Cartman’s Anxiety Ruins Everything - South Park

- Cartman’s anxiety is ruining everybody else’s good time at the water park, and Kyle is sick of it.
About South Park:
It’s hard being a kid growing up in South Park, Colorado, what with all the insane adults, deranged celebrities and the occasional talking turd. But somehow, Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny manage to have themselves a time.

It’s really cute. It’s like their identity

I like how Kyle instantly regrets what he said. He knows Cartman is gonna twist his words and do something way out of proportion 😂
Should’ve just let him be on his phone dude
Yeah literally 💯 Kyle is the only one that calls Cartman out for his BS and then when it happens, Cartman has an even brighter idea in his mind.
He has anxiety but he'll go to water park with his shirt off....
Damn I remember having to go to a water park when I was a young kid and I had anxiety, I didnt even know what it was then but yeah I didnt enjoy wearing now t shirt
@Dominick Sansotta not really

With that bowl of jelly hanging out. You know, the reason he's generally ridiculed.
Cartman doesn't have anxiety. He's faking it to get his way without consequences.

I definitely got where Kyle was coming from in this episode. He is the voice of reason. All people have some form of anxiety, but they learn how to deal with it, not shut themselves off from the world. There are people who DO have actual anxiety issues, though. I don't recall it, but I think that was pointed out too. What Kyle was preaching about was about those, like Cartman, who has the normal kind of anxiety and when Cartman fakes stuff to get his way (Tourette's ep comes to mind) you see what happens. Cartman was just exploiting his "anxiety" so he could do what he wanted without consequence. This is why we never saw Kyle get on anyone else, from what I remember.
So im one of those people that shuts themselves off from the world but it is because everytime i try to hang out with someone new and they say "oh i cant" or "maybe next time" and of course they dont owe me anything but it makes me question why i even bother and i end up just staying home and playing video games or being on my phone. Can some one suggest me some advice?
fredy garcia therapy bro that’s what helped me
@@TomTucker726 But if you choose to shut yourself off, that's not much of an issue. I was diagnosed with anxiety myself and had to take meds for it...but try not to (mainly because I have no health insurance) and I try the other methods to keep myself calm. Like meditation and breathing exercises.
Some people just aren't good with people or are introverts. I'm one too. You could just do online chatting with those with common interests and hobbies. I'm sure you'll be able to find something.
I also would stick to a group activity, not something one-on-one. For instance, let's say you talk to people online and they're all planning to attend an event, which you also have an interest in. It could be a convention or something like that. You can go there to meet your online buddies at the convention while also enjoying the festivities of it even if by yourself.
Outside of that, I'd look into finding a therapist to discuss things with to see if you can get down to the root and cause of your anxiety issues if it's definitely the type that affects your day-to-day activities or make it difficult for you to function. Like, in the episode, that type of anxiety wasn't really touched upon, the other type of anxiety was....like getting nervous before a big test, nervous before a date, nervous about making a speech, stuff like that....not those who are anxious nearly all of the time and there's nothing causing it. It's like depression. Some feel this way because something bad happened. It's a normal emotional reaction. Feeling depressed all the time regardless of what's going on or taking place, isn't.
This! And i get that its a comedy, its supposed to be funny, I have actual AD and I even think its funny! But cartman was doing what he always does, using something just so he can do whatever he wants. Everyone has anxiety, not everyone has anxiety disorder. Anxiety is completely normal! But fearing death, anxiety itself, harm, ect on a daily basis is why they have therapy and medication. The part of your brain that does normal reasoning is lit up like NY on new years eve for people with anxiety disorders, its something completely uncontrollable! Very, very overactive. I had my own brain scan at 19 and once they found that, I was put on medication to balance the chemicals in my brain. On this medication I have normal, everyday anxiety, but thats okay! Thats all I wanted was to be normal and I now have that!! 1000x better then the hell I was living in. Therapy has helped a lot with social aspect, but thats just normal nervousness, not complete and utter fear anymore. I think way to many people use anxiety as a scapegoat when that specific anxiety is normal, and if someone has anxiety disorder, get help! Its the best thing you will ever do!
@Super Elizabeth I suggested therapy too, but only IF it's actually in a way that's crippling him and affecting his day-to-day functions.

People like Eric portrays are why people with actual anxiety disorders get wrote off as being dramatic babies
People who have functional brains realize the humor behind the episode. It doesn’t make fun of people who have an anxiety disorder, but those who use anxiety as a way to excuse their behavior. As Kyle said, everyone HAS anxiety, it is a normal function of human life.

Umm.. no, it’s not that much of a kids show, has a lot of swears and very murderous.
Theres a difference between anxiety and an anxiety disorder.
Anxiety is something everybody has. We all feel stressed or anxious when we have a test, bills, or anything else.
An anxiety disorder such as: PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, and more. (I think OCD is a part of the Anxiety category.) An anxiety disorder is where you have excess or unbarable anxiety or stress about nothing or little things. This makes it almost impossible for someone with this problem to live their life.
But I mean anxiety is a bit glorified on social media. There is a fine line between using a concept to help people and abusing it for attention. And I swear to God certain groups of people have 70% talking about their anxiety in a way that very unrealistically exaggerated.
Yes anxiety disorders are a thing. The problem is that everybody thinks they have one when in reality they're just experiencing normal stress and anxiousness that everybody feels in their situation. Thanks for missing the point of the video.
I have OCD, and it’s not exactly anxiety, but persistent intrusive thoughts that make me repeat words and actions multiple times until it “feels” right.
We see later what cartman caused wasn’t that bad but Kyle was still worried given he gave Eric an idea. He just assumes any idea Eric has can only lead to horrific destruction.

I'm sure there's some dumbass out there who will watch this clip and think people with legitimate anxiety disorders aren't valid. Same as thinking how people with depression are just experiencing normal sadness, people with anxiety don't experience normal levels of anxiety but extremely heightened levels of it to the point where it strongly influences and interacts with their daily lives in a negative way.
I like normally wouldn't care but in the past months I've run into too many anti-mental illness idiots so just in case.

@@TequilaMockingBird91 it’s not that Stan is afraid of confrontation, he’s just learned by now that no matter what Kyle or anyone else says to Cartman, it either won’t work or it’ll make things worse… sad, but he’s just accepted it
It's not the wisest thing though. Not confronting idiocy and allowing ignorant people to exist in their own space where their stupidity isn't being challenged by rationality is why people like Cartman exist in the first place.

I've been a huge South Park over it's entire run, and I agree with them most of the time. But I feel like they l missed the mark on this one.
Yeah, Cartman was using anxiety to be manipulative, as expected, but Kyle's point is flawed too imo. Everybody experiences anxiety, but there are different variations of it. And in a lot of cases, anxiety goes hand-in-hand with clinical depression. Bad cases and frequent panic attacks can be way more debilitating than people realize. It's very easy for someone who doesn't experience it that intensely to just say "get over it"
People who say ‘just get over it’ do not have empathy nor sympathy. I keep those kind of people far, far away from me. It seems many do not reach emotional maturity, and spread their toxicity around the others.
@@101darklady whats the only way to over come anxiety and being scared? going out of your comfort zone if you dont ever do something your uncomfortable with you will never change. kyle was really right, it might not be as easy to just get over anxiety then said but the only way to get over it is to essentially go out and do what ur scared of.
