Damn, Morrison's Batman run is one of my all time favorites, but I get that it's a confusing in a vacuum and with only minimal context. I've also been enjoying Savage Sword of Conan much, much more than any of its contemporaries, both its art and script are a lot more enjoyable, while I find most bronze and even some silver age stuff dull, with a lot of text saying a whole lot of nothing.
As a Morrison fan, I liked but didn't love Batman, specifically the post-Final Crisis segment. It may just be that I spent too long between RIP/FC and Batman & Robin, but I wished less of it was about finding Bruce and more was about Dick & Damian. I was also a bit disappointed since I'd waited years for it, and had hyped it up a lot. I felt the same about Hickman's Avengers saga. Morrison did have a lot of great artists, though.
Ya Grant Morrison's Batman run is my favourite Batman run ever, it's incredible. Really surprised to see it on this list. I read the trades, not the omni, and I remember reading Final Crisis as well to go with it, but I think that's all that would be missing from the omni.

I know we are only the consumer of these products and don't know what happens behind the scenes , but some of the decisions to print out books in specific format is so weird. Like who needs a New 52 Zero/Issue 1 Omnibus? Seriously, who asks for this? And why would somebody buy it?(Especially at the price tag of 150$!) I'm generally curious
some of the decisions on what to print and what to leave out are truly baffling. gem mentioned superior spiderman for the second time that I've heard. and I don't think there's a black panther omnibus.. despite the character's popularity and the kirby connection.
if you don't like the character, don't buy the book. That would be like if I bought the upcoming Moon Knight Omnibus and said it was the worse when I never cared to even give Moon Knight a chance. Conan had a good run in the 70s and John Buscema and Roger Thomas did a good job.
'Conan had a good run in the 70s and John Buscema and Roger Thomas did a good job.' That's an understatement. JB drew the perfect Conan for such a long time that everyone else is a pale comparison.
Good point, also I wouldn't go for The savage sword of Conan's Marvel's version on glossy paper. Instead look for the dark horse version. I'm a Conan hardcore fan, I like the old style phonebook paper printings.
Yep, I don’t understand why people do this. I don’t like Marvel much, and there are only a few characters in the DC Universe that I like, but even then, I only buy select stories and runs that I enjoy reading. I love Batman, but not every Batman story is a good story to me.
I enjoy the buscema Conan stuff and I think Roy Thomas was a fine scripted. However, the Barry Windsor-Smith drawn issues at the start of the title are by far my favorite.
Not really a big spider man guy but that sounded really interesting! I’m gonna check it out, Morning Glories was the series that got me into going to the comic book store regularly
It’s well written but for me it’s all about Lieber’s art. That full page spread of the mansion heist (you know what I mean if you’ve read it) is in my top 5 splash pages of all time.
I don’t think the GA, SA, BA omnis should’ve been on here. They’re well made and are for people who want to collect them. They’re not bad at all. I love a lot of the Bronze Age stuff and have the Joker, House of Secrets 1 & 2, and House of Mystery Bronze Age omnibuses. I get that the GA and SA don’t really hold up well compared to modern comics, but they’re made for collectors who want a glimpse into those times. If we didn’t have them, then people wouldn’t even have the opportunity to see just how far comics have come.
I first got in to MOKF way back when issue 80 came out.I stuck with it til the final issue. For years now I thought that Shang Chi was my 2nd favorite character(after Man Thing).I recently realized that it's really not Shang Chi that I like so much, its the original Master Kung Fu where he is with Nayland Smith,Tarr,Clive Reston,Fu Manchu and all those crazy villians. That will always be my all time favorite comic series.Shang Chi just by himself is no where near as interesing or fun.I do like him in Deadly Hands of Kung Fun.Bleeding Black from ,990 I think, wasn't bad.I will have to re read the Max series..I did like that one, since Clive and Leiko were back. But this 21st century version of Shang Chi..man I just can't get in to it.And I have no interest in the movie.Looks like they just wanted to add some mystical hoo hah and lots of pretty special effects to make it resemble Mortal Kombat.
