The GK missing the kick is still unforgivable and absolutely hilarious lol, but the reason he missed, I think, was that it just happened to be where the ball was once he turned his attention down field. From his perspective, especially since he was backing up, he had to have mistaken the penalty mark right there for the ball through his peripherals. Notice the whiff is right over the marker lol

When I was growing up, it was routine for girls softball to celebrate every little thing whereas the boys little league couldn't even chant from the dugout because it was a sign of poor sportsmanship.

In the Alabama softball game, it looks very much like the ump told the catcher, as he gives her the ball, that Hemphill did not touch the plate. This would be a violation.
The Ole Miss catcher needed to tag the plate, not the runner. She had already started back to the dugout, and she did not make an "immediate attempt" to return to home plate after missing it. The umpire was correct in putting the new ball in play after she crossed home plate, although he should not have indicated anything to the fielding team, if he did so.

I've seen hockey players just fine after getting a slapshot to the face. I see them collide with other players at 40 kph and they both get up like it was nothing. But one soccer player breaks a nail and he's on the ground flailing around, thrashing in pain. Hockey is to soccer what a spear is to a twig.

Well now I _think_ I know what happened... Dortmund player (had to look which Berlin team, apparently they have a few) trips over the ball, possibly because of one of the Berlin players grabbing his sleeve. Another Berliner grabs the ball and punts it (which I'm not sure you're supposed to do, but then again, I don't watch association football), and not only does he kick the same Dortmund guy from before, but apparently kicks so hard he hurts his leg. That is a strange sequence of events.
