I never bother to comment on any of the production tutorials I've watched, but I've just got to say... Devvon you're incredible. These videos are the most informative, quality, game-changing explanations I've ever watched. And not only are they full of great advice, but they show that you're a really humble dude who genuinely enjoys sharing what he's learned. Thank you for what you're doing and please don't stop!

You could see the stress in his face after saying that😂😂 Even had to pause. Fucked his head up for a sec. 😂🤣😂🤣
This is the best I’ve ever heard this explained and I’ve looked everywhere! Everyone always jumps to terminology that I’m still trying to learn. Thank you 💕

Did he apply parallel compression to the raw vocal or processed one ???
Please clarify that bro.
@@MrWhosYourDad on the "duplicated" vocals, a compression plugin was inserted. He created a duplicate of the original vocals by sending it to a different (new) channel.
you are a genius bro, bless!
Awesome video. Great song too!
I wish I found your channel earlier, would have saved me from alot of headache during the mixing and mastering process. Thankyou for your videos, very detailed and easy to understand!!!

Bless you for sharing this knowledge. You deserve more views and subs for sure. Can you do a video more in depth explaining the concept of gain staging, some of the issues when applying from the very beginning of a mix, and some examples? I've been trying to understand staging for a year now
Great video!
thanks so much devon bro that compression help had a rel hard time understanding it
Man I’m so happy I found your channel
Thats a game changer right there! Appreciate you for sharing
Hey
Did he apply parallel compression to the raw vocal or processed one ???
Please clarify that bro.
Very helpful mane thank you!
i really like your videos really helpfull! thx man
Hey Devvon. I learned this recently from Bobby Owsinki. He does the same thing but in addition he EQ's the parallel track by cutting below 600k and boosting around 8k to 12k. I did it on a female vocal and it blew me away. I listened to it in my car and it was like she was literally singing in my car. Amazing trick.
Bro you are so articulated and practical on your explanations!! Thanks so much. The one thing it’s not clear to me is if you buss after or before the effects of the main vocal track. I appreciate it if you can clarify this.
You're a god for this 🤘
Huge difference!!
Dope! I did this on my last track and wow, for me it wasn't about cutting through the mix, but it having body that I hadn't attained before. I heard "Panini" by Lil Nas X too and I'm like how does this vocal have so much body... Pretty sure he's got parallel comp going on too. Great work again Devvon, thanks
Damn!!! Sound so Clear
Bro on some real shit.... I have watched hours on hours of meterial on mixing and mastering for years now and real talk I learned more from 5 of your videos and my tracks got bigger and better over night I was already good but now I'm beasting I still do to my taste but something for me clicked after peeping a few of ur vids I would like to here u talk more about setting up tracks routing buss and everything involved in the master bus and what levels do u record at do u gain stage ur vocals to -16 db befor u start adding plugins
Bro same here. Dude is a beast and great teacher.
This is crazy, i have professional gear (interface, h.phones) but first i did not hear the difference because i was "in the song" and listened to the lyrics with emotions, this shows you, talent is still more important than good quality.
brilliant video, with regards to adding the parallel compression would you add it after automating the vocal or would you group the lv and the parallel track together for automating further.
Thanks a lot!
Thank you! for your amazing tutorials love them.... Can you please tell me if you send the vocals to Aux pre or post fader? Thanks again.
Thank u thank u thank U !
God bless you
thank you
you are so amazing sir
ThanK U man!
Awesome bro
Wow I actually learn from your tutorials 🙏😂
hey bro dope teaching
Dude you just changed my life
Excellent save with the pause!😂🤣😭
2:46 Ahahahahaha 💀 ! Thank you for this technique! I'm gonna use the day light of it!!
Thanks bro
Nice!!! #Godspeed
I see you using the CLA-76. The 2A is dope too!
Honestly, I Have been reading books and watching videos to teach myself how to mix for over 2 years now and your videos have really glued everything I know together. Very informative. Good job fam and Thank you. I have a few questions regarding my Mic pre (VT737) I hope you can help with this. Do you have an email I can use to reach you?
Loool, I'm glad you said pause
Maaaan "I hate u gottas" 😣😣😣 I just want to mix my vocals so I could hear it tomorrow but guess what...? I couldn't... Cause you are so addictive and I was literally force to watch every next video from you 😌😌😌... God bless man... Many thanks 👌👌👌
Amazing video man. Do you put any reverb on your parallel compressed tracks or leave it dry?
Is the full song released? Wanna listen to that properly. Very nice
Hey Devvon starting a new mix and running through these tutorials once again. Wanted to make sure that if I was copying the track for the p.comp blend that I'm supposed to copy all fx in the base vocal into the p.comp chain and then using the squashing comp at the end of the chain?
Allah razi olsun , isa aşkina videolara devam et .
Should the parallel compression vocal be louder then the main vocal ? Loving your vids bro keep up the work 🔥
great tutorial but one question... is the send is going without the effects on the main vocal or with the effects(compression,eq,reverb etc)
Eq and compression not REVERB AND DELAY
Yo, can you make a video explaining how to route for parallel compression and the high end vocals, if that uses the same method.
Do you use a pre fader send or post fader send?
You so real bro, "come in your face,,, pause",,,,LOL!!!!
I FUCKING LOVE YOU ! JUST LIKE THAT OFF OF TWO VIDEOS! Bravo my boy ... you teach so well...sooo so so soooooooo well ! #fan
This question also applies to your previous video on Parallel compression where you applied it to kick and snares. When you copy the vocal on to a new channel and compress it. Do you copy the vocal with all the previous plugins on the new channel?
Is this like with the other tip where you compress the vocal too a brick, and bring up the compressed high end vocal or should you do both?
Should yu parallel comrpress the whole vocal or just high ends?
bro should i parallel compress after the eq, mixing or this the first step before all dat??
could u do a reverb course bro like how to set up reverbs
Amazing video ! But how do you solo an aux track 4:49 ? Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
Is there any benefit to adjusting the fader on the Aux track vs. adjusting the fader on your send track? Usually when I do sends I blend them with the send fader.
bro u should start workin in studio one 4 you are dope
One question Devvon .. what if i dont have a CLA-76 which one should i use instead . Im talkin about Pro Tools default plugins . Thank you
Can you just do a second recording or do you need an exact copy of the vocal for this to be effective
I have a few questions for parallel compression:
All effect like reverb and delay/slap delay, you would use it on the track without compression? For EQ as well?