@@adamsmashups4839 I'm right there with you. My first issue was #75. That era of globe-trotting spy adventures was fantastic! Leiko, Black Jack, and the rest made for an amazing supporting cast. And I loved Brynocki. I wasn't a fan of the mystical stuff in the movie and I hope that the sequel gives us more of the Bond-ian action that I remember.
@@adamsmashups4839 I'm trying to get into Shang-Chi myself as a martial arts fan and comic collector it seems a blend of tropes and action I'd love Are the arcs or issues you mentioned collected in any omni or absolute kind of form?
Compilation books are so unnecessary, when there is so many runs that asks for an Omnibus. For example - Black Panther by Priest or Hudlin, Nova by Anett/Lanning Omnibus???
Plus since they printed on the Magazine Format. They didn't have to abide by that annoying CCA tag & all the content in this gem of a series was uncensored and at times explicit. Also.....not a big 2 or superhero fan so these classic old school series were a godsend.
My goodness, so many great books in this list, it makes me cringe. Those monsters and suspense books are the true foundations of the Marvel universe and hidden gems. The Savage sword books are classics and beautiful. The tangled web series is the only good Spider-man we have seen in over 25 years. Golden age, silver age, bronze age; the very history of comics books and you like none of them! My, I admit they're not for everyone but for those who want them they're genuine treasures. Stick to you Venom omnis I guess... I'm just glad they don't discriminate and release books for everyone's tastes!
Those suspense/monsters books are some of the best of Marvel of all tie. Ditko and Kirby doing their short comics all collected in one spot and complete.
You lost me after the Muppets one. I agree the compilation omnibuses kind of suck. Just random issues here and there, though I got the John Byrne ones because I love his art and they were cheap after being liquidated by Marvel. I agree with you about the golden and silver age omnis too. That's some tough reading as is anything earlier than bronze age. And yeah, hard pass on Muppets omnis, which should be in cheap smaller sized books for kids. But, man, Elektra by Miller and Sienkiewicz? Superior Foes of Spider-Man? Batman by Morrison? Flash by Geoff Johns? Conan with John Buscema and Barry Windsor-Smth art? These are all some of the best books of their respective eras and companies.
I was actually pleasantly surprised with some of his choices. I thought Superior Foes was very overrated. I think Grant Morrison is very overrated. Also, a good chunk of this comes down to personal taste. In some of these cases he's really listing books he regrets buying. Tough to call something the worst without reading it
I don’t do compilations whether its comics or music. I want the whole story/album or nothing. And that Morrison Batman run is convoluted even when you read everything. Morrison did his research, and expected you to do the same when he was writing this one. I’m a die hard Batman fan and I needed Wikipedia to help me stay up with the story on that run...
Same. I heavily relied on Wikipedia for Morrison’s run. But I grew to love it. The issues that will be in Vol 3 are his best, and are easier reading IMO. They define Damian Wayne. I highly recommend diving into Vol 3 when it comes out Gem.
I would love to have that Conan set, that early run with Roy Thomas and BWS are classics! Have you seen the live action movies with Arnold? They're what got me into the Character as a kid. Sometimes seeing a world brought to life can spark an interest in reading about it.
Shang chi, really? Big mistake. those comics are awesome full of non stop action, great art with great writing full of great stories that are not fillers at all. you must of have been reading it at the wrong time of the day/night haha
I try to only collect what characters I like, so I wouldn’t say I had any omnibus I don’t like. I haven’t read them all yet and some are outside my normal, so time will tell. Great video! Thanks!!
I kinda agree with most of the books on your list but for me the Master of Kung Fu Omnibuses are a dream come true since I grew up around that era. And its the only place you will find WHAT IF? 16 reprinted, because of rights issues as it was omitted from WHAT IF THE COMPLETE COLLECTION Vol 2 TPB. Keep up the great work! :)
You definitely have to give Flash another try. Once you get used to the artwork, I think it's really entertaining. The rogues are pretty interesting characters too. Putting Morrison's Batman in a worst 10 is a little bit harsh too. But I guess it's a matter of taste.
