Dennis Rodman is honestly still underrated. The fact that he defended prime Shaq is insane. He had 7 inches and over 100 pounds on him. That's a significant physical advantage that would crush the opposing defender in the post every single time. Unless the defender's name is the Worm! His greatness and tenacity in rebounding, defense and hustle put him at top 6 PF all time for me.

The way this team moved the ball and played defense was something to behold. It's crazy to think that they had a bunch of guys in their 30s (their top 4 starters) and were so good on defense. These guys were all at the age where their egos had diminished somewhat but they weren't yet old enough to have declined tremendously. It was a perfect storm. Harper, Jordan, Pippen, Rodman with the towering Longley inside, then sharpshooters Kerr and Kukoc coming off the bench. All these guys bought into what Phil Jackson was trying to do on the court and it was beautiful.

95-96 was my senior year of high school and living in Detroit I got a lot of Bulls games because we could get Chicago's WGN channel, which played one or two Bulls games a week. Plus TBS, TNT and NBC games, so I saw many, many of the 96 Bulls games and 100% of their playoff games. IMO the 96 Bulls are the greatest defensive team I've ever seen. Better than the 85 Bears, 00 Ravens, or Bad Boy Pistons (sacrilege, being from Detroit). They dominated like no other. A game would go like this. At the end of the 1st quarter the Bulls would be up say 4. Halftime up 6-8 points. End of the 3rd up 18-25. And win by 10-15 points. What happened? The Bulls would come out after halftime and play the greatest defensive you've ever seen. Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman would fly around getting steals, forcing turnovers, blocked shots and even Harper got in on it. They were suffocating. And Longley was a big that could protect the rim. The Bulls starters would barely play in the 4th quarter. The other team would only score 8 to12 points in the 3rd quarter and the game would be over.

You have 3 of the best defensive players of all time and Harper probably was the 3rd best defensive PG by position that year behind Payton and Stockton. Harper would shutdown Curry by denying him the ball. Guard can easily shutdown Klay and Pip would use his length against KD. Rodman disrupts Greens play making.
Offensively, GSW has no one who can guard Jordan, Klay isn't athletic enough, maybe Iggy but can't see him doing it the whole game and he isn't strong enough. Kerr as a coach would know the triangle but there's just no one stopping Jordan and most likely would majority of GSW in foul trouble. Green is maybe strong enough but too slow for Jordan, same as KD if theh want to add length but that leaves Pip havign a mismatch.

They had the best offense in the league, with three starters who were really just there for defensive purposes.
Harper, Rodman, and Longley were barely offensive threats (Harper was in his younger days, but not with the Bulls).
That leaves Jordan and Pippen, and Pippen was never a dominant scorer.
They did have Kukoc and Kert off the bench, but Kukoc was the only one who could even come close to creating his own offense. Kerr was just a great spot-up shooter.

Technically this team is a small ball team. Their best players or best starting 5 are all 6'6 - 6'10 They are all basically position-less and they can all shoot, minus Rodman. This team is literally playing small ball with their starting line up. They have two very decent bigs with Luke Longly and Bill Winnington, and smaller players like Kerr and Randy Brown (Ron if you are a NBA Storyteller fan); so they can play a traditional position style game if necessary but their best line up is position-less and is technically "small ball"

I really think the '96 Bulls would beat any team if the games were played with the rules of 95-96 season. Meaning tougher defense would be allowed. MJ, Pippen and Rodman would be able to stop and outrebound anyone. MJ would score his 35 and Pippen his 20 with relative ease. Then add 15 from Kukoc, 8-9 from Longley, 7 from Harper and another 7-8 from Kerr.

I prefaced it with the word “possibly”. I also would go with Wilt, but Rodman certainly has an argument. I’ve talked about this in previous videos, but Rebounds as a whole were crazy inflated in the 60s and 70s. There were more possessions, faster pace of play, and worse field goal percentages league wide, getting as low as 40% league average. When Rodman was putting up his amazing rebounding numbers, the average was slightly above 80 rebounds a game. When Wilt was doing his thing, there was between 130 to 145 Rebounds A GAME. That’s an insane advantage, and it’s why plenty of guys were averaging over 15 Rebounds a game a season in the 60s, while Rodman was basically the only guy exceeding that number in the 90s. Point is that if Rodman played in the 60s, there’s a good chance he’s rivaling Wilt Chamberlain rebounding numbers. At the VERY LEAST, Rodman has an argument.

Want your mind blown some more? Of the 10 losses, only 2 occurred with a full starting roster: 1 w/o Harper, 3 w/o Rodman, 3 w/o Longley, and 1 w/o Longley AND Rodman. THREE of these short-handed losses occurred by ONE point. ONE. To the Pacers, Raptors, and Hornets. 75-7 was extremely possible, and it could have been higher. One of the loses in the finals was a game where Harper played 1min. The other Sonics win, that The Glove takes credit for, saw Scottie shoot 20 times and make 5. Their one playoff loss prior to that, to the Knicks, featured Scottie and Harper shooting 37 combined shots and making 11.
If you gave them wins in place of the one point losses, one more out of the remaining 8 factoring rest, and a healthy Harper in that finals game that they lost by a small margin, and you’re looking at a record of 92-8 by the time they hoist the trophy.
It’s just a hypothetical. But I think it’s an idea that’s fun to play with.

Plus they used their athleticism combined with their ball handling to catch people off balance. So who is going to guard them from scoring.
