I think I keep watching a lot of videos comparing these two cameras to try to convince myself to buy the 6700, but the video limitations worry me. Now it's much clearer, great video, bro!
I did some research on the a6700 and fx30 and stumbled upon ur channel and i gotta say that I really like ur content. Right now I cant really decide between those two. I feel a lot more drawn towards videography but i kinda want to keep the option to make great photos. the fx30 is a crazy camera that i fell like i can grow with but its also a little bit more pricey in comparison to the a6700. If I pick the a6700 im afraid it might fall short later down the line in terms riging, dual card slots, hdmi and so on. Im really at a crossroad here and I am interested in your perspective regarding this issue that I have. Im aware that only I can make that decision by myself but what would u recommend my as an aspiring creative?
Thanks for this video. The more I see the a6700, the more I think it would make a great second camera to my FX30. Now, I just have to decide is it worth the left, or right kidney. Hmmm.
I received mine last week. It is a great camera and the image quality is amazing. It does over heat in long form content with 4k30 and above. But using 424 it last all day for me. I pre-ordered the Ulanzi fan that should be here the first of the month, and hopefully it will help me record in 430 for longer videos once again. This is a user coming from the ZV-E10 which never overheated on me.
@@armorabskrabs1 I have. I do get longer in 4k30 but it still overheats when I 4 k30 in about 40 5o 50 minutes. .the Ulanzi fan works great and if plugged in I get hours of 4k30 recording.
If youre a normal dude, the a6700 is more up folks alley as it would be more versatile. If youre a video professional, i think id still go with the a6700 because it would be more versitle. Id get the fx30 only if video is the only thing you have going on for it.
Is it me or the video quality breaks down to around 240-144p quality and certain parts of the video? It's set manually to 4K quality so doubt it has anything to do with that.
I have a client that wants to start a podcast but doesn't want to spend a ton of money on the gear for it. I'm thinking about suggesting the A6700 for the cameras since we will need 3 and they need to look good. I really think it's a strong option since the footage won't need to be heavily graded or processed.
I’d expect the a6700s to overheat in a podcast setting, and data integrity is dicey with a single card slot and long takes. Used FX30s might be a better option, they float about only $100 more than a new a6700.
I also recommend the ZV-E10 for podcast with the Camlink 4k capture card. ZV-E10 has never over heated on me. That's simply based on the price. I will also say that streaming in 1080P on the A6700 has not overheated as well., but absolutely has in 4k
I added a 👍. However to use either camera for video I believe they need a pz lens with extended range. From the reviews that I have read about Sony E mount pz lenses, there are not that many, they are old, they tend to be heavy, they can't zoom that fast, and they are expensive. There are used models at a lower price, but you don't know their quality. Manual zoom is fine for photos, but power zoom is what needed to video.
Kofi, great video. Very informative and perfectly communicated. Keep up the good work. Btw, did you record your talking head shots on the a6700? Especially the talking head that you went outside? Thank you Kofi.
A6700 has in many ways brought back the fun I used to have when taking photos and videos. Due to its small size it is super easy to get the shot you are looking for. However I find that I do not want to put the a6700 through rough environments, it is a more delicate camera compared to fx30. I would grab the fx30 if I needed to shoot in rough or unpredictable environments. Other than that - a6700 is super nice
Is 6700 capable for a cinematographer who shoots in 4k 60 not continues shots but 15-30 seconds shots in 2-3 minute break cycle what say ? I am a cinematographer from india, and weather like here is really so hott for this body, generally I use camera on rent but now I want my own camera, fx30 is video only camera but I want a camera which can give me 100% value of my money! Not something which gets overheating all the time and have all the features, which camera you will suggest me? Also this video is so helpful man ! ❤
If you guys were gonna get into Sony for strictly RUclips content...what would you start with? Selling my Canon photo gear to focus on video and already have a bmpcc6k rigged for bigger work. It will be specifically for RUclips and live in a studio with a couple lenses. If I like it I may sell my cinema rig and jump in to something bigger later. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for a really really really good info video! 1. The A6700 is NOT a beginner's camera :). This camera, in the hands of a pro, can do anything. 2. I'm baffled by the obsession with 4k/6k/10 bit, etc. You do NOT need these levels! Great movies can be made out of 1080p :). Why am I making this point? Simple!-talk to any videographer and they will tell you that shooting even a 15 min humble video at 4k is going to require almost 500,000 gigabytes of data, considering what you are editing out, etc. For all the talk about the need for 4k how many out there really want to mess with such issues of STORAGE. I would love for MUCH more attention to be paid to the process and best ways to create safe storage for folks who are venturing into video. It is a HUGE issue that is rarely talked about. 3. Of course, if you reduce your video on the A6700 to 1080p you will be generally safe from overheating.
With HEVC you have the same datarates with 4K 10-bit as you did with 4K 8-bit in older cameras. The 1080p quality on these Sonys isn't very good so I wouldn't really recommend them for that. If you don't want the newer features and want to avoid overheating the a6600 in 4K mode does a great job (I use it with Cine 2 for extended dynamic range).
Hi! Thanks for the video man. I recently saw your video about the Lumix GH7 and I may ask you a question on which camera, in your honest opinion, gives you a better over all image quality? GH7 or the Sony a6700 ? In image quality I mean. Better dynamic range, low light performance, detail rendering etc.. I don't shoot RAW I just want the best out of 10bit 422 option like 24p and 60p that's all I need. Would very appreciate your honest opinion because I preordered the GH7 and I might cancel the order for a Sony A6700 or FX30 instead. Thank you in advance for your answer. Oh and I forgot to mention the Autofocus is also very very important for me. 😊
I don’t know the answer without them beside each other , at the threshold we’re at now, we’re splitting hairs , I’d worry more about camera workflow and ergonomics and menus rather than image, it’s all great mow
Can you output UHD 10bit 422 from the A6700 through the Micro HDMI? Not seen a reviewer cover this. This is super key for me as I want it as a gimbal camera for low budget narrative stuff and XAVC-SI kinda sucks compared to ProRes 422/422HQ on a Ninja.

Neither, there has to be some context when spending $1400 or $2500, and I don’t think it’s wise to remove those just to make a decision
Let me just add, that full size HDMI connectors also suck and in most cases the connector will also disintegrate sooner or later
Ok
