If you fire an employee right before theft charges came up against you with the theft traceable to you, you are going to get brutalized in a wrongful termination lawsuit..... what is your defense, i fired them for refusing to help me steal from the company? you may as well say jail me please to law enforcement
It's not theft. It's his own money and company. The issue is that Axe agreed not to trade as part of an agreement with the government so he would be violating that "no trade" agreement. And if Taylor only came out against him AFTER being fired, that would give her story less credibility since it could easily be chalked up to a bitter ex employee making up stories. But I agree, it's still risky to break the law and there's no need for it as Wags says but Bobby likes the rush.

One can clearly tell how great the acting is, observe an almost Shakespearean style of script and delivery (though moved into modern high finance jargon) and the undeniable drama and entertainment quality, all obvious to me from the few episodes of this show I have seen. All this is even more explicit in these outtakes. What puts me off, despite all that mentioned above, is that it still remains a show about an untouchable elite of new financial nobility/royalty in a world of overwhelming poverty and misery. In this very clip, Axe is warned against moving 2 billion dollars through criminal means. 2 billion!!! An amount of money almost out of scope of comprehension for a single person, numbers more fitting for countries. All while normalizing the same system that's slowly making the Canadian housing market no longer accessible to the regular Canadians unless they become lifelong indentured servants to a bank. Even if Axe does it by regular means, the sheer financial gravity of such funds settling into reality produces consequences in the society that one shudders to think of. Trivializing all that is the one sin of this show I can't get over.
Wags is more on the down low kinda do things in the light and the dark and keep things moving in silence keep-to-himself kinda guy. Running a Hedgefund or any kind of high profile value target entity like that is not quite his style, he's made that clear before.
