I have driven both. The M340i and the M3 G80. Believe me or not but in my opinion the M340i is the better car. Save the extra money and buy instead the M340i with the B58. Much cheaper in the maintenance and fast as hell even with a normal tune.
Of course the M3 is an amazing car. It is sportier and more aggressive but in the overall package the M340i is the winner for me.

Plus the sound is also a factor. I think the B58 sounds much sweeter, I never liked the way the S58 sounds for some reason.
The B58 definitely needs an aftermarket exhaust to sound like it should though.

The new kidney look absolutely beautiful on the new M3 and M4. But I agree that with a normal 318i with a small engine and roundish bumper it wouldn’t look as nice as this grill
I'm absolutely in love with my M340i, running at around 500hp which is awesome. B58 is a beast, as well as the G20 platform

@@eliaspemmerl5152 I've got this info from a dealer In India that the actual dyno results of stock M340i are close to 420hp. May I know if it's the same case with you before tuning? if you've dynoed.
@@harshavardhan8022 420 seems a little bit high for my opinion. I think it moght be around 390-400 but not more
@@eliaspemmerl5152 360whp and if you take 15% loss then 420hp at the crank. ok cause under good conditions it can do 0-100kmph in flat 4s.

My dad has the new M240i and we test drove a G80, and we much prefer the M240i, it sounds much better and the gearbox actually feel alot more aggressive!
Damals sah ich den gleichen Wagen in weiß ohne M Bezeichnung und wusste nicht welches Modell das ist...der erste Eindruck war mega, sehr elegant!

This car definitely doesn't have only 374 hp. Maybe somewhere north of 400 ponies.
Wenn man alle Faktoren miteinbezieht und den Wagen noch als Touring nimmt dann hat man quasi das Auto, also alles was man brauch.

Great car automann , well for me this has to be the best , I would choose this over an M3 . I was wonder if you can do a video in vw amarok v6 190kw the 2020 model not the new one that is being built by Ford. That thing is a beast .

I've always been interested to see the RWD version of this car, and what times it pulls. 100-200 to be precise. Especially knowing that there's quite a bit of difference at that with G80s, between the RWD and xDrive models.
M340i is exclusively 4wd
@@rafaelcalha There's M340i-s with RWD only for sure. It's just that they're either USA only, or there's not many in EU. You probably can get one in EU as well, but here everybody goes for xDrive models which makes RWD-s extra rare probably.

@@snffz3492 US both RWD and xDrive but in most countries only in xDrive. Without TC, it's difficult without an experienced driver to pull off factory-quoted timings. Anyone can drive the xDrive.

To me this is even more desirable than the M3, ton of USABLE performance and a sublte look, that"s for the non car people look like a 320d Msport ! The M3 is really to much in your face nowadays
true... this engine has less than 3k rpm and its over 180kmph. It is a very relaxed ..elastic engine

I think he has one of the last models before mild hybrid was placed on the platform. He wrote that 24 months lease is ending. So he took the car around January/February 2021. It is possible that dealership had yet some "before mild hybrid" models at that moment.

Why would you need an ugly M3 when you can have this? The new M340i is all the car you'll need. Its faster and better than all the previous M3s or M4s

Try the Mild hybrid version sedan pre LCI or the new LCI. Very interested if the 100-200 is the same or even 0-100 due to eboost.

@@ErikM340If you look closely in the tachometer is a instant mpg gauge. At the bottom of that is a picture of a battery that is charging when he brakes or lets off the gas. Also a purple cable under the hood.
My m340i 2020 sounds more quiet, does this have the 2021 update that makes the sound less noisy?
Looks and performance (regardess that bmw is a liar about the stock performance 400-410 ) is truly great. Sound is crap.

@@vollcare4076 that would actually slow down its 100-200 time compared to a RWD car with the same power because of higher drivetrain losses.
In dry weather I mean, where RWD is sufficient.

There is still a lot of torque that goes to the rear. It isn't a 50/50 split. That's why he said it is still tail happy. If you provoke them, you can break the rears. That's why he said it is still a fun car, despite the 4wd.

I expected this car to do 0 to 100 in at least 4 seconds or less, and certainly less than 10 seconds for the 100 to 200, but I was proved wrong. It's barely faster than a Golf R.
Golf R is much lighter and has a crappy interior, and this is a full-sized sedan. 0.4s is a quite a bit quicker

@@emiliospowerballer1441 the difference in price is vast because it's in a larger class and better in every other possible way aside from laptimes. It's much larger, far better inside and still slightly faster.
Why are you comparing this to a Golf R anyway? The difference in weight is more than 200kg. Compare the Golf R to the M240i, even though there's a big weight difference it makes the Golf look useless especially since the starting price is only a few grand more.
@@xIcarus227 Because what I care is speed and cornering. This is the reason I'm comparing the 2 cars. I know which one has the better interior. I know which one is more luxirious.
But why would anyone buy a 375bhp car, if the only reason behind the purchase is power, otherwise why bother buying a relatively fast car in the first place? Dont tell me a 40 year old accountant who can afford this car buys it for luxury and comfort. Laptimes are quite clear regarding which car corners better.
