great in White but the standard 17inch wheels look tiny! I would definitely get 19inch wheels as the arches look huge. Saw a Passat GT in blue with grey alloys and a white leather interior, gotta say, it looked classy.
Yes James Bond did drive a Mondeo but the car above isn't a proper Mondeo at all. It started it's life out as the Ford Fusion in America and was a pretty old design by the time it came to the UK, the previous Mondeos were far better cars to drive than the latest one and had better steering.
Paatrocleee Oh did they? Didn't know that. Nevertheless, for those who haven't got it, its not bad from my point of view that it looks like and Aston, but it just does.
In that final shot the Mondeo looks a lot bigger! Is that touchscreen in the Mondeo a showstopper, I personally think touchscreens in cars are a bad idea...
I drove both of these back-to-back a couple of weeks ago. The Passat had a slightly better interior, but only by a little bit, but that is the only thing i can say about it. It was so boring to drive and to look at, i started feeling like a pensioner altough im 24 years old. I also don't trust VAG's DSG-boxes, they seem to be as reliable as an serial adulterer. As for the Mondeo, it has gone a bit soft compared to previous generations, but it's still the best or second best car to drive in it's class along with the Mazda 6. My biggest complain about it is the fact that you can't get an manual gearbox with the more powerful engines. A new Mondeo ST please?
The Toyota Avensis is better than all of these cars. As it is the most reliable out of them and has an excellent build quality. If you want a cheap high street brand then go for a Mondeo as it is all flash and no substance.
The avensis is good for been designed to be reliable, but its dull, has poor handling, week engines, its like saying the grandmothers yaris is better then the fresta or polo, toyotas are very relliable, look at reviews no car critic has ever put a toyota ahead of ford or vw. there a dull brand, il welcome your opinion. And funny a mondeo a high street brand lol, funny enough i dont really like the new mondeo but its miles ahead of the avensis in most areas
The Mondeo ST could use the 2.3L EcoBoost I4 from the new Mustang and the upcoming Focus RS. Even better, a Mondeo RS could use Ford's 3.5L EcoBoost V6 (found in the North American Taurus SHO, F-150, and Explorer).
Perhaps it's worth pointing out that the estate version of the Mondeo actually has a smaller boot than this hatchback (at least, with the rear seats in place). So if it's mere space you're after, the choice between both body styles might not be as obvious as it usually is. The estate probably does trump the hatch when the seats are folded flat (that's my guess anyway). And as far as practicality and usability are concerned, things are equally complicated. After all, you get this huge fifth door on the Mondeo hatch, which might swing up a bit too high for comfort, but also creates a massive load opening, beating the estate in that matter. On the other hand, boots in estates do tend to be more evenly shaped and therefore more usable than the one in this hatchback. So, choosing which Mondeo to buy is tricky, way trickier than picking your Passat (in which case the estate boasts the larger boot and the more practical tailgate). I'd have the hatch. At least it looks new, the estate is just a copy of the outgoing model.
The winner is the mondeo for me because it also has the airbag seatbelts, is better to drive, hatchback and it doesn't look like a tired frog. VW Just made the passat look much worse
I curently drive Mondeo and I disagree with some of the comments. 1. Space in the back isn't great - legroom is fine but headroom is horrible. I am touching the roof (178cm) 2. Fun to drive - you could say that about the previous version but the new one is quite bad. Steering is absolutely horrible!!! I have no idea what is happening with the wheels + very impercise. 3. Cupholders are rubbish - too big! I do not need to have 2 litre bottle I need to have a space for cans or 0,5 litre bottle. if I have my coke can - I cant get it out(too deep). RedBull? splashing as the can is too small and flying in the cupholder I do not know anything about VW so I don't know how it is....
Sir, you have my respects! Finally one honest owner. Exactly my impressions on Mondeo after a short drive-test! But you have to admit that is a damm good looking car!
sakalabudhi123 too bad he didn't mentioned the Passat's 2.0L TSI engine that generates 220hp. Here in Brazil dozens of street racers tested the mondeo v6 and the passat tsi, it was really close, but the passat made 10,3 seconds and the mondeo 11 seconds (Drag race btw)
Mondeo for me. I have 2 Mk3's. They've been solid cars to own. Build quality is very good. Drives like a big hot hatch. Ride is sublime. They cannot be beaten if you spend a lot of time behind the wheel. I've experienced VW's TDi in a number of cars - always has sounded agricultural compared to the Ford diesel. The TDi is a rough sounding unit IMO.
