      Thank you so much for your incredible work. 2 years ago I bought the Goodyear Vector tires. Now, 30.000 km later they're still ok.
      The performance is very good and you always can feel when the tire is about to lose grip. I just wanted to know whether there was a new better tire in the meantime. Living in south Germany with some snow I'll take them again.
      Thank you so much again. I simply don't have the time to search a good model. Your test has both, a large number of tires and multiple conditions on the same car. Your scoring is transparent and blind tested.

    Very informative, and interesting. A couple of things I kept in mind during your results and recommendations:
    1) Grip versus rolling resistance, there's no way to have the best of both because they oppose each other. Like so many tyre characteristics, it's a trade-off.
    2) When you mentioned that for some areas snow may be the exception, I think it is also important to consider what other conditions may be rare too. For example for me, after snow, warm and dry conditions are the next rarest, so while I don't need a snow biased tyre, I also don't need a summer biased tyre either. With an average of 200 days of rainfall per year (55%) and 100 days (27%) of overcast or cold weather (so while it's not actually raining, the road surface doesn't really dry out either), warm, dry, summery conditions are almost as rare as snow.
    I found the adjustable score weighting feature on your website to be brilliant for accounting for this, and as testament to your "mild" weighted test in this video, the top three tyres you recommended were exactly the same as the top three given in the results on the website, after being adjusted for wet biased conditions.
    Top stuff, keep them coming.

      Summer tyres perform better in the wet than all weather tyres unless it's below 7 degree average. For the UK that 7 degree average only lasts about 4 months if the year. So summers make a lot of sense still in the UK for a lot of the year.

    The best review of tires I’ve ever watched on RUclips. Well done sir. I bought the CrossClimate 2 a few months ago because I saw the tread pattern on someone else’s vehicle and I was blown away honestly. I had never seen a tread pattern quite like it. I live in Canada and winter is real. The fact that the tires won your test in the balanced category and that the tires are better than half the winter tires you’ve tested, validates that I choose pretty solid tires for my 17’ Honda Civic EXT to be on the rims all year long. The OEM Firestone tires were horrible in all weather conditions, including dry pavement. I’ve noticed like you have tested, that the CrossClimate 2’s are the best all season tire/all weather tire that money can buy.

    Having gone on the whole journey from CrossClimate through CrossClimate Plus to CrossClimate 2 on three different cars over the last few years I'm still extremely happy with this family of tyres. Before that I always used to have separate sets full winter tyres and now I really don't need that. While heavy snow has been fairly infrequent I often have to tackle work trips as far as northern Scotland at short notice so I am happy being slightly over-provisioned for snow. My tyres are all that is between me staying in control of my car and losing it, regardless of speed and the surface conditions. I was a Honda Civic/Conti-man for decades but when I bought my Citroen C3 series2 (for wife's ease of access/egress) I discovered this car to be a trifle "skippy" when cornering on several road surfaces; possibly due to it's relatively light weight and suspension set up. By chance I came across one of your tyre tests three or more years ago and changed over to Goodyear Vector 4. Wow! what a difference they made to the handling and stability control of my C3. It now goes where I want it to and when I want it to. Surface water gets demolished: these tyres just bite into the tarmac, shedding all that aquaplaning hazardous material away from my chosen line of travel. These are epic, dependable and potentially life saving tyres and have a very low rolling resistance too. They are worth the extra money every day and every mile. My life depends on them as does my wifes too & any one else in my proximity. Remember, always anticipate: avoid reaction!