The Geoff Johns Flash run is a slow start for new Flash fans. Once you get past the first couple of storylines, it really picks up. I can see how some of the older Marvel Conan series may not appeal to everyone. But you should really try to pick up the Conan by Busiek and Nord Omni coming later this year because it's one of the best Conan runs printed. This particular volume was originally published by Dark Horse and their approach to the book was going back to the original Robert E Howard Conan stories and redoing them in a linear fashion. With some issues acting as a bridge between two original Howard stories. The essence of Conan is back to an original form. And the artwork is original and unique; it looks more painted than drawn and colored. If that book doesn't make you come around to the character of Conan, nothing will. And speaking of bad omnis, I have to say I'm disappointed in DC's Starman omnis. Not the story itself, it's amazing, but the fact that they're collected into 6 thin omnis. 2 big volumes would be perfect and ideal. The thin ones are also out of print too. I just want a proper Omnibus for that great story. If you haven't read Starman yet, it's one of the best series you haven't read.
I personally LOVE Savage Sword of Conan. It’s probably the comic/magazine that got me in the hobby. Those covers were incredible. I’m a BIG Daredevil guy now (thanks mostly to the Netflix series and ASM cameos). Thank you for another GREAT REVIEW!!
The Marvel Universe by Byrne vol1 or 2 are definitely good. They contain more then one 10-15 issues of continuous stuff. Compilation books are not bad because they contain various stuff, but those that contain stuff that don't match together are shit like the Future's End or those first issue books you mentioned. I don't mind you to share what you didn't like because maybe this way they aren't going to be oop. 😎
The Johns run of Flash does get much better. His run starts out kind of plain-Jane, but he eventually starts tying some stuff together. The Zoom stuff was well done. An interesting concept as well as a brutal villain.
Gem counts down the 10 worst omnibus in his collection - should have been the title. Have to disagree on most of the books on the list. You should have decided upon certain categories and weighed them accordingly. I loved those Silver and Golden age stuff. I crave for that stuff. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. If you hated Morrison's Batman, then you should skip his current GL run. If you don't like "walls of text", then Bendis will give you just that. Edit: That was some Sheldon level rant.
Why do the Byrne books make those stacks? Those were both targeted at fans of the artist and weren’t the only artist-centric books released. Considering Byrne’s status in the industry, as well as among fans who follow artists and NOT characters (trust me, we exist), omnibuses devoted to industry legends - especially if they did a lot of one-offs, mini-series, covers, or limited runs on established series, as Byrne did - are a godsend. I get the other books being on those piles, sort of, but even then, Marvel shouldn’t just cater to fans of specific heroes who have to have everything related to that hero. There are many readers who primarily enjoy following artists’ careers, as mentioned, or enjoy compendiums of specific eras, or like collections of lesser-known and one-off characters that don’t really work when they’re buried in omnibuses relating to a primary character we might not be that interested in. For fans who aren’t endlessly tethered to specific heroes shouldn’t be ignored, and I’m glad Marvel in particular understands that. 🙂
I found a great store in Britain. But the shipping on 20 - might have been just 10 - comics was about $50! I'm not even sure I should be buying any comics. So that shipping is too much for me.
I remember buying the complete Bone, but then I had to graduate college so I never read it. I gave it my younger brother who loved it, so in the end all all worked out, no regrets. If he still has it somewhere maybe I'll finally read it in a few years LOL.
Yeah, most of the books you mentioned on your list don’t appeal to me either - except for Conan. I’m into just getting the Conan The Barbarian omnis because I have fond memories of reading some issues as a kid. Surprised to see Shang Chi on the list. Those stories are a little dated but Doug Moench is a good writer and they had some amazing artists working on those. Oh well, I hope you like the movie when it comes out.
The women of marvel omnibus is pretty bad. A random assortment of ok stories that don't really tie in. I saw it in the background there. I don't mind the creator series of marvel omnibus. They don't tie in all that well but they're fun individual stories. It's a shame about the Miles Morales ultimate spider-man omnibus because the story there is great. Great video.
