    Great update video! I agree on the ar5 driveshaft options, I settled on a 2002 4x4 sequoia driveshaft that I will have to modify on the telescoping side but I can't wait to get the ar5 in my is300.

    • @RacecarAndChill

      That's an interesting idea! A custom driveshaft will cost $600-900. Not sure how much your sequoia shaft will end up costing.

      @@RacecarAndChill I'm thinking less than 600, the diff side bolts right up and the telescoping side slides to the dm ar5 4 bolt adapter, just need to take the driveshaft to a shop to have the transmission side modified to bolt to the the 4 bolt adapter

    When I did the ls400 brakes it was the best upgrade. On Instagram there is a guy called overkillengineering and he makes brackets to put 17z Brembos in the front. I run 17z on my Jetta and I can stop literally on a dime. Couldn’t imagine them on my is.

    • @RacecarAndChill
      @RacecarAndChill  4 года назад

      What scares me is that it keeps the rear brakes stock.. when the front stops faster than the rear, the rear end will want to come around. That can make for a sketchy slow down from 100+ mph

    • @bradflynn5586
      @bradflynn5586 4 года назад

      RacecarAndChill lol funny you say that. I had stock rears on my Jetta. 225mm rotor and single piston when I first did the fronts and honestly it just stands up more in the rear. The is has 2 piston I don’t remember the rotor size rears and with the ls fronts it’s magical. the distribution is more equal on the is. The Jetta I thing was 62/38 or something like that.

    Good content, as usual man. You need to get a Canbus gauge like the PerfectTuning or BTi. You can get a single gauge pod cluster bezel from Ortiz Custom Pods and have everything right in the stock location. Yeah I sound like a commercial but I love this setup on mine. You can display a lot of info on one screen: tach, map, oil psi, tps, etc. No need for multiple analog gauges anymore.

    • @RacecarAndChill
      @RacecarAndChill  4 года назад +1

      Thank you! I have a the pop up storage cubby for the center console I want to put a BTI display in! Just havent gotten around to it. I also want to wire in some more sensors like oil pressure and temp, ect. Hopefully itll happen soon!

    • @krisedwards8602
      @krisedwards8602 4 года назад +1

      Yep that’ll be a good spot for it. The big BTi lets you alter traction control and boost settings, something the Perfect Tuning won’t ( I have the PT). You’ve got the Infinity so you may as well make use of it...plus you can set failsafes for every sensor which is added protection for your engine = less anxiety. I bored and tapped the top vvti union bolt for oil temp, Tee’d off the stock oil psi sensor for the AEM sensor, got flex fuel, plus fuel psi, IAT, MAP, and ECT.

    I wanna turbo but I have a few questions? Can I use a intercooler with the inlet and outlet on the same side? It’s hard to run the cold side across the intake manifold and I don’t want to run across the bottom like probably did. I know it’s frowned upon to run that type of intercooler. Also what stand alone will work? I seen AEM V2, gready engine management, and I do have Apexi AFC controller (I don’t even know how to use this came installed on car)

    • @RacecarAndChill
      @RacecarAndChill  4 года назад

      You can run any type of intercooler you can fit. And any modern standalone can run these engines. The tricky part is getting the automatic transmission working with a standalone. For that reason, many people keep the stock ecu and let that run the transmission and the standalone runs the engine.

    Hey racecarandchill just want to ask you a question have you heard anybody having problems with the IS300 with three Windows not working I started thinking to fuse but I haven't had the chance to look at it right or like a relay or something my driver side window works but my passenger and my two rear windows don't work and I've been looking on RUclips or trying to find forms and stuff and I couldn't find anything and I thought about you maybe since you haven't. A knowledge about is 300 so I thought I would ask you maybe you now?

    • @RacecarAndChill

      No, 01's definitely had the lsd option! They never had the manual option until 2002.

    • @Bellgrande
      @Bellgrande 4 года назад +2

      RacecarAndChill oh wow cool never knew that, is there any big or better differences between the 01 and above years except the manual option. I would love a manual but between the high miles, high premium price on manuals, the crazy number of Atlanta traffic and cost to maybe rebuild them, I don’t think my job at target would pay enough for that lol.

    • @RacecarAndChill
      @RacecarAndChill  4 года назад +1

      @@Bellgrande there are a bunch of small differences for the 01's. The biggest two are that they came with a dash that did not have the sticky coating on it. And the other huge difference is that they use a different wiring harness and ecu.
