Thank you for this remarkable new functionality!
However, there is one thing that could make it even better. Pretty much a lot of space of UC1 is covered by Bus Compressor which has all of the knobs that are required for most compressors, comparing to compressor from a channel strip, ESPECIALLY attack knob.
But it's only matched with 1 single plugin, while it can be used for almost every single compressor with a lot more comfort.
So it would be great if you will allow to program it as well.

    Honest feedback:
The way the multiple instances creates multiple track duplicates in the 360 mixer is … not great to almost bad.
    The fix:
Offer a way to cycle through the different plugins on that track.
If it automatically creates a duplicate inside the mixer, you’d think there would be a way to automatically hide the duplicates, and then cycle through them… say from the numbered plugin list on the left hand side of the UF8.
The plugin control is great, fantastic really.
And I love the plugin mixer / daw fader trick.
I just don’t want that to get confusing if I have many multiple instances of 360 link.
It’s almost like this pigeon holes you into only using one per channel.

Great enhancement, SSL !! I am an early adopter of the SSL Control Surface; starting with 2 UF8s and a UC1. SSL had advertised that would enhance and evolve the platform and I have been blown away by how far it has come in a short amount of time, both from the continual upgrades and enhancements to the 360 software and features, and the addition of the UF1. These products together create a formidable virtual SSL Console experience for the modern workflow. I can just see the natural evolution to an SSL DAW (hint hint). SSL continues to reaffirm my decision to invest in SLL products; control surfaces, software , and outboard gear. Their engineering teams produce brilliant innovations and I am always eager to see what's next.

Amazing update, now plz make Bus compressor mappable with the meter working, that would be a killer feature, but I'm sure you're ready with that in your sleeve for the future, it's business after all. Quick tip 4 all users ; when you try to map VCA fader (output gain on UC-1) it doesn't map it just moves up and down but it doesn't map to desired parameter, you have to left click with mouse on the fader to confirm it.

Awesome engineering achievement! However.....you left out some serous functionality that you must do a video on. That is the functions between factory and user on the DAW Layer screen.
    1. The capability to change the V-POT (labeled V-POT) with any macro or key function other than the original defaults.
    2. The button colors can be changed.
    3. The send/plugin keys can also be programmed. I was using a generic remote parameter setup in Cubase mapped to the same keys. But with the 360 SW update, I no longer need that . Not only that, I can change the color the keys.
    4. The Automation keys can be changed.
    5. The pan and shift keys change be changed.
The above features, enhance the UF8 with use of Cubase Pro 12. I can map the plugins to the 8 V-Pots page by page. I can select the plugins via the send/plugin keys.
    Serious features. Thank you!

Cool solution better than some other control surfaces, but i wish i didn't have to put a plugin on every track and such, i wish it could just select something and easily map it. also I would want to use a few plugins all mapped together on the control surface: my choice of EQ on the EQ section, my choice of compressor defaulted to the compressor section, gate, etc. also the ability to set defaults could just automatically put the plugin there when i hit 'compressor in' or something. most daws have a way to insert a default compressor or EQ.
I find it so sad that so much of the control surface market is just not quite there yet. the best i've used is the avid S1, but that even has so many flaws (faders are a bit cheap, not enough knobs, etc). I was really hoping for a faster and easier solution with this. it is truly a great product, but this software seems very clunky (though it's better than most other control surfaces).
Really hoping that the software tech keeps getting better. I just can't justify this for my workflow just yet. it would disrupt a lot of my workflow tbh. i'd have to redo all my templates to have it compatible with this control surface.
anyway those are my mixed feelings. has potential, but needs to slot into engineers current workflows easier. lemme know if i missed something though. it could be cool if it could be placed on a bus and everything could see everything in the session. or if it was routed to it like a bus. honestly even just having it on the channel and it reading the plugins would be better than having it be every plugin on the channel needing to be re-routed through this plugin. makes me think if i needed to bring a session to another studio everything about the mix would be invalid because they don't have the plugin, but may have what was nested. just sounds very messy. I also wish pro tools had a faster/easier midi learning feature. so not entirely SSL's fault at all. we need better solutions for this problem than we already have.

Why not give SSL a break for a day? Or on the day of release? Can you imagine (or have a heart?) what goes into these solutions trying to solve one of the oldest issues since ITB came to be… Your comment tomb hopefully has been put into one of the audio forums to get others to work through… It’s astonishing the level of probably unintended disrespect or actual appreciation. There is simply no way you even became a pro using this release and having an SSL rep walk you thru maybe how it could actually work. Yes, I am sure there are actual better LEARN mapping solutions that are automatic, but what SSL did in it’s first decades, and through the last few and they never gave up knowing the future was going to be kids in their bedrooms and a non-pro yet set of learners and having to adapt to having a consumer level crappy music production install base. But, they have. I can tell you this - you will get further shifting your attitude and your comments to be actually constructive vs. a mix of random thoughts and dumps on a solution that probably works 95% across most needs/use cases. And I do not care if you do not like my comment, but it’s nauseating to see this is really the first thing said by someone to a company trying and trying to get everything right, again and again. SSL won’t like my comment at all, but this sh** on whomever or whoever with out much thought, needs to be called out.