Something that always puts me off reading main line comics is the fact that to get the full story you have to read an issue of a separate storyline from another character. The CW TV shows did this as well and it completely destroyed my interest in them
I can understand your not liking the Bronze & Silver- Age stuff. The writing was much different back then but your not liking the Conan vol.1 & Savage Sword hurts a bit. They were my favs in high school but I guess they were products of their times . You had to be there. They were revolutionary for their time. I hope they were good examples of how the medium keeps evolving, for the better I think. The books today are awesome. Hope you stick with collecting & your collection is awe inspiring.
Nooooo, man!!! Superior Foes of Spider-Man is sooooo crazy and fun. And thank Marvel for Miles Morales having a new print coming up. He doesn’t deserve this crappy binding treatment.
Just be particular on your bronze age DC omnibus. Swamp thing, house of mystery and house of secrets is pretty cool but yeah i wouldn't get golden age stuff at all
Should of titled it top 10 I have no intention of reading. Calling these the worst when you didn’t even read some of them is just sad. It’s basically saying f.u to the fans of these titles.
Dang, I love Savage Sword of Conan. Just got the cheaper DC TPB collections 1-6. Would love the better quality Marvel omnis, but the price difference is so big that I do not think it is worth it (Especially with B&W print). While I do not really like that much the old DC stuff (with the exception of old Superman, from the time before DC "standardized" his powers), Conan is a completely different beast. Beasts, blood, in-picture tearing of limbs, heads and other body-parts, half (or completely) naked women, etc. I'm not sure if there are some "independent" comics like that nowadays, but at least Marvel/DC do not put out anything like it anymore.
Why not sell them then? Seriously, I can see like 20 of the golden and silver age omnibuses on the shelves. All those ones at the start and then like 11 books between Conan and Shang Chi. There must be over $5000 worth of books there. That's not even counting the individual books on this list.
IDK bro, marvel firsts is a pretty decent read for someone who is just getting introduced to comics... i clearly wouldn't be saying this because I have a stock pile of these book, hoping and praying that they go up in price... PUMP MY BOOK PRICES GEM!
I‘m collecting comics since 1992 and imo Conan is the greatest action, fantasy, horror, adventure, comic book series ever created. Believe me, you should give Conan a second change. Not everything is bad or uncool because it 50+ years old.
I stopped collecting specific series, mostly because of artist. Some artist’s work would be so overwhelming it was distracting. If I buy anything now, it’s artist specific; a certain artist’s run, or ‘The Art Of’ a specific artist. I find that more appealing.
I wasn't a fan if Elektra Omnibus either. And I just ordered the new printing of Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man Omni. Also, have the new printing of The Flash by Geoff Johns. It looks like DC will have 2 volumes instead of 3. (Guesstimate, by how thick the new vol. 1 is). Your library is impressive, and I always browse along your shelves as I view your videos. I have no intentions of amassing a collection as vast as yours, maybe enough to fill 1 4x4 Kallax and 2 3x4 Kallax. I have a whales list, a want list and a wish list. The only ongoing omnis I will be interested in are the Avengers volumes from 5 on up. Appreciate you Gem!
The Electra Omnibus is definitely not my favorite thing ever, but I didn't hate it as much as you. Since omnibuses are pretty expensive even when in print, I only tend to buy the ones where I really think I'm going to love most of the content within the omnibus. X-Men Inferno Prologue (not an official omnibus but it's still as thick as one) might be the one exception, but it's still part of Chris Claremont's run, so I'm keeping it in there. My recommendation would be to just buy the stuff you think you're going to like, but I'm sure you've heard that advice before.
I also had binding problems with my Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man omnibus. I was able to read it but very, very carefully. Always seemed like the pages where hanging on by a tiny speck of glue. Love the story though.
