I have a problem with houdini: - I have to think a lot and design visual script to get a model that can be modified. Is such a powerful editor only needed to create multiple copies of the same model? And if I just need to make a model - without modifications - it is a nightmare to make this model in houdini - because I can create a model in 3ds max in much less time. Question to professionals: - what can be the benefit of having a model that can be modified?

Hi, It's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed or find procedural modeling in Houdini challenging at first. Houdini's strength lies not only in generating multiple variations but also in creating models that are dynamic, adaptable, and easily editable throughout the production process.
While creating a single model might seem quicker in traditional software like 3ds Max, the real power of procedural modeling becomes evident when you consider the iterative nature of design. Here are some key benefits:
Flexibility and Iteration: With a procedural approach, modifications are incredibly easy. You're not starting from scratch when changes are needed. This is particularly beneficial in scenarios where design iterations, client feedback, or project requirements demand frequent adjustments.
Non-Destructive Workflow: Procedural modeling keeps the initial structure intact while allowing changes at any point in the pipeline without breaking the model's integrity. It's like having a recipe that you can tweak without ruining the dish.
Variation and Automation: Creating variations becomes more manageable. Houdini excels in generating different versions of a model effortlessly, which can be immensely useful for creating diverse assets efficiently.
Parametric Control: Parameters can be exposed, enabling quick adjustments without diving deep into the modeling process. This can be invaluable for creating customizable assets or meeting specific design specifications.
Complexity Management: Houdini excels in handling complex models or effects that might be challenging to achieve or manage in other software.
Ultimately, the benefits of having a model that can be easily modified lie in streamlining workflows, improving efficiency, and providing creative flexibility. While the initial learning curve might be steeper, mastering procedural modeling in Houdini can significantly enhance your capabilities as a 3D artist and ultimately save time and effort in the long run.

@@RaduCius Thank you for the detailed response - My conclusion is that there should be more high-level tools in houdini - like a tool that finds those edges that you can apply "bevel" to, etc.