    • @CreativeMindsAudio

@@dayzaudio been doing audio part time for over 10 years professionally as part of how I make my money. And been recording/mixing for even longer. Worked on actual ssl consoles. I think if you really read my comment and understood the intent you’d get it more. I own an artist mix by avid. It does things a lot smoother. Just has less knobs. I appreciate what has been done as it is a step forward in some ways, but also a step back in others. It’s frustrating. I earn a large part of my income from audio and music funds other parts as does live streaming. I have a hybrid setup. If I actually wanted to go full time with audio I could (and did for a bit), but I have other interests and things I love. I own plenty of SSL products I was very excited for this update as I was thinking about updating my artist mix to the SSL stuff. Physical knobs to replace my iPad knobs in the pro tools app. All about workflow. And that’s my point. Using a mouse should feel faster to setup and all than programming something. How is it that acid is the only one to solve this?! You are right though it is one of the oldest issues in ITB mixing. I thought this would solve it but it feels like the same old thing but slightly better. It’s not easy at all and I’m glad SSL is trying. It still feels like they were hyping it up too much. In any case if they can get it working for an SSL strip, but not others by those companies? If it is just presets they could have put in more work to get it working better with those companies? In any case I just thought it was going to be a more seamless solution. I was wrong and oh well.
As far as the other reply I dislike waves and rack plugins aren’t my thing. While it saves on plugins, it doesn’t work in my workflow great as I usually like to use multiple manufacturers in a chain and am pretty picky. I know some rack loaders are fine with 3rd party stuff but I doubt a UAD dsp powered plugin would work great in it. Also it’s extra clicks to bypass something, which is annoying (and a big complaint about this).
Anyway to sum up my comment it’s looking at all sides of it and I’m disappointed because the initial announcement seemed like it would be more seamless like an avid artist mix.

Nice update but UF1/8 integration needs to be fixed. Plugins that don't use all parameters will show parameter names of the SSL channel strips and that is confusing. There is no way to get rid of them. We should be able to clear the parameters so they don't show on the screen. Makes the UF1 unusable for Link for many plugins. Also, others mentioned automation. This is essential that we are able to automate our mixes. The 360 layer does not allow access to the automation buttons on the units. Seems this could be solved by allowing access to the DAW layer for these unused buttons. You can utilize multiple midi ports so why do all buttons have to operate in just one or the other?

  • @adknon9631

Yeah. Super nice and this opens a new workflow world. But as a UC1 user, I was immediately thinking about a new controller layout, which is more universal with Buttons, Faders and Encoders. Please think about releasing a new controller with Link capabilities. In my head I have a kind of universal layout like Launch control Xl, but with your controller and Link options.

  • @PabloVacaRodriguez

@10:12 he says you can control multiple plugins at the same time?
Does this mean you can control let’s say
Distressor on channel 1 mapped to the uc1 and 1176 on channel 2 mapped to uf8?
Or does it mean you can control insert one mapped to uf1 and insert 2 of the same channel mapped to uf8?

    • @DelayHaus
      @DelayHaus 3 месяца назад

So this refers to using the 360° Plug-in Mixer; which when used as a layer on the UF8, any parameter touched in a 360° enabled plug-in will be available across all channels on the UF8. so say I have the Mic Pre Saturation control selected, that same function is now mapped to all the V-Pots for all plug-ins on those 8 fader channels. Remember, if using 360° channel strips then they will all be that control, but on a 360° link plug-in, it'll access whatever that control is mapped to.

Not sure what you mean, I have got plugin control using Vpots, by hitting the plugin button on the the 4 buttons the top number 3, you can then select the insert and corresponding plugin, but it’s pretty random as to what parameters appear, max 8 using the 5-8 button. This new functionality using link does not appear to work. The link interface parameters connects with the plugin, but there appears to be nowhere to select the 360 mixer plugin control.

    • @DelayHaus
      @DelayHaus 4 месяца назад

@@themattprofessor in the video I’m not using the DAW plug-in control on the UF1/8 but instead I’m switching layers to the 360 (app) plug-in mixer layer.
When using that layer, the 360 link (plug-in)’s extended controls are auto mapped to the first 4 V-pots and buttons around the UF1 screen. So here I’m using the connected link plug-ins extended functions to map, but if I bank to the next page all of the 360 link (plug-in) controls are accessible.
So for this purpose ignore Logic’s plug-in control and use a secondary layer of the controller to connect to the plug-in mixer layer and have it connected to Logic in this way. Then all 360 powered channel strips and Link are accessible across all the v-pots when you select any control.
      Hope that makes more sense?