    As a driver that has a history of using winter and summer tyres on performance cars for many years, I actually went for the Michelin crossclimate 2 on my Golf for all season usage. I expected the summer performance on a Golf 1.4 tsi to be more then adequate. However I was completely surprised at how capable they were in the winter. Even in snow/slush and ice. I would say they gave me as much confidence in cold weather driving as my previous Nokian Full winter tyres. I am that impressed with the winter performance, I actually have these on my winter wheel set up for my X4M Comp. Obviously I will not be using them as "all season" on the X4M. But I am more than confident using these on the BMW for the winter. If anything the Nokians were a bit spongy in warmer winter climates, where as I do not get this feeling with the crossclimate 2s. I have been a big advocate for alternating winter and summer tyres for years to get the best of both worlds and not to sacrifice performance by using all season across the seasons. However, now I personally think the Michelin crossclimate 2 is perfect for the UK climate all year around on the "average" family car. However I will still be putting my Michelin PS4s on the X4M in the summer, for as good as the crossclimate 2 are in the winter, I wouldn't recommend them on any "performance" car for summer use. I live in SE Michigan. While it snows here, they plow very well. So, the roads are mostly very cold pavements except in the thawing weeks in March. But because I go to XC skiing north in weekends, snow performance is still important. For these reasons, I've been using performance winter tires like PA3 and LM001. They usually lasted about 20k mi for me. But one caveat is I go to mountain biking to south in Thanksgiving and Christmas logging approx. 4k mi on winter tires. I believe these trips shortened the life of the tires. And I think the CrossClimate2 would serve better for the usages like mine and am hoping it lasts longer. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Beside the need to break earlier in snow to match the winter tire breaking performance, everything else sense to do just as well as a dedicated winter tire! Nice! We were going down a hill and at the bottom the was a lot of deep water the SUV hit it and slowed down from the water but never did the CC2 tires come off the road at 55 mph .That alone with the ice and snow we met makes my choice even more reassuring.
    Did a millage check after fill-ups for the 1700 mile trip , loaded up to 75 mph at times ,lost 2 mpg ,not bad.car calls for 35 psi I ran them at 37psi.

      Following a purchase of these based on your excellent reviews, I’ve now had a wet summer and very recently a lot of uk snow. For the benefit of others, thought I’d add a comment on my experience. As it was the uk the snow was initially very wet and whilst like that I found they allowed more spin that a winter tyre but that’s to be expected. In heavy wet snow in lane 2 they quickly got overwhelmed and i had to retreat so whilst far better than summers, I then knew they weren’t a patch on my previous full winters….until the temp went below freezing. In -1 to -8 the snow crisped up and was hard packed or ice below. The tyres then became amazing and I regained confidence with them. So they are amazing but so far only if the temps are low and the snow isn’t wet/slushy. Hope that helps someone!

    Thanks again for doing this best 10 All Season/All Weather tires again this year. It is very impressive that the tire with the lowest tread depth (CrossClimate 2), hardest (V-rated) and lightest does the best in snow! I have driven the CrossClimate 2 for eighteen month, 28,000mile/45,000Km from 95F(35C) to 031F(-35C) on dry, wet, slush, icy, heavy freezing rain with 50mile/80Km gusting wind, 2/3ft of unplowed heavy snow/wet snow roads and a 10 hours straight of heavy downpour on highway and windy mountain pothole roads in Canada on a FWD HEV and they are wonderful when driven responsibly. It works so well that I don't even bother putting on the one season 4 months used Micheline X-Ice Xi3. I like them so much, once Micheline released the size for my 19 years young Toyota Sienna 8 seater I replaced the 5 years old (60% tread left) Conti TrueContact & 10 years old Micheline X-Ice Xi2 (consider over the expiry date) with theses tires when they became available. 5 years / 60,000mils (100,000Km) from now I will be looking forward to buy the CrossClimate 3 with all the money I have saved from not have to pay for tire swapping cost on both vehicles (always get free tire rotations when doing the break service😉).

Based on other 3rd party testing as far as I can tell Hankooks all season tires are known for average wear at best, whereas the Crossclimates are usually great in this area. This is not only important because the tires can last longer, but also because performance usually drops with wear, especially in snow and wet. Haven't had the opportunity to try them out in winter as yet, but looking forward to see how they handle in the cold & wet conditions that we often get in the UK, and hopefully some snow as well this coming winter, the Mitchelin's were good in the snow, but to date I love the Falkens so the jury is out regarding grip in snowy conditions, but the icing on the cake is that they are considerably cheaper to buy than the Michelin's !

