Would love to see you react to Euclid right after this one. The Night Does Not Belong To God is the first bookend of their three albums, and Euclid ends it. These songs are counterparts to each other and would be amazing to see you listen back to back and hear your thoughts! ruclips.net/video/DDdByJYUVeA/видео.htmlsi=3YlBOWLHewtiHtnR
The album title is Sundowning. It is a symptom of Alshiemers disease. What happens is the victims forget about their past and enter a very agitated and confused state. When he says the night comes down like heaven it is an ironic twist on this because for him, forgetting the past and present comes down like paradise. He gets to leave everything behind. There is also a lore angle with their "god" called Sleep. So he gets to go to his god at night. Now this theory is super speculative but in the song Take Me Back To Eden he talks about his godmother and it seems as though she passed away. The Night Does Not Belong to God may be a song about their relationship. Highly speculative but interesting. Enjoy the journey!
I think he could be saying 'God Mother' as in a higher power, and not 'Godmother' the relation in TMBTE. Sleep could be female, or there could be another deity or female being (like an Eve figure since Vessel uses the apple & snake imagery a lot) in the lore entirely. The old 2017 interview and the 'and now he rests.' message after tours seems to imply Sleep is male, and yet Vessel has only ever explicitly references women in his songs. I'm also not sure he would say 'we tangle endlessly like lovers entwined' if this was about a relation lol. I think the sundowning/dementia theme is just metaphorical. It's used in some other songs (Don't want to spoil it but let's just say it's another word for 'Ascensionism') where it's used in a similar context.
This is the way! When you finish Take Me Back To Eden and listen to Euclid it just hits different after listing to the first two albums. But the callbacks in Euclid reach far beyond three albums!
Sleep Token is a beautiful mix of Gospel influences, with bits and pieces of every single popular genre you can think of, all too serve the song and to give it specific vibes and story through the genre shifting. Its, for now, three beautifully mastercrafted albums from start to finish.
"Music is subjective" is definitely the best way you can possibly describe Sleep Token. Because their whole lore and meanings to songs are all open for interpretation. At least for the lore, the only thing that I believe that was confirmed, was that a deity, this goddess that goes by "Sleep" appeared to the band's leader "Vessel" in a dream. Vessel became very enamored with Sleep, and seemingly formed some kind of pact or agreement with her, leading him to shed his former personality and become an embodiment for Sleep. And this band was formed so he could talk about her. And his experiences with having a love for this intangible being, this goddess of dreams. Which is sometimes leads to him talking about his infatuation. Sometimes this relationship is toxic for his health, and he feels she is mocking him. Sometimes it makes him feel wrathful and angry. There's many directions that each song pulls you into.
Whoa! Didn’t expect you to go back, but MAN, welcome to the rabbit hole. This band found me at an extremely dark point in my life and Sundowning ripped me apart in the most transformative and cathartic ways possible. Euclid is now a song you can appreciate a little more after this reaction, should you find yourself skipping to the end of the trilogy. BUT, the longer you wait, the better that final song will be. Trust. Worship.
OH!! Yay! You really do need the EP's,. Either way I love seeing people do this for the 1st time and everything starts to click ❤❤❤ Worship!! The Albums name is Sundowning. Look up what that means and apply that to the theme of the album.
This song has a special place in my heart. First song I ever heard by them back when this album released. My personal favorite by them of all time. I really have enjoyed all your reactions to their music! keep up the great work. Enjoy the journey of diving into these special albums. Your perspective on the song is cool to hear as well. The 3 sleep token albums are like trilogies and this being the very first entry. Worship!
10:35 i really love your perspective here bro, i've been trying to look up different reactions to this song lately and alot of people have different opinions on what this song means, but i really think you nailed it with that. I dont see it as demonic either, its something more positive than we know. (christian here not that it matters) I really felt like this was a worship song too. I was praising God throughout the first time I heard it haha cant help it. This song EFFECTS me to a feeling i didnt know i could experience...
What’s interesting to me is I fell in love with the latest record first. But now I find myself going back to the first two records to listen to more often. I really can’t decide which is my favorite. But they are all for different vibes
Im sooooo excited you're doing this from the beginning. 😁👏 You can hear just about every genre of music (except country)in their music depending on the song😂. Vessel wrote all music, lyrics and played all instruments except for the drums on these albums and he also helped with engineering and production. His voice is ethereal and it's almost as if someone told him he could only do a certain style and he set out to prove people wrong. He puts all these genres together and has sometimes what i call ambient metal lmao 😂. Hey, it works. The next song is banging. Just remember, these songs tell a story of tragedy and heartbreak. He puts so much passion into his music and lyrics, it's hard not to like it. And the more you listen the more you like it 😂. The next song is a banger. Can't wait for that one. Happy New Year. Stay safe. ❤ Worship ❤
Your interpretations of the lyrics and the music are on level. Please carry on with each song on each album. When you get to the last song on Take Me Back To Eden, you will feel the true Nature of the Gift Sleep Token has given us.
really like your unboxing of lyrics ,feel, and arrangement.different perspective than all other reactions.not sure you will make it through the entire journey of this trilogy but you should finish with euclid.could be one of best lyrical songs ever made and a fitting end. if you ever get a chance see this band live.the stage show, lighting. and incredible sound add a depth that someone like you would really appreciate
Now that you’ve heard this one, which is the first song on the first album, PLEASE do Euclid, which is the last song on their last album. It’s an absolutely beautiful song that perfectly wraps up the album (and trilogy) Bonus points if you do the EPs too! Great work, very much enjoying these🙏
If you’re starting at the beginning and going through the story, buckle up, strap in and get ready for a ride. Read up on the lore too. It’ll give a lot of the songs an interesting twist and make you think about some of the lyrics.
Night comes down like heaven, is like the blacklit paradise. All 3 albums tell of the same story. And some of the other songs as well as his other work before sleep token If you go in order start to finish, you’ll understand better, but you’re doing a good job and I’m enjoying your takes Like what you said about the eyes
I am so excited for you to be going through the albums! The story and journey over the three make the Take Me Back to Eden lyrics that much sweeter with all the call backs you will find. It leaves Euclid(the last song on TMBTE) a gut wrenching full circle moment. Enjoy!
If you want to really understand the whole thing start at the very beginning which is the EP One then the EP Two then the single Jaws then start the rest of sundowning. Then it will make way more sense then it does now.
I’m sad to see youve stopped your sleep token reactions. Would love to see you react to Euclid now that you went back to the first album so you can finish the trilogy
My impression is that this first album shows Vessel when he's still naive or even innocent when it comes to Sleep. By the time you get to Take Me Back to Eden, he's becoming aware of, and bitter toward, the toxicity from Sleep, but he's in too deep to turn away at this point.

