great video, FYI for other watchers, this viewfinder "hood" is ONLY possible on the SINAR F\C\P models, as an "umbrella holder" like on profoto and Broncolor strobes is UNDER the format frame!, this allows wide angle bellows, or standard pleated bellows, plus a hex rod, and plastic angle brackets to hold up these bellows to be connected to the viewing system, Also a "binocular finder" is also available (a focusable mirror in an angled box [45 Deg.] plus some "arc welding goggles" which provide a face fit to the magnifier, OR any attached bellows via an adaptor plate, via a special multi-purpose standard).
I will probably buy one of these when they come out, but wouldn’t it be great if Fuji brought back FP-100C or Polaroid 55 came back. There must be hundreds if not thousands of redundant Polaroid backs out there !
@@TheNakedPhotographer I’m hoping the spacer is only a necessary evil of using the prototype back, rather than the final product design. I know with my luck it would be missing as soon as it came out of the box.
I got straight in there as soon as I saw they were making them too! Really looking forward to receiving mine soon :-) Ta for the taster vid :-) Can't wait :-) It's really good to see you out and about too
thanks for showing this. I have ordered mine and expect it in Feb. Was worried by the sharpness being to soft, but seems not the case. In my opinion it's a proof tool and something to give to the 'talent' when doing portraits. Will use it for 8x10 because those negatives are just very expensive to be not be sure what the light is like.
Thanks for this. I too ordered as soon as it was announced. My mother always used to say "waiting is the best bit" - a sentiment that doesn't go well with my kids either. From what you say and your initial results, are you thinking negative thoughts? - expose for the shadow and develop for the highlights? This is a positive material so it has to go the other way round. Expose for the highlights and let the shadow be what it will be. Also dynamic range is going to be 4 or 5 stops (worse than Velvia) and so I have dug out my graduated neutral density filters in anticipation. Roll on August. Maybe it will arrive for autumn colour ;)
just one tip, today I tried this with an F2, but the older 505? holder (plain with a slight raised portion, metal clip style lock for the back, BLUE plastic darkslide handle), this just has the word POLAROID on it, but CAUTION, you can ONLY use this model holder in PORTRAIT, with the Grafflock bars!! (the protrusion touches the format frame in LANDSCAPE), AND only with the darkslide facing DOWN this is due to the 'swing' hinge touching so the frame can't be locked down!!; for Landscape images, you NEED to use the ground_Glass frame and insert the holder like a standard sheet holder, but anyways be sure the levers are flush down so there is NO light leakage, and full contact with the locks, for a secure attachment to the standards.
Now you need to get one of Mat’s Reveni Labs prototype spot meters in combine with the Lomograflok for the full package. I’ve tried to order out of Lomography Hong Kong yet they said sorry, can’t deliver to Vietnam. Surprised as I have things come in from the US, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, EU, UK…. Why Lomography? Silly. Thanks for sharing.
Still waiting and September will be a year. Did I get screwed? We'll see. Starting to wonder. They haven't sent me any updates to my order as to when I should receive it.
Thanks for this test and getting my attention on that product at all. I haven't heard of it before. When I order this now, does it mean, that Fuji will cancel the Instax Wide film in the near future? ;)
The film holder looks promising no doubt. The Instax film, not so much. This would be a waste of shooting efforts if the film itself is so subpar. Fuji is not good at this instant film science. Please someone bring back the Type 55 P/N. It's a pity, the top of the class companies had to go bankrupt and the second in class are the only ones around.
For real, I understand why Fuji doesn't make good Instax cameras, only plastic garbage. The exposure latitude is so narrow if you take a picture of someone with a black shirt on who is unusually pale, the shirt completely goes to black with all detail lost, and their face will be slightly blown out with detail lost. I wish this wasn't the case, the film is so cheap and easy to find, and instant film is fun.
@@fulltang1 I can meter quite accurately for low iso chrome from Fuji in contrasting light. But it would not be worth it for Instax for what the results were in the video. Anyway, thanks a bunch for the pep talk 👍
@@ghosttownsentinel5288 I was joking for the most part, but for me personally, I am very new to large format in general. I look at this back as a way to get some quick feedback on my workflow for $1 per shot, and I'm going to use an ND filter so that I can meter in the same way that I would for Portra 400. It's basically just for practice, and a side effect of maybe getting some cool shots. I will say that based on my own experience his Instax shots looks exceptionally bad, but I've only used it indoors. You can actually shoot instax using any regular 4x5 film holder and develop in a used Instax Wide camera if you want to test it out for yourself, without ordering the back. Check this out ruclips.net/video/LuDwwTMwr1I/видео.html
@@fulltang1 that sounds like a good way to get acquainted with new gear, at a reasonable price point. Alas, you could do the same with some of the most beautiful Polaroid films till about a decade ago. Type55 was my favorite in b&w. Anyway good luck with your endeavor.
For someone wishing to learn THE PROCESS, five minutes of jammed together image making, where you set up the camera to only show your butt was useless to learn anything...

Lovely idea to "stitch" these instant pictures together.
Thank you!

No kidding. I have two different kinds of instant film backs and no film to use in them
I’m just excited that we LF shooters have instant back no matter how clunky or half baked the product is.
I wouldn’t call this half baked. It works really well, the spacer is the only odd part
@@TheNakedPhotographer I’m hoping the spacer is only a necessary evil of using the prototype back, rather than the final product design. I know with my luck it would be missing as soon as it came out of the box.
I jumped in and ordered it the day it was released ... so WANT it to be released!!! I am a HUGE instant film fan!!!

I did this with a sheet of film and a holder. Processed through a fuji camera

I got mine last month and it's pretty hard to put down. Just put together a Toyo Field half plate camera and I can't wait to wear it out.
Super cool review! Have one on pre-order and can’t wait to start using it!

Love my sinar f2. Awesome shirt too
Thanks.
One of these on a cameradatyl og or a willtravel would be a great portable instant camera.

Seems it might be worthwhile getting a ground glass with spacer attached permanently so you are only really adding one step to the process?
You could

I think that’s how that works
PS. Lomography now says out to October’21. PSS Now November’21.
This Fuji film sucks so hard
Never understood why the stopped the fp-100c stuff

Look at it this way, if you can meter accurately and consistently for Instax, you can meter anything

The process? Push a button, film comes out