      Agree, and something I'd like to see in all tire comparisons. Most of the debate within tire types is, to some degree, splitting hair a bit. I'd rather see what pro cons I'm getting in an all-weather vs. all-season vs. winter tire. If you're in a dry climate for example, it seems there's little benefit to a a winter tire even in cold temps. Though it's definitely true that all-weather tires vary the most in wet conditions (perhaps because some are basically winter tires, and others are just grippy all-seasons).

    Bought the GY vector AS g3. Jaguar S-type. This car needs UHP tyres otherwise it gets all numb. But these GY was great as they provide great feel through steering and seat. Grip is very good both front and rear and steering is quick and the big car turns in very quick as Jaguars do) and although they might lose out edge in extreme driving to Assymetric F1 they are sweet tyres. And fun. Just a quick first impression after 200 km driving.

    It'd be interesting to know the wet test temperature. In the UK really the big difference I have found is that all season tyres tend to perform better in a big way in the wet below 8 celsius. In the UK a lot of the year is wet and below 8 celsius :) The Uniroyal RainExpert 5 or RainSport 5 tyres seem to be a stand out summer wet tyre that can also handle low temps. Dunno if you can manage comparing all season tyres to the uniroyals in the wet but perhaps an idea for next years test?

    Great job with the test, but I really miss one test I find very important: wear/reliability factor. I mention that because I've bought Hankooks few years ago, and those tyres were among the best tyres I ever used... but only during first season. The tread was still great, they were looking fine, but they've lost like half of the grip. I was under the impression that copound got harder. So it is possible, that some manufacturers make products that are awesome in the tests brand new, but in reality they loose all theattributes pretty fast. And most of us will not use their tyres for one season only...

      The problem comparing new tyres with old tyres is that people forget what the tyres were like brand new and are more often than not comparing the qualities of worn tyres with the qualities of new tyres.

    • @matthewrichards4745
      @matthewrichards4745 2 года назад

      @bremCZ that is a good point you raise. But I do think there are inbuilt characteristics of tyres that aren't age dependent in that a 4season tyre vs a summer "sportier" tyre like in my case hankooks kinergy 4s vs gy asy3/5 will always be different in terms of comfort vs outright performance. For me having swapped between winters and summer tyres with my last car I felt the compromise in opting for all season vs swapping and storing the spare set of tyres twice a year was worth it. As I said in my review, imo the hankooks feel like summer tyres most of the year and for how I drive (with my kids and wife mostly) the extra autumn/winter/early spring cold and rain performance and the confidence they give me in all conditions made it right for me.

    • @bremCZ
      @bremCZ 2 года назад +1

      @@matthewrichards4745 While it seems like it would be right, it isn't. There are plenty of all season tyres that are greater in every aspect to many worn summer tyres. I switched my worn summer tyres out for complete winter in late spring when the temps were still well above freezing and they were still quieter, smoother, and had better wet and dry traction even though they were half worn winter themselves.
      Brand new, those summer tyres were been better in every aspect.

I’m a bit confused about the good aqua planing performance of the continental, I found it to be pretty horrific when my near side wheels went into deep water and it was such a big issue I changed tyres even though I really liked them. Yes. Under EXTREME conditions. Yes. Heavy snow, -20°C, ice plates all over the road and a blizzard. No way in hell am i gonna prefer all season tires over dedicated winter ones
      But the thing is: I don't face these situations 😅 central europe(Austria) and doesn't really face heavy winters like that(especially near cities)
      A winter tires is always gonna perform and risk lives under real conditions. Its worse in the wet, worse in the dry, worse in handling, worse in fuel mileage, worse in noise, worse in braking, worse in tyre wear. A winter tyre excels in WINTER conditions and nothing else. So if ya don't have any real winter, its not the best idea to run with winter tyres
      You could argue that they make less sense in summer. Yet they also perform surprisingly good. Again, if ya face 40°C weather, dry ass asphalt and drive like a maniac, a summer tyre makes way more sense. But if not...statistically you are gonna be fine. Prbly makes more diffrence that ya react faster/better to changing road conditions