I never understood keeping a book in the collection that I didnt like or enjoy. The completionist phrase makes sense to me but I like my collection to reflect who I am n what I love in comics. Get sum of them books off ur back yo! Could be worse, like MrX gettin stuff he kno nothing about I suppose n just have lots of things Lol
Personal worst for me is the marvel planet of the apes omni. I was getting back into comics recently, and as someone who loves the movies, when I saw the paperback for $35 at the comic shop, I picked it up, but then I saw the omnibus version and decided to swap them out, until noticing the omni was $100 msrp. Its only 11 issues, so $100 is absolutely buck wild. Most omnibus at that price seem to be about 30ish issues, so I have no idea what they were thinking. Purely on the basis of an insane $65 upcharge for being a hardcover, its gotta be one of the worst.
Gem, you should do a signed copy of these omnis for the 95K or 100K subscriber mark (maybe even smaller goals in between)! i would love to have a omni with you and Phie's signatures/comments. that way you don't have to hold onto these omnis BUT they will stay in the family/gempire. Great video; almost gave me a heartattack when the Miles Morales omni showed up (i am thinking about purchasing the re-print). Stay fresh!
If you still have Savage Sword of Conan Omni Vol Nos. 2, 3, Conan the Barbarian Omni Vol. 3 and Master of Kung Fu Omni Vol. 4, I'd be interested in purchasing those.
I like most of the books on this lists LOL. Spider-Man Tangled Webs was one of my favorite runs @ the time it was coming out. I liked reading about the stuff happening around Spider-Man. Superior Foes of spider-man is one of Spencer’s best runs. The Miles omnibus I have not opened in fear of it falling apart. Overall still like the Video thanks for sharing! 👍🏻
I am finding that origins of characters or the early runs of characters can be pretty hard to get through. The Incredible Hulk run of 6 comics was really hard to get through and the origin of the Hulk was retold in almost every issue. They really wanted to make sure you knew how the Hulk got started. Iron Man was also pretty hard to get through, for me. His Iron suit could be folded up like a pair of cotton socks and shirts. Pretty dumb. And the Justice Society origins, also very simple stuff. The Human Torch, the golden age characters and Toro, OMG, plus Sub Mariner. So dumb. I bought like three early Torch books thinking it would be really cool. Now I have two more to go and I have zero desire to look at it. I think I just want to belong to something and to fit in. I try to force my squareness into a round hole and I just don't fit in. I wish I could be a proper nerd or geek. smh.
I'm not sure I understand the "Not my era" bit you brought up with Conan and Shang-Chi. That doesn't make sense to me. I mean, if I based my enjoyment on something from my era, I would miss out on a million amazing movies, books, and comics. :-) Out of the omnibuses I own, my least favorites are the Spider-Man by Erik Larsen and Guardians of the Galaxy Solo Adventures books. For Spider-Man, I don't like the omnibus because they skip around issues. Like it has issues from multi-story arcs in it, but not the full arc, rendering it pointless for them to even be there in the first place. I get that the full stories to some of them is in the McFarlane Omnibus, but then why even bother including them at all when people could just read them in that one? It's utter bullshit. As for the Guardians Solo adventures, I just don't like it because it's just a bunch of randomized stories. I like my omnibuses to be complete runs or something, not just a bunch of random issues from every comic imaginable just because it featured a character who is involved with the movies. Honestly, the only reason I got it was because I had store credit to a place called 2nd and Charles and it was the only thing they had for me to spend that credit on. Oh, and I guess I'll also mention I hate the oversized hardcover of Spider-Verse because of how asinine it is put together. They have a freaking page at the beginning of the book telling you the order to read the issues in. WHY NOT JUST PRINT THE ISSUES IN THAT FREAKING ORDER????????!!!! Instead, they make you flip around throughout the book trying to find those issues to read in their proper order. Makes no god damn sense whatsoever.