I had a Mondeo Mk4 Titanium X Business edition, 163 BHP manual box as a company car, after that I had the VW Passat GT 190 PS DSG with dynamic chassis control. I have to say whilst both cars are great, the Mondeo beat the Passat hands down in terms of being fun to drive. The feedback from the steering in the Mondeo is amazing. The Passat however was not great, even with the chassis control. Don't know about the MK 5 Mondeo. Also had a Mercedes C class hybrid and can honestly say both the Mondeo and Passat in my opinion are better than the Merc.
Many people are saying the Passat is ugly and boring. I personally think it's brilliant (talking about the euro version). Almost as if they made it thinking about me and others who share the taste. It has a subdued sense of elegance that takes a little time to start to appreciate. A very cohesive and mature design I must say. On the other hand the Mondeo looks like an average bloated ford sedan with an Aston's head glued at the front. By the way, for whatever reason USA model of passat is sticking to the older more average design.
+zeebazu "It has a subdued sense of elegance that takes a little time to start to appreciate." Maybe because is same fucking car every time ??? "A very cohesive and mature design I must say." Mature ? Sure, thats what i said.
Passat clearly has better headroom and legroom.Mondeos sloping roof makes headroom poor.It is was stupid giving mondeo 10 for space. You are probably really short.
C'mon man i'm a mondeo fan and even i don't believe it's much better than the Vw Passat . The Vw Passat is the lider of it's class no dobt there ,i had two mondeos and now i'm thinking more on the Passat Thanks great video ! Both cars are great
What I find intersting is how much heavier the Mondeo is than the Passat. In a recent test in the german car magazine "Auto Motor und Sport" the Mondeo's tested weight was 1765kg and the Passat's was 1551kg. 214 kg difference!
Thats why no one feels the mid range punch of Mondeo, Mondeo uses an interal link rear suspension which is heavier than Passats Multi link by 55 kg, the sound deadening materials and in car audio amp and seats of Mondeo add to pver 140 kg of weight over Passat
kraenk12 B8 Passat is not quieter, its roomier VW has really upped its minimalist approach in weight as well unlike Ford which is struggling to reduce weight, VW uses more high strength boron steel than Ford does as well
Life is about compromises , with weight you gain great sound insulation and great Mullti Link suspension for additional comfort what others perceive as negatives , other might perceive as the Icing in the Cake
Yaa this was how VW used to be a few years back, like the old Skoda Superb, its told that the old superb was built even more tougher than the Mercedes E class of its time, but the new one has shed considerable amount of weight, Thr advantage of loosing weight is mighty, however the advantage of those insation or multi link rear may be the lighter car always wins, like better accelaration, better mileage, etc etc Japanese cars for eg: they alwayz keep this secret, almost 90+% of Eastern cars are super lightweight built with inferior steel and will pack a numbet of airbags to nail safety ratings but the end result is better market share cuz aways people love better day to day performance, just 10% of people will appreciate Mondeos heft. And Ford is in heavy crisis in Europe,so making new Mondeo lighter wud ve paid Ford in boat loads.
so the passat feels like an audi? that could have a lot to do with the fact that its an Audi A4 with the badges changed, and not much else. for me, the Mondeo wins every time. ive actually just bought the previous model, a 2010 2.0TDCi and, i tend to agree with this guy about the lack of mid range grunt. i changed my old 2001 mercedes C220cdi for the Mondeo and whereas the merc engine doesnt have the max RPM as high as the ford, the power band ran through most of the rev range, whereas the ford runs out of breath WAY to soon
+Peter Lattimer get a remap or a piggy back system like race chip. would help with the powerband. a custom remap by a local garage could tune it so the powerband suits your needs better :)
That's a gross oversimplification. It's true that the Passat shares the MQB platform with the Audi A4 however, it also shares the same platform with the Skoda Superb, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Tiguan, Audi A3 and many more VW Group vehicles. The Audi A4 boot capacity is much smaller than the Passat and the interior is entirely different. It shares switchgear like seat adjustment and windows switches but not much else.
