These are not dogs they are children...a 12 year old should be playing not being trained to serve her husband ortaking care of het mothers and fathers responsibilities that is abuse it is called parentification.

    Found their personal facebook pages and let me update y'all...
    1. Around 3 years ago, the Mom decided to go back to the university to complete her master's degree.
    2. The oldest, Olivia, is now a full time college student, and is a ballerina and she also does music on the side.
    3. Most of the children are attending college.
    4. They wear pants now!!!!! Im serious, no more long ugly skirts. They also wear short shorts and none of the children are yet to marry.
    5. The family is still Christian, but they toned out the whole quiverfull.
    6. They actually had one child (a boy) after this was filmed.
    7. The parents are not that strict with their clothing choices anymore.
    8. Their children are not yet married and probably will not marry until they finish with their college education. Which is great if you ask me.
    10. Im so glad they let their kids have a normal christian life.

      @acw215079 8 лет назад +68

      That's because Quiverfull families use brutal punishments very minor infractions, making children into essentially robots. If these families go full on with the quiverfull way of life, they are required to shield their children from "evil" things like Rock music, clothing that shows a girls knees, and evil things like kissing in movies. I'd recommend checking out some other videos about the group, especially the interview by Chris Shelton called Growing Up Quiverfull: The Duggar's Destructive Cult. The guy interviewing (Chris Shelton) is a former Scientologist and actively tries to help people who get involved in these cult-like groups.

      Actually, in a stunning turn of events, it appears the family is much more "normal" now. Someone down below gave an update that apparently they had one more child after this and that was it. Whether it was a conscious decision is unknown, but it was probably due to the mother's age. The daughter, Olivia, is on Facebook and appears to be an average teenager. She's a ballet dancer and has done at least one beauty pageant(that I think she won). Her profile still proclaims she's a "follower of Jesus" but nothing to suggest she's anything more than just a typical Christian at this point. She dresses normally, including pants/leggings, and seems to have normal friends and goes to school. Hopefully this is a good sign that she has completely left behind the toxic Quiverful thinking.

I found out years after a guest visited our home that she had commented that our home was weird and inhospitable and she never wanted to go back. She also said exactly what you said: that every time she asked one of us kids a question, we would look at our father as if we were afraid of being in trouble for saying the "wrong" thing. Growing up we were yelled-at, cursed-at, and beaten for trivial things that were often innocent mistakes or the result of false accusations. On the rare occasion a kid actually did something wrong, it was impossible to respect any punishment for it because of the self-centered dynamic of it being ok for the father to wrong his children but not vice-versa.

God's word tells us we are to take care of each other and that includes all ages and all family members. How could anyone find fault in that is beyond me! WhatIsThis nope, not all families do that. My mom had 12 kids, and I was the second one. Neither I, nor my older sister were forced to look after our sibilings, and I really appreciate my parents for this. Of course, at times when mom and dad needed to go shopping together, or just go for a walk, the older ones were left in charge of the rest, but otherwise we were never permanently responsible for our younger sibilings. There was always one of the parents that would stay at home with us.

    • @sweetsunnydaygirl
      @sweetsunnydaygirl 8 лет назад +15

      Great question. EXACTLY. And what about those who love the Lord but simply weren't able to have children, or their husband left them. Good grief, it's SO ridiculous. Jesus made it very clear what our purpose is in the Gospels. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love your neighbor as you love yourself. In doing this, He said you have fulfilled all the commandments. He didn't say you have to get married and have 10 children. I have people in my family who could not have children, and they decided to adopt a child....which is wonderful and a blessing. But it was their choice. God was not mad at them because they couldn't "have children". So sickening, this shaming attitude. Our purpose is to love the Lord and others, and be loved. Period. If we are blessed by God with a mate, AWESOME...with kids, wonderful. If not, also FINE WITH GOD. God bless you.