About a month or two ago I started a huge final crisis binge with death of the new gods, seven soldiers, final crisis omni, the two Morrison omni’s,battle of the Cowl, and Red Robin and I really loved it. I can see what you are saying with the Batman omni’s being confusing by themselves but they really are great when you read everything together. Edit: to answer the end question yes! I purchased the Grayson omnibus and I hate it so much I got about 1/4th of the way done and can’t finish it. I didn’t really like dick as the agent and I never liked Kings writing
Ryan Wilson well there’s a lot more to read between and before final crisis but I’ll give you the reading order of final crisis here ---------- Batman #655-675. Dc universe #0. The flash #240-241. Teen titans #59-60. Birds of prey #118. JLA #21. Batman #676-681,701. Final crisis #1. Final crisis requiem. Terror titans #1-6. Final crisis #2. Final crisis rogues revenge #1-3. Final crisis #3. Dc universe the last will and testament. Final crisis Superman beyond #1-2. FC Legion of three worlds #1-5. FC secret files #1. Final crisis revelations #1-5. Final crisis resist. Final crisis submit. Final crisis #4-5. Batman #682-683. Final crisis #6-7. Superman/Batman #76. Batman #702........ DC Universe#0 is where final crisis actually starts. If you can afford it get the final crisis omnibus... it has everything you need in reading order besides Batman #655-675 and after #701. (Those are in the Grant Morrison Batman omni’s get those too). Sorry if this is long and confusing I can explain more if you need me too
Ryan Wilson if you want to get more out of the story read these things (they are not necessary so you can skip).... start with death of the new gods. Then Morrison’s seven soldiers of victory. (Read these before final crisis/dc universe #0). After final crisis if you’re reading the Morrison Batman omni’s they get really confusing so after you finish final crisis, read battle for the cowl (you can find this really cheap in a small paperback or online) and after that read Red Robin #1-26. After Red Robin start omni 2 of Morrison batman (omni 2 starts with Batman and Robin #1)
Ryan Wilson nah. Red Robin before Batman and robin, and you don’t really need to read countdown but you can if you want. It’s very useless and Morrison and other writers just ignore it. Issue #50 is all you need to read
Yooo! Love the channel! Broooo you gotta give Master of Kung Fu omnis another chance! Doug Moench is an amazing writer, and those Galacy panels are action packed! Just try em again!
Sorry for such a late comment ha ha. Re watching this and I have the same issue with Seven To Eternity Deluxe as you have with Miles Morales. The binding is crap. The ribbon is glued super tight to the spine so when you open the book the pages just strait up peel off of the ribbon. I have on my third copy loosened the ribbon away from the spine. Next step will be to glue the ribbon back to the pages. Was a mess.
Placing John Buscema's Conan on a list of the worst completely lost me. Right away I know this fellow doesn't know squat about art. Most of the Omnibus work IS actually crap, but BUSCEMA??? Just because you don't like the genre of story in no way detracts from the excellence of the production. BUSCEMA??? The same guy Stan Lee called "The Michelangelo of the Comics?"
I think the only omnibus I’ve bought that I’ve been disappointed with would be Brightest Day. I got it because of the oversized artwork, but I knew it didn’t have any of the tie ins. It still disappoints me that this omnibus didn’t have any tie ins. Book is still gorgeous.....just didn’t have anything other than the brightest day main issues.
Conan on this list??? BLASPHEMY! Nah just kidding, all to their own.. :) I love Conan but I've gotten from almost hating that kind of stuff, to now being obsessed about it. Maybe it could happen to you in time? Otherwise - sell them all to me! :D

I've heard there are one or two new omnis coming out late this year I think. But whoa whoa whoa, just as i was typing have seen Shang Chi getting grief right at the end - I'm a huge fan so may have to go back and re-evaluate everything I've just said!!!! Loved the video

I've also been enjoying Savage Sword of Conan much, much more than any of its contemporaries, both its art and script are a lot more enjoyable, while I find most bronze and even some silver age stuff dull, with a lot of text saying a whole lot of nothing.
Morrison's Batman run is legendary.
As a Morrison fan, I liked but didn't love Batman, specifically the post-Final Crisis segment. I was also a bit disappointed since I'd waited years for it, and had hyped it up a lot. I felt the same about Hickman's Avengers saga. Morrison did have a lot of great artists, though.

if you don't like the character, don't buy the book.
Damn you going disrespect superior foes like that, that is one of my favorite comics of the last decade
Each to their own but I love that Superior foes volume as well
Not really a big spider man guy but that sounded really interesting! I’m gonna check it out, Morning Glories was the series that got me into going to the comic book store regularly
+1, It’s awesome!