Nothing wrong with VW engines it was the software that was fiddled with, and a lot of other car makers have been at it as well and time will reveal these!! My point with the original post was that the engine on a VW Passat mated to a DSG gearbox is not noisier than a manual transmission because they are basicaly the same.
hope they got rid of the inherant faults on the Mk4 like clutch or flywheel and premature failure of the aux belt tensioner drviving an 05 M.at.mo.alernating with tdi 2000 must say the the VW has been trouble free one owner since new And that woman gives a whole new dimension to the term dropping the clutch Brutal The roads here in countryside Fr are like.Flandrs after a shellacking
I totally agree, the Fusion is a nicer car than the Passat. It looks better, the interior looks better (even if it has cheaper materials), and it’s more practical.
we can discuss for next thousand years but truth is that vw is making products which are all above golden middle. Almost flawless. I like both brands, and I was using both of them (passat and mondeo, focus and golf). They are all excellent cars for normal everyday use, and with higher trim levels (highline (with dsg) and titanium) they are superb ;) Before this two I would buy refreshed mazda 6 (sports line). this car in this class is 9,5/10 for me!
I am considering upgrading my Mondeo mk4 to mk5 with powershift and then I came about this video... Honestly, the mk5 looks a 100 times better than any VW car while tue Passat doesn't have a 100 times better built quality... VW cars have a more senior look about them (except the GTI's and R's, but still Mondeo looks better)... Whenever I see a Passat the thought is always "oh here comes gramps" and I've owned the B5.5 Passat so I felt what gramps like. It handled like a boat, very squishy suspension and the interior was nothing to brag about... I've sat in the latest Passat... It's fine, not miles better than the Mk5 Mondeo, just fine... For me, being a used car buyer I always go Ford over VW.
@@matthewellis9885 It maybe so, and not taking care of it is also a factor... It needs to be serviced more often than DSG, but I'd still take a Mondeo over a Passat any day... VW's build quality is not exceptionally good, the whole group actually feels somewhat cheap and some interior design choices are awful (like in most Audis)... Škoda is a great example of hypness + cheapness which I hate about the group... I sat down in a used 2019, 40 000 Euro Kodiaq and it felt cheap, cheap plastics and funny how their soft touch material is like the hardest soft touch available. it's like someone at Škoda said "people like soft touch" and VW gave them the cheapest variant "here, use this, this will shut them up"... I sat in a Vignale the same day, same year, less tech, more hp, at 30 000 Euro...felt glorious inside.
Never driven a Mondeo, but I do own and drive a 2015 1.6 L diesel Passat and it's easily the best car I've ever had. It just oozes quality and I can't help smiling every time I'm in it.
Ashur Slivo He did himself. It was a subjective point of view as he said that "for him Mondeo wins". Then he asked the audience - which do you think is better? They both scored 8/10. The review isn't biassed or anything, they're looking at it objectively and they are correct. Most Europeans (especially eastern) will go for VW no matter what because it's a VW. Now that I think is stupid.
DAYM if you read my comment you would know what I mean it wasn't just this video its all over the British motor shows I always watch top gear fifth gear and many others when it came to germen cars its always something wrong ones he didn't even had something bad to say he just said its ugly so if want to know what I mean just watch there shows
the general summary about each has not changed in over 20 years. Mondeo better to drive, Passat better quality. In all these years, you would have thought VW would have poached some better test drivers from their rival...
Passat wins, it's just better value for money, it's better built and it's despite not having a premium badge it's desirable in a way that the Mondeo just isn't. I mean does it really matter so much how a 150bhp diesel family saloon drives? Not really, you want something which feels well built and gives good value for money and is reasonably comfortable.
I just bought the VW over the Mondeo. Putting everything said in the review to one side I knew I could trust the Passat whereas my past experience of owning Fords was pretty terrible. My old Golf on the other hand was excellent.
Mondeo titanium that has 237hp and 350nm torque is almost that of an wrx engine except no boxer in a sedan. Very impressive and should be a responsive car
***** I am not a fanboy of ford. But i can say that diesel engines of Ford are better than VWs (check please the PSA diesel engine), also ecoboost engines more effective than TSI engines. Check the rewards of motor for last 5 years.
