Dude no one explains audio processing and techniques better than you. Trust me when I say this, you're helping a lot of us out and we're thankful for it. PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING
Excellent tutorial on how to understand low bass frequency ranges. One of things I don’t think people understand is how the human hears low frequencies at the delta level.
finally someone who put passion into explaining things. There are a lot of good producers on youtube and engineers. The thing is, to explain this you have to be more tech than an artist
Damn, making a send with a distorted, eq'd and widened 808 is simply gold. You are literally the best youtuber out of there when it comes to mixing hip hop/RnB and also explaining it! I honestly, mixed a song recently based on the techniques and tools provided in your videos, and it turned fucking amazing. Thank you for that, and keep going my man, this is something that you don't get even in paid courses.

This technique really made a positive difference in my bass! Thanx!! I don't speak English, but the good thing about the video is that you speak slowly, and then it's easier for automatic subtitles on youtube to be able to follow you and translate!
Yo I mess with this! As a person who's been producing for 9 years I just wanna say thank you for sharing the information and mixing methods that took a couple years to wrap my head around and learn to use. So Im gonna recommend your channel to people who are interested to learn production from a fresh start!
You are literally the person I've been looking for to help me with mixing. You explain things thoroughly and easily enough for me to understand as a beginner. You don't just turn knobs and expect your audience to just magically understand. Thank you so much for your content good sir.
Mark Thomas You don’t have to invert the phase in this case, it’s completely wrong, because if you invert the same signal , it causes phase cancellation and your sound is also not mono compatible anymore, so in the clubs, in radio or in your phone or every where , where you play your song mono, you will have no bass at all 👍 watch this video on your phone and as soon as he inverts the signal you can’t hear anything 🙂 18:57 Phase cancellation
Honestly, everyone who‘s watching this should owe you some. You’re the GOAT already, I‘ve been waiting for such a tutorial for a decade, no joke. Could you take us thru a whole recording process? Maybe in a live video? Keep rocking 🤟🏼
Brotha! 3 of my external hard drives died over the weekend and I lost all the music I've done in the last 5 years. That includes 3 years of work on a project I've been working on for 7 years. Even though I lost a lot, I haven't lost the knowledge I've gained from these tutorials. Thank you dearly. I know you're going through your own hard times - I hope this message finds you. Keep your head up, set backs happen before leaps forward 🙏😎
So much value it's almost overwhelming! When you created a copy of the 808 I was thinking "duh, why haven't I thought of this before?". That's a great tip, you're the MVP
Bro no disrespect to Pensado but you make him look useless, you are a beast on these tutorials, i feel like i already know a lot but am honestly humbled by how much you can teach me!! 👍👍👍
You deliver your info swiftly and clearly. I like your style. there's no drag along bullshit or time to become bored. You deliver the goods without trying to sound all extra smart and stuff. Even though you obviously are. I really appreciate you sharing your experience. You give up mad game. Thank you.
Yea maannnn you dropping jewels left and right. And ACTUAL jewels, not just that "limit X to hell, then Distort Y to hell, then make sure itsclipping, and itll be knocking!" shit a lot of prominent channels promote. You got a new subscriber homie. 🙏
You video on mixing vocals for lushness was the best video on technique on vocals I have ever used. The only one of equal value and use was the video by a Waves engineer. But I liked your's even better.
Brother you are a blessing for us who really want to learn this stuff. i love your technics. Please don’t stop, you are got a big blessing coming back in return.
What you did with the trim plugging (that can also be achieved with the utility or gain pluggins) is NIGHT&DAY FOR REAL, thanks for sharing this amazing technique to widen the 808 and make it huge. Peace to yall
This is an awesome presentation! If you haven't do so already, you may need to compile a paid video series where you show the complete process of recording, mixdown and mastering techniques that you employ for a finished, radio-ready, consumer-grade music product. I get a lot out of your videos but would like to see what occurred further up-stream with your actual vocal and midi recording processes- from scratch. Thanks so much for your continual commitment to providing critical and relevant content! 😀
the polarity switch on 808 for FL STUDIO users: sidechain your main instrument mixer channel to another free mixer channel for your sides information (if its that you are going for like in this video) with no signal going to it. means just like a send/parallel processing but if you play your main vocal or instrument, your send channel shouldnt show any level of volume coming from your main instrument mixer channel even though you didn’t pull the send volume nob down.. NEXT: Load “Fruity stereo shaper” on the sidechain channel. Go to presets choose “Mide - aSide Splitter” then go back play the main instrument and your send mixer channel should show some volume level coming from your main instrument mixer channel. turn each volume nobs up and down but I think you should hear the difference directly after applying those steps I mentioned. Sry for my english im german😅
Thanks for sharing Devvon, brand new fan! Super appreciate how you bring these complex techniques down to earth. You are an excellent communicator and your passion is contagious! Keep up the great work!
Devon I'm glad to have found your page. Great insight in how you explain everything and your personality shines through so it's not boring like most tutorial videos. Thanks for creating brother
if sidechaining means your kick doesnt interfer with 808 then why do you need to take out 60Hz, it wont be there. Is a genuine question. and thank so much for the tutorials like your just a great human being
Your videos are about to become the next big thing in music production. I watched smk go from 5k views to 300k overnight. I watched busy works beats first video 2 weeks after it came out. I’ve seen a lot of shit in music production tutorials and publishing that I called years ahead of when they blew up. This shit right here is about to go full blown Pompeii. I wouldn’t be surprised if by December all your vids have over 100k
Hey Devon, amazing tutorials - thx a lot for these! A thing which seems kinda tricky with your technique are phase issues tho - through inverting the phase it sounds super super stereo but as soon as you put it to mono the phases just completely cancel each other out! I find either chorus or specific stereo widening plugins work better in that case
@@AchillesxHeal they know that. They're talking about 'mixing in mono' in a way, in order to hear how your elements sound in a mix played through a system that maybe doesn't facilitate stereo playback
thank god these videos are getting little views people won't get the in-depth secrets and shit Devon bruh since the first time i listened to you i just knew i wanna mix and write that way you do and i swear to god u can say u inspired the mastermind inside o' me
CallMeCraig he use them well. Waves use to be the gold standard for many years. A lot of the older engineers still live and die by them. The producer Focus use a good amount of them as well. Especially the Renaissance series.
Man, you're fuckin awesome! Im an amateur beatmaker from Russia and my english is not very well. But your explanation is so good and so available that i can understand all of it. Thak you a lot!

SO TRUE!
Actually it’s a few folks that do it better but it’s very easy to listen to my bro. He’s on to something keep it up !
Shubham Singh big big big facts 💯
totally agree
Kristopher Leslie do you have links of these people ? Thankyou 🙏🏽
That polarity switch on the 808 is revolutionary!! Thank you for this!!
any plug in to recomend ?
@@barlev5 whatever ur DAW Has. Trim in Pro Tools. The Channel sampler or Mixer will do it in FL Studio
@@hibobbywoody i use Cubase , it is probably on the mixer somewhere
Did you manage to find it in Cubase? Next to the Gain I have found the invert switch but there is no option to select left or right
Waves should give this man an endorsement! I bought RBass along with 2 other plugins after watching this video! Thanks for the great tips!
Brother
You a blessing no lie
I've never learned this much anywhere else on this planet

The tip about the trim/gain to flip the polarity is a game changer. You just gave a million dollar tip. May you get it back times 1000.
