I've been using this system for years. I breed my foundation cock to 6 different hens each year for 2 rounds. As you stated it is alot of work, but with good record keeping and selective breeding my results are worth the effort.
Not getting the concept properly. So if I am not wrong, there are 2 cocks & 1 hen involved in a single clutch? Or the eggs get swapped to foster parents / the hen is left alone to raise the chicks after the mating process is done? It would be great if we get a second part about this topic from Arnold himself explaining the whole process to get a more clear idea. 😅
Very interesting - still bit unlcear to me how long need a breeder cock to stay with the hen to be sure that egs are fertilized ? Is one day enough ? Or less, or more ?
The first days the hen is only mated 'on sight' with a 'bachelor' cock. From about day 5 till the hen lays eggs she will be with the important cock for a short period each day.
I think because of language I am a bit confused. When you say "Bachelor Cock" that implies not being paired to any hen. This would mean your stud cock but I am guessing it means another cock? Also, what do you mean by paired on sight? Is the hen able to visually see a cock she is actually paired with or is there a cock on the other side of the breeding box she is kept in that she pairs with with out mating? I would love to understand the entire process as I have one cock I would love to use this technique with.
The hen is paired visually with the 'bachelor cock'. Because of this the proces of laying eggs will start. The only purpose of this whole system is that the hens lays eggs quicker when she is paired with the superbreeder. Normally it takes 8-14 days, in this way it can be after two days.
@@PigeonPixels after the eggs have been laid and fertilized by the stud cock, the hen and her mate are left together to raise the babies, the stud cock is taken after the hen lays.
they will breed within six months if allowed. if you love your pigeons, and want great vigor, separate the male & female offspring until the following spring, however.