I mean, it was okay...
Personally I love the DC and Marvel Golden Age/Silver Age/Bronze Age Omnibus's. I would love to see DC go deeper into there library.
To each his own but Master of Kung Fu was an amazing comic, especially when Doug Moench took over the writing.
@@adamsmashups4839 I'm trying to get into Shang-Chi myself as a martial arts fan and comic collector it seems a blend of tropes and action I'd love
Are the arcs or issues you mentioned collected in any omni or absolute kind of form?
@@TheMightyMidget I believe the entire series has been printed in 4 omnibuses.
Big shout out to gulacy and Zeck
Compilation books are so unnecessary, when there is so many runs that asks for an Omnibus.
For example - Black Panther by Priest or Hudlin, Nova by Anett/Lanning Omnibus???
Sorry, but I personally love the Marvel Conan Omnibus run! It has been well done.
They're fantastic books. Rascally Roy and Big John's Conan were some of the best comics of the '70's. Sorry Gem's not into it, but I love this stuff.
Its boring
Plus since they printed on the Magazine Format. They didn't have to abide by that annoying CCA tag & all the content in this gem of a series was uncensored and at times explicit. Also.....not a big 2 or superhero fan so these classic old school series were a godsend.
I wonder if this list would change with all the new stuff that has been released over the past three years?
Finally someone calling out the Elektra omnibus- it was crap. Sold for a profit.
The golden, silver, and bronze age DC omnibus opinion was one thing, but the Conan omnibuses were pure blasphemy.
Man, I was ready to throw down for 52 for a second.
lol
Tough to call something the worst without reading it
100 agree with the OC
How can you hate Grant Morrison’s Batman?
I don’t do compilations whether its comics or music. I want the whole story/album or nothing.
And that Morrison Batman run is convoluted even when you read everything. Morrison did his research, and expected you to do the same when he was writing this one. I’m a die hard Batman fan and I needed Wikipedia to help me stay up with the story on that run...
lol good to know
That is.exactly why i love morrison's writing 😅
Doesn’t Compilation books or sampler book defeat the purpose of omnibus
good point... kind of does
Was loosing a lot of respect until you pulled 52 back from the brink.
That book rules
Superior Foes rules.
Morrisons Batman is god-tier
Elektra Assassin is a trip.
Some great creative stories in tangled Web.
Gem, I know you are a collector but you gotta sell some of these haha. Don't hold onto books you don't want just for a cool background
Thanks!!
Agreed. Just finished Miles Morales omnibus. Took me almost 2 years. Omnibus are a commitment.
I will take the Grant Morrison Batman Omnibuses off your hands
Agree with Batman Morrison didn’t like it as much as other Batman omnis
I kinda agree with most of the books on your list but for me the Master of Kung Fu Omnibuses are a dream come true since I grew up around that era. And its the only place you will find WHAT IF? 16 reprinted, because of rights issues as it was omitted from WHAT IF THE COMPLETE COLLECTION Vol 2 TPB. Keep up the great work! :)
On compilation books: The Byrne ones are awesome because his “runs” were short and we all want his great art.
The fact you put Flash by Johns on here 🤦🏻♂️
Made the whole list/opinion invalid
😘
@Jazz Cabbage Comics AGREED!
You definitely have to give Flash another try. Once you get used to the artwork, I think it's really entertaining. The rogues are pretty interesting characters too. Putting Morrison's Batman in a worst 10 is a little bit harsh too. But I guess it's a matter of taste.
You need to keep Shang Chi 1 & 2 for the Gulacy artwork. The stories are good too.
Bummed to see you put the Kung-Fu omnis on there! If you're looking to start culling the herd and sell, I would be interested, though. 😉😂
Never have Atlantis Attacks and Avengers The Crossing been so happy not to be included on this list.
lol they almost made it
Avengers The Crossing has an omnibus? Jesus fucking christ...