I've read the comments and I thought I'd add my 2p worth even though the video is old now. I've been looking for a family car for a daily hack. I test drove the 2015 Passat 2.0 SE Business and the 2016 Mondeo 2.0 Titanium side by side on the same day from the same garage. The Mondeo looks good but that's where the Mondeo runs out of positives. The Passat doors shut with a pleasing "thunk", the Mondeo is tinny with a "clang". The fit and finish in the Passat is typically German, the Mondeo has cheap, hard plastics seen in the likes of old Daihatsu's. The last Mondeo was fun to drive but this model is soft and squidgy, it's too "American". Heating and ventilation in the Mondeo is adjusted by messing around with the laggy touch screen which in my opinion is dangerous. The Passat has proper physical knobs that take a split second to look at and adjust. The Passat I drove had 74,000 miles on the clock, it drove like new. The Mondeo had 52,000 miles and felt its age. Both had FSH. The Passat was a year older with more miles, and it was more expensive. It certainly felt premium where the Mondeo felt cheap. So you're probably thinking I bought the Passat? Well no, I bought neither. I'm looking at an Audi A6 on Monday 🤣
Here in the United States, the Mondeo (fusion) is one of the top selling vehicles next to other domestic vehicles. Even though the Passat is also a great contender in the Market. Its just more of a deal here for the Mondeo
I just picked up a 2016 passat 2.0tdi dsg business tech with 106k and it feels like a brand new car still. To compare vw and ford on build quility is a joke. I have had fords all my life and it stops here and now. The premium feel of the passat wins everytime. Stop saying fords have the better driving experience just because the mk1 Focus set the world alight in 1998 with its handling. Those days are gone. At 150k fords are scrap. At the same mileage in a VAG they still feel like new cars. End the bullshit
I drove both cars and I ordered the Mondeo. Better driving. but I have to admit, the Passat looks better on the inside. The amount of space in the boot and rear is just comparing Titanic with a oil tanker. Both are huge. Overall, the Mondeo just looks better in my opinion, the front of the Passat looks good, but when you check it's roofline and front window, it is just plain boring. The back is boring as well. The mondeo has a lot more options when spending the same amount of money.
The Mondeo Mk 4 and now Mk 5 are the best cars I've ever owned, not in every way, but in the way that counts: driving the bloody things. They are just fantastic driver's cars. I've driven a few Passats, though not the latest ones, and they are just not very good.
The Mondeo is far more attractive looking then the Passat. I have driven both and personally feel the handling on the Mondeo is far superior, lots of country lanes where I live. The nice 60mph lanes are perfect for the Mondeo (provided morons who drive 40 in a 30 and continue driving 40 in a now 60 zone. Not really knowing what the diagonal black line is-are not there). The Passat you tend to be careful about throwing around due to its inferior handling.
Mondeo kind looks like Aston Martin db9 from 2006. If i had to choose between these 2 cars i think i would go with the passat 2.0 TDI. Looks great too, lower mpg and better quality. They will hold on their price on the market.
adam hasan There is absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of Fords at all. I have had years and years of trouble free motoring from them. You are more likely to have issues with a Merc. A friend of mine can testify to that.
Adam Winter Buy a ford fiesta much better than a car for old people, you can always drive cars for old people. now you have a good reason to have a fiesta RS or something.
vw has bigger boot, superior materials used inside, chipper option costs, standard options includes more, bigger option list, quicker on overtake and take off, crispier on cornering, more efficient on fuel. Mondeo looks good for brits, not for germans, because of distinct face similarity with AM. Oh and I did test both models extensively for company mass purchase sake.
I personally choose the Passat. It's got a much better interior than the Mondeo, it's nowhere near as ugly as the Mondeo, and it looks like a fashionable car on the road.
i prefer , VW Passat !! i drive a Ford Focus 2008 model and Golf V 2008 model , ford usig a cheap plastic in interor like all amercan cars .. , and have a big consupation , VW have a great quality of plastic great engine !! anywere i chose a VW
If you buy a Passat you will know, in short period of time, all mechanics in your area. Why you ask? Because Vag engines have only 2 years of cover (!!!). It's shorter than your carloan ;) Bam. Happy Mondeo owner. After 180k miles runs and looks perfect.
You says that, I want to say. VAG engines after 100tk kilometers have more problems. Ford owners with mondeo drive and drive without problems to 300tk, and looks how new. It's true. Mondeo is more reliable. And looks better exterior and interior. Once where the passat is better, more place inside.
i have passat disel, 4wd, 240 and used about one months ...the car is really good and comfortable but we started have a problem with engine and now waiting results from service,,, as you see the best car could have problems,,,nothing is perfect....
