It existed. It was what the city was called before, the people would have recognized the name. They also sometimes called themselves lyrically Byzantine in literature but I understand what you mean. These were Hellenes who carried over the Eastern part of the Roman Empire untill it fell in 1453. They were the only ones who had Roman citizenship but because they lost in 1453, the reviving West controlled the narrative. Greeks of Byzantium what they call them. The same with the Ottomans and their successors in order to claim sovereignty over the land.

@@alexor081 nope . Not the single time in their history call themselves like that. Until 1453 .
They would call themselves Romans or Greeks and nothing else .
Also the city had changed name centuries ago.
There is not a single Roman document mentioning the empire as Byzantine.
That is French and Germanic propaganda after 1453

also, the Abbasids were not really Arabs, they dependent on the Persian element in their military for the first 70 years and even made Persian the official language of the state, then they brought the Turks as the main military component of the army, and they did not like the Arabs

The Abbasid Caliphate, originally of Arab origin as they descended from the Quraysh tribe (the same as the Prophet Muhammad), moved their capital to Baghdad in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq). Over time, Persian cultural influence became highly significant in the region. Throughout their rule, the Abbasids oversaw a fusion of Arab and Iranian (Persian) traditions in governance, the arts, and scientific achievements.
Therefore, you could refer to the Abbasid Caliphate as an Arab caliphate with strong Persian influence.

@@warandhonor The Abbasids are descendants of Abbas the uncle of the prophet Mohamed, but they abolished and destroyed the Arab element in the government, and the Arabs were replaced by the Persians at first, even making the Persian language the governmental corresponding language, after about 70 years the Turks replaced the Persians and the Arabic language returned to be the main language, to give you an example of how much they distrusted the Arabs and did not like them, the first Abbasid caliph Abbo al-abbas the butcher ordered his supreme military commander a man called Abo Muslim al-khorasani (he was of Persian origins) to kill anyone who speaks Arabic in Khorasan, and those were by the hundreds of thousands, if had not done that Iran and Afghanistan would have been speaking Arabic today

Basil I was not the greatest emperor since the time of Justinian, Heraclius, Constantine IV, Leo III, and Constantine V would beg to differ.

2:08 this is where I stopped watching.
It was not a "self-proclaimed Roman empire. "
It was the Roman empire according to the laws of succession the titles of ownership of the Roman empire had.
    This was also true
According to every single source in the history of mankind until 1453