@@JudgementalGoat
Don't be dissing Crossing Omnibus.😍
Absolutely, the Zoom storyline was emotional as hell, especially the ending I fucking cried hard when Barry showed up with Hal to help Wally
The Monsterbuses and Suspense Omnibuses are Silver Age Marvels creme de la creme.
Collections need a focus. Buying everything under the sun is blindness.
Broo I was LEGIT about to start trippin’ on why that 52 OMNIBUS was on this list haha ! 😂
would love to buy from from Cheap graphic novels, but after applying international shipping they become extremely expensive graphic novels
I found a great store in Britain. But the shipping on 20 - might have been just 10 - comics was about $50! I'm not even sure I should be buying any comics. So that shipping is too much for me.
Ngl Morrison's run on Batman is my favorite 😂
Hello hello from Japan another awesome video
Mike Zeck and Paul Gulacy.
Swamp thing, house of mystery and house of secrets is pretty cool but yeah i wouldn't get golden age stuff at all
Master of Kung Fu ... no way it’s sweeeeeet
Should of titled it top 10 I have no intention of reading. Calling these the worst when you didn’t even read some of them is just sad. It’s basically saying f.u to the fans of these titles.
good point
Shang-Chi should not have been on that list.
Give me those Conan's. I am Poor. lol
Your doing Shang-Chi dirty man! Lol Hopefully the movie will be somewhat interesting
You should put your money into things that you enjoy and want to read. Sell the books you dislike and invest that money into other things.
Elektra is one of my favourites lol
I also had binding problems with my Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man omnibus. I was able to read it but very, very carefully. Always seemed like the pages where hanging on by a tiny speck of glue. Love the story though.
I never understood keeping a book in the collection that I didnt like or enjoy. The completionist phrase makes sense to me but I like my collection to reflect who I am n what I love in comics. Get sum of them books off ur back yo! Could be worse, like MrX gettin stuff he kno nothing about I suppose n just have lots of things Lol
Mostly Marvel. What a surprise 😂😂
My least favorite is Star Wars by Jason Aaron. Comic run is great but the binding and slipjacket quality is terrible!
Stay fresh!
dude i'd love that great idea
I wish I could be a proper nerd or geek. smh.
Until we get a Neal Adams Batman omnibus without horrible computer recoloring, that takes the title for me.
I got halfway through She-Hulk by Peter David couldn’t for the life of me finish the Loki Omnibus because of how wordy it was lol
I'm not sure I understand the "Not my era" bit you brought up with Conan and Shang-Chi. That doesn't make sense to me. I mean, if I based my enjoyment on something from my era, I would miss out on a million amazing movies, books, and comics. :-)
Out of the omnibuses I own, my least favorites are the Spider-Man by Erik Larsen and Guardians of the Galaxy Solo Adventures books.
I’d say the Classic Xmen should be on the list. And I’m an xmen fan...Very few who have it have actually read it I think...
Ryan Wilson countdown #50 with the joker. Yeh it’s not necessary. The writers just forget about it and no one cares. You can still read it tho
Yooo! Love the channel! Broooo you gotta give Master of Kung Fu omnis another chance! Doug Moench is an amazing writer, and those Galacy panels are action packed! Just try em again!
No!!! Not Conan!!! Ah... man... WISH I had even one of those (I love John Buscema art, even if it's B&W). But I understand. :)
Do a top ten omnis that you didn't expect to be as good once you read them.
Conan is one of my favorites. Wish I could afford to buy them off you
Man, I love Superior Foes of Spider-Man!
I love Conan but I've gotten from almost hating that kind of stuff, to now being obsessed about it. Maybe it could happen to you in time?
Otherwise - sell them all to me! :D
I know I'm late to this video but thanks - has saved me a few bob.Was considering Elektra, Tangled Web and Flash. I will save that cash for another day. I've heard there are one or two new omnis coming out late this year I think. But whoa whoa whoa, just as i was typing have seen Shang Chi getting grief right at the end - I'm a huge fan so may have to go back and re-evaluate everything I've just said!!!! Loved the video
10 worst omnibus in 10 mns. 😊