@Jellycubist yes this! 🖤
Even as far back as Calcutta he talks of sleeping and waking saying her name and time lived again for a moment in his dreams

Love your reactions. These guys are so for real. It's a wormhole that's hard to get out of. Great music

Same… I sing it to my 1yo baby as a lullaby and he loves it
I love this song. I saw them live only knowing 2 of their songs and they opened with this and i knew the show would be amazing

Awesome man. Ready for the journey!
I love your interpretation of "the white of your eyes turn black kn the low kigh" meaning they're letting in the light. Never seen it this way!
The Night Belongs to You.
Oh, my! I was not expecting you to go back to this song! I am so, so excited
If you’re starting at the beginning and going through the story, buckle up, strap in and get ready for a ride. Read up on the lore too. It’ll give a lot of the songs an interesting twist and make you think about some of the lyrics.
Favourite sleep token song. So emotional.
now you HAVE to listen to "Euclid" by them
Night comes down like heaven, is like the blacklit paradise.
All 3 albums tell of the same story. And some of the other songs as well as his other work before sleep token

The offering is next and it’s a fan favorite seems they close shows with it a lot
Well now you have to listen to Euclid from the end of their newest album, especially since you are such a lyrics guy!
Each song of each album ,Let's geeeet iiiiit
My favorite song by the band
If you want to really understand the whole thing start at the very beginning which is the EP One then the EP Two then the single Jaws then start the rest of sundowning. Then it will make way more sense then it does now.
Congratulations sir
Let's go, this is the only way to do Sleep Token. I would suggest Go back to the beginning of everything (EP One & Two) as well
Keep going!!!
People say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. So pure black eyes could mean feeling souless or haveing no soul.
I’m sad to see youve stopped your sleep token reactions. Would love to see you react to Euclid now that you went back to the first album so you can finish the trilogy
For me: "the night" is forgetting, to put it WAY too simply. "You won't be mine. So, forgetting feels like heaven."
My impression is that this first album shows Vessel when he's still naive or even innocent when it comes to Sleep. By the time you get to Take Me Back to Eden, he's becoming aware of, and bitter toward, the toxicity from Sleep, but he's in too deep to turn away at this point.
He builds songs. No need one builds songs likes ST he’s building a story I feel like this is like an intro song on purpose
There’s just really nothing quite like it, is there?
Check out Monster in Me by From Ashes to New. The lyrics are insane.
