Here's the funny thing that shows why basketball is worse off today: Manufacturing. Nobody tries to do everything these days, because it waters down the final product and makes you less efficient at it. People specialize - only needing to do certain things allows you to focus on those things and get REALLY good at them. Everybody being able to shoot makes it harder for defenses to cover, sure, but everyone doing the same jobs on the court shuts out what could be guys with extreme skill at one job. Instead of a Jordan averaging 30, a Pippen averaging 20, and a Rodman with 10, let's have three guys that average 20. Great. Do those three guys now play defense as effectively as Jordan (high steals, decent blocks, some rebounds), Pippen ( decent steals, decent blocks, some rebounds) and Rodman (some steals, decent blocks, high rebounds)? No, because they don't work on those skills or obsess over them like Rodman did.
Is it cool to see anyone able to score? Sure, but guys that once would have been the greatest at something now wouldn't make the team. Dennis Rodman in Chicago averaged 5.3 points per game. Tell me a team today that is going to keep a player around with that average.
Also, at 16:00 in: Do people actually think that the Bulls would have been disadvantaged against a dominant center? The same Bulls team that swept Shaq's Magic in the playoffs?

Not-so-hot take:If the 2015-16 Warriors had won the NBA Finals, they’d still only be the 2nd best team. The Warriors would have gone 16-8 in the playoffs compared to 15-3. That extra regular season win would not have overcome a greater struggle in the playoffs. I know, I know. Steph’s MCL wasn’t right for almost the whole stretch, but injuries are part of the game. As much as I would like to see a team surpass the ‘95-‘96 bulls one day, it’s still the standard.

A very well blended team. They beat everyone !
I think that even if not extraordinary, their big mens were often underestimated, not only Longley and Wennington (12 point per36 min stat and they were able to realize it if they played this time, they have decent midrange shot and passing skills), but also Edwards and Salley, who provided experience, and particullary championship experience (former Pistons as Rodman). We also must understand how they were used and what was their role in the team : They were there not to provide many points, but to exhaust dominant centers, particullary Shaq, to foul him, to cook him to serve him to Rodman when the moment come (Phil Jasckson said that Rodman couldn't defend a full game on Shaq, only some minutes, and puted him on this matchup only during some clutch moments).
It's fun to see that the bulls recruited old rivals to build their team (3 pistons, Ron Harper, Parish the followin year).
The expansion argument is false : Damon Stoudamire's Raptors were one of the few teams to beat the Bulls this year.
From 94 to 97, the 3pt line was set at 22 ft, not 23.9 so % were higher.

We couldn't stand Detroit and now they're bringing one of the "bad boys" from that Piston team into our beloved team with Pip and Jordan? However, from the very first game of that season "WHAAAT?" turned into "WHAAAAT THE?" "We might have another championship team!". The whole 'winning 70 games' thing was always a bit overrated to me because they actually were TRYING to do that, they set that as a goal for themselves that year. Let me assure you if the 83 Sixers, or the 86 Celtics, or the 87 Lakers had wanted to win 70 games and made that a goal, they absolutely could have and would have done so. That was never even talked about back then, the idea was to win your division as soon as possible so you could rest players towards the end of the year and be as rested and healthy as possible going into the playoffs, but if any one of the teams I mentioned had set as a goal to win 70 games they absolutely could have and would have. Any team pre-70s would get demolished. They lacked a whole bunch of fundamentals that every era succeeding them has. Hell the 70s nobody even had post moves other than Center's and power forwards. Everyone else were just pull up jump shooters. The 60s and 70s weren't as smart and methodical as they'd lead you to believe, they just had no moves so they were stuck dribbling with their back to the basket all game basically. They even lacked the defensive schemes every other era had. Double teams back in the day look like a double team you'd see in a pickup basketball game with Dads. Very basic coverage.

However, my choice for the greatest team of all time is the 1986 Boston Celtics. 50-1 at home between the regular season and playoffs. They would’ve won 70 before the Bulls did if they had stayed more focused for road stretches in the middle of the season. Look at videos of Pippen in the 80's I cringed when he got the ball, and forget free throws. After four years of practice with Jordan Pippen started looking like a really good player. The Charlotte hornets had Alonzo mourning Larry Johnson and Gil. The Miami heat had Alonzo morning Tim hardaway vashawn Leonard. The Toronto raptors had a young Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady. It wasn't like the expansion teams were completely without talent. @@TippotipoTom heihson I think that’s how his last name is spelled N Bob Cuzzy were the only two really good basketball players on his team until Sam Jones and John Havlicek came. And his last two titles as a player coach, everyone was old on his team, except John Havlicek and they were the 8th seed and he still coach them to beat the number one seed that was a super team juggernaut. I don’t about about he had a super team he made his team super he made every player on his team so much better, everyone was old on his team, except John Havlicek that game and everything that they do on the court so much easier because there was the most unselfish basketball player on the floor and he played the big man position better than any big man has ever done in history in my opinion if you want a center to demand the ball all the time so it takes away from your other players. That’s fine but I know Bill Russell is the ultimate teammate and leader of greatest team of all time and the best player on that team. Was always the first man down the court even in the 1969 championship. When he was the oldest player on his team. Still beating every player down so that he’d be the first thing you’d have to face as the opposing team.. if you like scoring men, I won’t argue with you if you have Kareem wilt or Shaq as your number one because you like scoring and you want a dominant big man that demand the basketball so he can score on people I understand if that’s your ultimate big man. But Bill Russell to me it’s the greatest man of all time and it’s not even close to one in the row Total means you played better than any other basketball player in NBA history. No team was led to more success than with Bill Russell and his playing style. All of his teammates are the most successful teammates of all time because of his style. The Celtics never won a championship before Russell even got there. When Bill Russell got there, they won won the rookie season. Lost the next season and then proceeded to win eight in a row. Finals MVPDPO didn’t even exist in that time. He probably have 7 to 8 of each guaranteed. Could have as much as 10. I measure a players worth of their team success, and how much success he leads them to. You can be the greatest individual player of all time. This is a sport and however, your team succeeds is how you succeeded. Bill Russell led the greatest Dynasty of all time. Better than any basketball player has ever done in history. Defense wins championships and he is the secretary of defense, the greatest defender of all time. And those has the most rings. Michael Jordan has six rings LeBron has four they quoted as the two greatest basketball players of all time both of their championships added together, doesn’t even equal out to the amount of titles. Bill Russell won in 13 seasons as opposed to two guys who had 16 and 20 for seasons played.. People are absolute. They really think those careers are more outstanding than Bill Russell.. team team team team championship field nostra nobody but him to run to the bench to and come up with the game plan against the other coach on the other side of floor, and then go on the court and executed against the team he is the goat and it’s not even close

The 96 Bulls defense was as good as It could be to guard Curry , Klay and KD with Rodman on KD , Klay was a great 2 way player back then plus Green would be an x -factor. The bulls could put on the court Kerr, Jordan, Pippen, Kukoc, and a 5. 4 players can hit threes with some measure of regularity, so they could play today. Jordan upped his 3 game just to talk trash to Drexler, you *know* he'd up it if it became a part of the offense. All that bombing away would mean a wide open lane for jordan with no hand checks.
meanwhile, put curry, thomson, and even somewhat Durant against the Bad Boy pistons. KD would cry, curry would be laying on the floor.
