    Nice touch with the music cover on this one. I already enjoy your video's quality, laid back style and info provided, keep them coming m8.

      Thank you Nestoras, I try to find a song that matches the mood of the bike and this song really fit this bike's personality. Some times it seems that the song was made specifically for a bike and some times it seems that the bike was made specifically for the song and in this case both apply, they were made for each other.
      Take care, Scott

    So, you take a pre 2013 R1200GS, remove the long travel suspension, luggage capability, fuel guage, rev counter, comfortable seat, tyre pressure monitor, light weight alloy wheels, big fuel tank, indicator switches that free your left hand to operate the clutch simultaneosly, centre stand, hand guards, and a few more useful bits. The money that you save buys some functionless bling of dubious aesthetic value.
    Am I missing something?

      It's always about the feeling. I just feel nothing when I look at the R1200GS. The look of the Urban GS on the other hand is just amazing.

    Yeah really nice bike. So many nice ones to choose from in the RnineT lineup. I bought a /5 last month and really like it. I'm glad they kept the analog display as well.

    I had a ride test with it. The bike was very amusing and nice to ride. Nothing against.
    In the end, I chosen the Triumph T120.
    In terms of this kind of bikes, the T120 was right on the spot for me. But if I could have both, this would be in my garage too✌️✌️
    This was, as usually, a very good video to explain that this bike is not just a beautiful bike, but a bike that is also fun to ride. And in terms of reliability, it’s a BMW, they rarely do machines that are above high quality. So, I believe this is a true proposal for this segment. Thanks 🙏🏼

    Well done Scott. You nailed it also. Im increasingly bored about fancy user modes, huge displays and loads of Menue Buttons. It’s like to be at work in the office. Brrr.
    Funny Video. Thanks for Sharing.

    me again...haha great review. I actually have the R9T and have tricked it out, it sure does make me smile each time I ride it, just looking for something that could do small tour miles without the windblast. the old air-cooled engine in the 9T is just peachy, im told by bmw its the same unit that was in the HP2 just tuned slightly different and imho you dont need any more power in a naked bike, Handles like a treat, back to old school with no slipper clutch, no riding modes, no traction control, wheelie control etc, just a bike you want to ride that makes you smile...

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks again Karl. Yea, the boxer motor has been refined over the last 4 decades, don't need to say much more about that :) About as near to perfection that an OEM can get in a motor.
      All the R9Ts are simply good, smooth, refined. it's one of those bikes to where the powertrain, chassis, ergonomics and looks compliment each other, like a symphony.

    So for a whole lot extra you get some shiny bling but still the same hopeless suspension. The extra ask for the bling would be a much wiser spend on real suspension that works.

    This is my favourite BMW. I owned an R1100GS for 14 years and 92,000 miles.
    Some bill if you drop this bike. I'd settle for the stock one. Metzler Tourance are great tyres. I did most of the above mileage on them. I bet the old bike's weight was a dry one. This is a wet one.

    For those like me having had R 80 GS (1990) this sound looks like a heresy.The original carbureted engines had a deep thump muscle noise and much more sexy. Nowadays I have no envy to buy one of these. Am I getting old perhaps...😁 And those blinking cosmetics acessoires are so disposable..

    I had to laugh at the "baked beans" exhaust note!! Very good observation! I have a normal R9T with USD front forks - the rear suspension (shock) is really not good... much to hard for the thin seat! Otherwise I enjoy the bike (apart from the "excuse me" LOL!!) Regards!

    Actually prefer the looks of the Scrambler, though other reviewers stated they found the steering vague although this may be due to the Metzeler Karoo tyres. Maybe the Tourance tyres help overcome any vagueness. Have you ridden the Scrambler? Believe the Urban and Scrambler have same rake angle.

      Thank you,
      Yes, it's the same 1200cc boxer motor that BMW has been making since like forever. So it's bullet proof. It's not the new 1250 ShiftCam motor that just came out last year.
      Ride safe,

    One common point in your review with another english rewier named Dick W is the pleasure which brings both of you to laugh while riding . As a user of a 1985 R80 RT I know well the engine which powered the R80 GS. Yes, your wish that Bmw decide to make another version of this GS is great. It would be a best seller. Especially a middle class adventure "Spirit of GS" R60 GS , 60 hp, 6 m/kg torque,max weight 200kg and half the price of the R1250 GS. It would suit the needs of most flat-twin lovers who are getting a bit old now but who still hate the parallel twins+chain news 750 and 850 GS.

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  5 лет назад +3

      A middleweight boxer GS...hmm... about 200kg, about half the power & price of the 1250 boxer...hmm... That actually sounds like a good idea.
      BMW are you listening?

    • @didierplouhinec4899
      @didierplouhinec4899 5 лет назад +1

      Yes the highest challenge for BMW would be to built the most reliable ever adventure bike with a modern boxer and bomb proof electronics reduced to the minimal. On each review of BMW bikes I write about this hoping the miracle. With the heavy R1250 GS,BMW only sells the dream of adventure to rich guys too old to handle a 250kg bike in a narrow trail. A more accessible flat-twin with a final drive shaft is needed.

    • @oldtimer3824
      @oldtimer3824 4 года назад

      Agree, 1250 GSA is an elephant heavy 616 pounds with empty side cases. GS/GSA forums have a few nightmare scenarios of keyless fob not working on new 1250’s. BMW, please offer a simplified lighter old school GS.

    R nineT Urban GS or Triumph speed twin - your choice?

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  5 лет назад +2

      Well, one pays homage to 1980 and the other goes way back a lot farther to 1938, so it really comes down to what look you want. Both are good modern up-to-date machines. Boxer or parallel twin.
      Looks, Speed Twin wins for me. Function, both perform well, Speed has more power/torque and will go faster in a corner than the Urban. So I guess I've just talked myself into a decision...lol.

  • @simonlutt9849

    It's my absolute favourite among the RNineT's! Well, along with the new modell /5, which is just awesome.
    The Urban G/S is the successful of the famous R80 G/S and it's the only RNineT with a real nice seatheight.
    Being 6ft 3in you have to consider those things ;)
    Btw...
    I think you put bumblebees inside :D
    PS:
    This video kind of reminds me of the video from your wifes Honda. I'm assuming it was that much fun, was it?

      Bumblebees...LOL!
      Hi Simon, yea, this bike was fun but fun in a different way from the Honda XL50, that's just a toy that is fun to play with, not a serious riding machine, this is a serious riding machine and fun at the same time.
      Take care, Scott