I grew up bouncing from family to family and had the privilege of staying with a Quiverfull family two summers in a row and used to dream of being one of her children; when you grow up in a very broken home, with an angry feminist mom or in foster care- you appreciate women who actually dedicate their lives to being present and keeping their family strong & together. The mentality behind the "Quiverfull" movement is appalling, and often the way these kids are raised as well. If you have many children because you want to raise an "army of God", that's just cultish and frightening and makes me wonder how much you actually care for your kids as people.
    However, only having many children is in itself not a negative thing and doesn't have to have a negative impact on a family - parents or kids. My mother (born in '52) is one of seven, and of course they shared bedrooms, and of course the older kids babysat the younger ones etc. But that's not inherently terrible, and they were in no way brainwashed like these kids.
    That said, my grandparents were Catholics who didn't believe in birth control, and my very intelligent, open-minded grandmother found staying at home boring and unfulfilling, so . . . Religious reasons that go against your nature are never a good idea.

      Invar V But in Catholicism there is a logic behind not using hormonal birth control as to them the life begins at fertilization and as women we know MANY of our birth controls actually expel fertilized eggs again and again as they only prevent implantation by thickening the walls and mucus. Other BC at least stops the ovulation so fertilization never occurs or like the copper kills the sperm. But that's why I don't think Catholics can be compared to the quiverfull or even Mormons on that subject. Much different. Plus Mormons and these gothard followers are both following men who basically rewrote the bible in their own words.

If, however, you've reached a point where they are a burden on the resources of your community you should probably figure out how to use birth control. All very well, if you can have many children. I had this stupid mentalisty, kept trying for more children, put myself through hell, had 15 miscarriages felt like a failure as I only managed one child. Seen dozens of women have countless children, the kids go without they live in poverty, the women live in a total state of depression. Thank goodness I saw through it!

    The Bible also says to train children with the rod, which you can actually buy to beat . . . I'm sorry, train, your children with! Such a lovely life, no? Really, the Bible has many violent passages when it comes to women and children. It's a bit "funny" to me how so many choose what they can and can't take literally.

      Briana Walker I agree with you, adults who are fully embraced with religion is disturbing and dangerous. And having the so called "religious freedom" is an illusion excuse to conceal their beliefs to prevent any modern lifestyle. And also the compulsive act of reproducing children what is meant to be quiverfull. Why can't these family actually just think about the children who are in foster care or raised in orphanage.

      @@boslax2010 Well said, and thoughtfully.
      Mind you, I wonder if any decent orphanage would be willing to even consider allowing such people to adopt. They are religious fanatics building a future army of obedient slaves, that's what it amounts to. Real parents learn a lot more from parenthood, and don't plan and plot to enforce their quaint notions on others.
      My take on it is that they couldn't find enough willing followers in real life, so they feel they have to find women to breed for them. It's all too close to the Handmaid's Tale to be entirely sane.

    I personally know this couple and I've known several families who truly have an anointing and a heart to raise up godly children. For those couples who have difficulty or cannot conceive, there are, unfortunately, plenty of children whose parents were not up to the task and who put them in the foster or adoption system. I would think that infertile couples would be more grieved to see couples/parents with many children who were unfit parents--I know I am. Btw, child-rearing is very unselfish.

    @paisleyyama My sisters were expected to make me dinner, do my laundry and iron it too. How was that fair to them? They ended up having self-esteem issues, didn't go to college and ended up getting married just to escape their lives at home. I was encouraged to get a job as soon as I was old enough, but ironically, was never encouraged to go to college, not that my parents could have afforded it anyway due to having all those mouths to feed.

    I don't see this as so horrible. I'm surprised to see so many very negative comments. It is a righteous desire to have a family and the way they are raising them with responsibility and a love for God is so much better than a lot of families today that don't even teach anything at all or the families argue all the time. It is weird though how the amount of kids is such a main focus. There are so many other good teachings from God and Jesus Christ.

    • @romperstompist
      @romperstompist 10 лет назад

      No. Having talked to many of these people, here is their thought: They follow their religion that teaches them to reproduce uncontrollably no matter any consequence, including their own health and financial ability. They are doing God's work by reproducing so rampantly. A man's genes are much more important than any actual empathy or altruistic child raising.

    • @romperstompist
      @romperstompist 10 лет назад +3

      Annabelle Aldaco I think it is a great thing that you would rather adopt. In fact, when I am older and more financially able, I want to adopt as well. Why risk your own health and possibly the welfare of a being you force into existence when you can actually save a child in need of a family? I think adoption is one of the most ethical things a person can do. Then there is the impact of overpopulation, resource use, etc. There are many reasons that adoption is the more ethical choice. You asking is it bad you wanting to adopt? That is a big fat NO! You are an awesome person for wanting to adopt.