Passat hasn't changed its interior desing since 2000 and exterior not much either, and relies on it's quality as a main reason why someone should buy it, while Ford made a big improvement over the styling of all its models. Passat is a boring car, that you buy for reliability, and nothing else, but sadly today that is more important than the style or pleasure of driving...
I've never liked a ford in my life but these Modeos keep catching my eye on the road.... They look almost like jags. Really nice looking cars
+Ben Wright They look more like those four door Aston Martins to me.
they are exactly the same car, jag xf, i think, body panels have ford mondeo on the back of them, basically a jag nowadays is a much more expensive mondeo.
+Ben Wright More like Aston Martins than jags.
I keep thinking it’s a Taurus, when it’s just a Mondeo, then I get disappointed.
Can't believe that Ford has finally come back to making vehicles that compete with their European counterparts. Hats off.
I'm driving the new mondeo for 4 weeks now and I have to say this car is realy amazing.

By the way, for whatever reason USA model of passat is sticking to the older more average design.
+zeebazu "It has a subdued sense of elegance that takes a little time to start to appreciate."
Maybe because is same fucking car every time ???
"A very cohesive and mature design I must say." Mature ? Sure, thats what i said.
Passat for quality mondeo for look and drive
Simple to score :)
what quality, both have bad quality
I BET YOUR NOT FROM THE UK
Passat clearly has better headroom and legroom.Mondeos sloping roof makes headroom poor.It is was stupid giving mondeo 10 for space. You are probably really short.
I'm 190 cm tall and fits perfectly in the backseat of a Mondeo
+Blood Sugar
That was another review with the panoramic roof. It takes about 5cm headroom.
C'mon man i'm a mondeo fan and even i don't believe it's much better than the Vw Passat .
The Vw Passat is the lider of it's class no dobt there ,i had two mondeos and now i'm thinking more on the Passat
Thanks great video !
Ponygt 662
I guess that's why the Passat is the bigger, roomier and quieter car.
kraenk12 B8 Passat is not quieter, its roomier
VW has really upped its minimalist approach in weight as well unlike Ford which is struggling to reduce weight,
VW uses more high strength boron steel than Ford does as well
Life is about compromises , with weight you gain great sound insulation and great Mullti Link suspension for additional comfort
what others perceive as negatives , other might perceive as the Icing in the Cake
Yaa this was how VW used to be a few years back, like the old Skoda Superb, its told that the old superb was built even more tougher than the Mercedes E class of its time, but the new one has shed considerable amount of weight,
Thr advantage of loosing weight is mighty, however the advantage of those insation or multi link rear may be the lighter car always wins, like better accelaration, better mileage, etc etc
Japanese cars for eg: they alwayz keep this secret, almost 90+% of Eastern cars are super lightweight built with inferior steel and will pack a numbet of airbags to nail safety ratings but the end result is better market share cuz aways people love better day to day performance, just 10% of people will appreciate Mondeos heft. And Ford is in heavy crisis in Europe,so making new Mondeo lighter wud ve paid Ford in boat loads.
Mondeo, is a looker and the Passat looks dated.
I don't like the interior on the VW either, that anodised grey metal dash panel is a bit passé?
so the passat feels like an audi? that could have a lot to do with the fact that its an Audi A4 with the badges changed, and not much else.
for me, the Mondeo wins every time. ive actually just bought the previous model, a 2010 2.0TDCi and, i tend to agree with this guy about the lack of mid range grunt. i changed my old 2001 mercedes C220cdi for the Mondeo and whereas the merc engine doesnt have the max RPM as high as the ford, the power band ran through most of the rev range, whereas the ford runs out of breath WAY to soon
The Ford Mondeo is such a beatiful car. And as almost every Ford models, fun to drive.
Passat it´s more of the same, like every new Audi...
WOW that's passat is allot nicer than our American one! Not as nice looking but the interior is surely superior.
Nothing wrong with VW engines it was the software that was fiddled with, and a lot of other car makers have been at it as well and time will reveal these!! My point with the original post was that the engine on a VW Passat mated to a DSG gearbox is not noisier than a manual transmission because they are basicaly the same.
