General audience needs to understand...what makes gundam great is not about the dueling action of giant robots... Its about the humans character's drama, stories and politics.the heroes goals and dreams and the Villain's plans and purpose. There is no good guy vs bad guys. 2 different factions collides to achieve their goals. If he dumbs down gundam. The purist eill hate it. If he makes it more on the human stories will have mix reactions... Its has to be just right. Gundam stories cant be told in a 2hours movie at least have do 3 movies .. The first is world buildings & characters... The 2nd movie politic.. strategy, fights . 3rd movie...closure final battle. Also to me gundam must not have a happy ending... Must be bittersweet.

I think Jordan is right person for the job. He has knowledge of and respect for the origin of Gundam, and I feel he will do his best to portray the Gundam franchise accurately in live action. Looking forward to viewing his work.
I suppose if the guy is a fan of Gundam and had a bit of history with it, the movie would be in good hands. Then again, Paul W.S. Anderson apparently said he was a fan of Monster Hunter and hardly anyone in the MH community spoke praises of the movie even after it came out. Best case scenario, the lowest this movie could go would be in the “some people may genuinely like it and but everyone else is gonna roast it” range.
I think Jordan will do this movie right. Looking at some of his tweets he def has knowledge of and passion for the franchise. Live action anime adaptions have a rough history to them for sure, but I am cautiously optimistic that this will turn out well.
Why R rated? What would that do that can't be done with a more accessible rating? If you just want _IBO_ 's blood and grit, you could probably get away with that with 14A or MA.
Nah id rather have have it set during OYW from the eyes of a Earth federation pilot like 08th ms team. It would allow people to understand what Gundam UC is all about. Not many people in the US understand gundam and pass it off as transformers so this movie is very important.
Actually imho they don't, because as beautiful as Gundam Hathaway looked, it really felt more like a 90 minute prologue with too much filler in it, and unfortunately a main character whose continuing trait since his previous appearances is being unsympathetic. Kong: Skull Island was a good film, and I'd rather they try to bring that quality into Gundam.
@@cooliotopnotch6287 Trash film eh? You are in the super minority then. Kong was good enough to get people interested in the character, and that is all that counts for sales. Hathaway was a nice looking film but boring and slow paced. A series would have better suited it.

I don't understand how a franchise like this failed so hard in the West....Its stories are well written and its serious tones are phenomenal.

Most Western fans only know, and like Gundam wing, and some really don't like the original Mobile Suit Gundam because of how whiny Amuro the equivalent of Luke Skywalker is.

Please show more screen times of ordinary soldiers fighting for survival. War in the pocket, no better material for a feature length film, captures the gundam lore and core with utmost perfection all while showing but a fraction and hinting everything there is from the one year war to Char’s counterattack.