Ford wins hands down!
hope they got rid of the inherant faults on the Mk4
like clutch or flywheel and premature failure of the aux belt tensioner
drviving an 05 M.at.mo.alernating with tdi 2000
must say the the VW has been trouble free one owner since new
And that woman gives a whole new dimension to the term dropping the clutch
Brutal
The roads here in countryside Fr are like.Flandrs after a shellacking
I think you must compare this new Passat with Audi A4, BMW série 3 or even Mercedes Classe C. Mondeo is now above passat general quality!
Not really their more plastics in the Mondeo...
I have a Mondeo 2015 diesel and believe me alot cheap and not decent materials inside and outside. But the look is grandiose!
When it ccomes to looks, the Mondeo wins hands down!
I have a 18 fusion SE, and, dude I shit my pants when that mondeo went all hatchback. I was blown back. I kinda wish my car would do that 😂
Mondeo
You never mentioned exterior looks. The Mondeo wins that one hands down. Imho
I totally agree, the Fusion is a nicer car than the Passat. It looks better, the interior looks better (even if it has cheaper materials), and it’s more practical.
mondeo, for the exclusivity, everyone else will be in audis or bmws
we can discuss for next thousand years but truth is that vw is making products which are all above golden middle. Almost flawless. I like both brands, and I was using both of them (passat and mondeo, focus and golf). They are all excellent cars for normal everyday use, and with higher trim levels (highline (with dsg) and titanium) they are superb ;)
Before this two I would buy refreshed mazda 6 (sports line). this car in this class is 9,5/10 for me!
The powershift ford transmissions are plagued by issues. The dsg units in VW are excellent gearboxes.
I owned both. The Passat was solid, the Mondeo is more comfortable, but I feel that it of cheaper materials
Maintenance? Which was more expensive?
The mondeo looks much sharper, I agree with your choice
never German cars wins in British program so its ok I already knew ford is going to win
It's a draw...
DAYM actually not he picked the Mondeo
Ashur Slivo He did himself. It was a subjective point of view as he said that "for him Mondeo wins". Then he asked the audience - which do you think is better?
They both scored 8/10.
The review isn't biassed or anything, they're looking at it objectively and they are correct. Most Europeans (especially eastern) will go for VW no matter what because it's a VW. Now that I think is stupid.
DAYM if you read my comment you would know what I mean it wasn't just this video its all over the British motor shows I always watch top gear fifth gear and many others when it came to germen cars its always something wrong ones he didn't even had something bad to say he just said its ugly so if want to know what I mean just watch there shows
Very true. That is almost always the case unfortunately.
Good review!
the general summary about each has not changed in over 20 years. Mondeo better to drive, Passat better quality.
In all these years, you would have thought VW would have poached some better test drivers from their rival...
Nice to see that the English and Dutch car journalists both make this comparison a draw...
Mondeo is much beautiful!
i have a 2016 fusion ! its weird seeing the drivers side on the right and its called mondeo
that's weird, but your profile pic is perfectly normal
@@MiguelGouveiaFreitas damn skippy my profile pic is weird , the last thing i want to do is be normal!!! lol normal is mindless sleepwalking sheeple !
U think that's weird, I had to adapt to driving on the WRONG side of the road! And shifting gears with my left!!!
@@MiguelGouveiaFreitas i bet that was difficult to adapt to!
@@kcleach9312 It's easy when u practice riding the streets of Sydney on a bicycle! One mistake and you're dead!
Ford or VW? Imagine if cars didn't come with warranties then make your decision!
Passat wins, it's just better value for money, it's better built and it's despite not having a premium badge it's desirable in a way that the Mondeo just isn't. I mean does it really matter so much how a 150bhp diesel family saloon drives? Not really, you want something which feels well built and gives good value for money and is reasonably comfortable.
one cant test performance in Richmond park please! speed limit is only 20 Max there.
Passat for me when you need to spend a lot of time in the car the quality and switch gear is much more important for me and the mid range umph .
Very impressive and should be a responsive car
i like ford mondeo
interior and gearbox -> passat
exterior and driving -> mondeo
engine -> mondeo
Devrim Arabaları engine -> mondeo??
VW group engines are amazing.2.0 tdi is one of most reliable and torquiest engines out there.
Devrim Arabaları German engines vs American engines. Obviously German engineering are so much better and efficient.
***** I am not a fanboy of ford. But i can say that diesel engines of Ford are better than VWs (check please the PSA diesel engine), also ecoboost engines more effective than TSI engines. Check the rewards of motor for last 5 years.
@@Xyb3rTeCh The 2.0 TDCI engine in the Mondeo is from PSA (Peugeot & Citroen)
The Passat every time. It is better made drives beautifully and has a far better image.
Mondeo, no doubt in my mind!
My ford mondeo has a drinking problem. A full tank is about 70 pounds and only gives me about 525 miles.
The passar looks like dacia logan mcv, plastic. The mondeo looks more like an luxury car, like jaguar.
Sorry for my bad english
I'm looking at an Audi A6 on Monday 🤣
i'm getting the mondeo :)
Thats the ford fusion here in the USA. The interior is much nicer here and uses Sync 2 a very intuitive software for the touch screen from Microsoft
Mondeo kind looks like Aston Martin db9 from 2006.
If i had to choose between these 2 cars i think i would go with the passat 2.0 TDI.
Looks great too, lower mpg and better quality. They will hold on their price on the market.
I prefer the Ford Mondeo because it's fun to drive, new safety technologies and the interior is clutter-free.
Its particularly designed by volvo and definitely has best safety
Both are very good but I utterly hate badge snobbery and its associated wankers so give me the Ford any day as it represents much better value.
Fords are cheap inside and cheap all over but if you like that sort of thing
adam hasan There is absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of Fords at all. I have had years and years of trouble free motoring from them. You are more likely to have issues with a Merc. A friend of mine can testify to that.
I am just waiting until I can pass my driving test to buy a 2015 mondeo
+Adam Winter good choice
+Adam Winter are you like 40years old ? lol
+TheZwerfer14 nope 17
Adam Winter Buy a ford fiesta much better than a car for old people, you can always drive cars for old people. now you have a good reason to have a fiesta RS or something.
Huge car for a newbie driver. I would go for something a lot smaller if I was you. The Fiesta is a stunner; easy to drive and park.
Just put a deposit down on the mondeo 150 2.0 tdci titanium with xpack buy the passat if you want to be bored to death
I can't fit in the Mondeo so I must buy the Passat
should have mentioned the dsg gearbox has a lot of issues so running cost goes to the ford.
Also the Powershit gearbox from Ford is junk.
vw has bigger boot, superior materials used inside, chipper option costs, standard options includes more, bigger option list, quicker on overtake and take off, crispier on cornering, more efficient on fuel.
The Ford Mondeo looks like a supermodel. Passat looks like the girl who works at the local chip shop with huge braces! LOL
Passat for me, engines and fuel economy seem good and it looks better
Mondeo ST is mine tomorrow
When i look to passat i think just "yes it is a new model of vw", but when i look to new moondeo i think "woaaavvww"
Ford mondeo definitely does the job.. 😏😏
+Andy Joy Ford all the way for me.
i prefer , VW Passat !! i drive a Ford Focus 2008 model and Golf V 2008 model , ford usig a cheap plastic in interor like all amercan cars .. , and have a big consupation , VW have a great quality of plastic great engine !! anywere i chose a VW
It's got to be the Passat
Just the opposite as what carbuyer said
Yep
Nope
Still no ;)
The Mondeo is a stunner and past Mondeos have proven records. No contest.
4:41. Nissan Qashqai?
Both good cars, the Mondeo has the edge in terms of styling for a car in this class.
Seriously are you comparing vw with ford???
moron, have you driven both cars?
kamz khan I agree. No way I would touch the VW. I am not my mechanic's best friend to pay for his new boat.
Yes, and the Ford is better.
You right. Passat want comparing with Dacia
I drive a Ford Mondeo and its a 1.5 Diesel
Passat hasn't changed its interior desing since 2000 and exterior not much either, and relies on it's quality as a main reason why someone should buy it, while Ford made a big improvement over the styling of all its models. Passat is a boring car, that you buy for reliability, and nothing else, but sadly today that is more important than the style or pleasure of driving...
+ivanao1 Have you seen the activ info display?? Go and check if you have that in the Mondeo:)
The new Passeratti is so beautiful !
Mondeo is much much beautiful.
In this type of cars is more important the comfort and insulation that the fun factor. And this test don't tell me which is better.
