@@normandavidtidiman9918 why do you say that? They were a couple for years. The entire band was created over their relationship, not to mention 2 movies and so many books. Even on the last tour, decades later, George sang parts of Taylor Swifts Never, ever, getting back together to Jon on stage. Jon is married with grown kids now, but he and George were an epic couple and their nights out the town were legendary, back in the day. Their fights even more so

My grandparents raised me several yrs of my younger childhood yrs. I remember a friend let me borrow this record. I always kept my record player down low because I knew how they would react hearing this type of music. Well long story short my grandma just walked in my room and heard it and totally had a fit when she seen the cover she also found my Madonna like a Virgin album. I'll never get that day out of my head she broke my album and went to the school to the principals office and let it be known that she believed the school didn't have children attending it had twisted minded juvenile delinquents attending at that school. Also one of the most embarrassing moments of my life but at that time that's how a lot of people thought especially the elder generation. I'm here to say I still listen to boy George and George Michael.

The era when it was still possible for people to say 'Is it a boy or a girl?' - which is putting a date on myself. Transcendental voice of a scene, George O'Dowd became one of the UK's biggest exports for the period. Can you imagine it in the America of today?

Not really. Everyone in the band, industry and fans with half a brain, knew about George and Jon. George outted them, many times. Every song is about jon. They couldnt be totally out, it was the early 80s. But Jon left his fiancee, a very wealthy society girl, for George and made the reason known. Look at all the photos of them holding hands in airports or kissing in public... that was radical and ballsy, for the time.

It''s been almost 40 years later now and their songs always sound so fresh, like they could have been written this week. I'm happy that a young lady like yourself can get into their music. I have a great song by Culture Club to recommend to you. It's called "Cold Shoulder". It's a serious song about romance, love, and how it is to be put aside by someone you care about. Hope you enjoy it. ;-) ;-) ;-)

You really got it right, way more than most people. The song and pretty much all the songs, George wrote for and about the drummer, Jon Moss, and they had one of the most volatile, passionate romances for many years. Jon had been straight, but fell for George. Many books, movies, etc on their love. Jon left his fiancee and made it clear it was for George. Family, friends, the band, industry knew, most fans did too. George wanted Jon to be a true disney boy friend in public, but it was the early 80s. Jon is small, very tiny and George is a big guy, especially back then. Jon has a napoleon complex. He was an orphan, jewish and never felt right in his adopted high society family. His face got slashed after a show, when he was still in the punk scene, because he was a jew. He had his own baggage and George was beyond insecure and very dramatic. George became a full blown drug addict, in just one weekend, to punish Jon.
They are cute friends now, as old men. George dotes on Jons kids. When George went to jail, Jon wrote him daily, despite the decade since they dated. George got clean, became a health nut, found peace, lost tons of weight and has been a new man. On his own, George is a force of nature. When with Culture Club, its magic. The other 2 in the band are funny... they talk about how they wanted to be rock stars for the chicks and ended up in a band with non stop gay drama.

Boy George is Culture Club. He grew up in London England with an Irish Dad who used to beat him up because he is gay. Karma Chameleon is about himself and his life of trying to fit into various aspects of his life from his family upbringing to his days in Camden Town North London in the Club's and visiting the King's road fashion stores then going to the clubs. Camden Town was full of the stranger aspects of life so to speak. The people that were cutting their own fashions and were classed as weird back in the day
The song was written by George who was actually singing about his life acting as a chameleon in various environments of London.
George does speak up for himself big time he was a pioneer of gay people in 1983 when this song was written it was his actual fight back in a very conservative London at the time where gay people used to get beaten up regularly.
Unfortunately George then became depressed after a break up with co band member Marilyn so turned to drugs namely heroin. He ended up in prison and drug rehabs. Causing the end of Culture club as a band. But as a recoved addict he had now reformed culture club and are touring the UK again. So to say boy George doesn't speak out is a boy of a misjudgement of him. He had a horrendous life from family trauma to fame then hard drugs and prison. George is actually a very resilient man and a very talented artist who grew up in a time when London was a very different place where liberal views weren't heard of he was a pioneer for the society of liberal values

React to Black Money by Culture Club. Great song! George was on The Voice as a judge in England. THE song is Do You Really Want To Hurt Me. George's voice is unreal!

The colors red, gold and green represent free African nations. This song is about the dichotomy between the day to day relationships of "owners" and their slaves. Good reaction, honey. P.S. Always listen to your mama.

I'd day most people of the 80's were very accepting if Boy George Became a worldwide celebrity. I was a child when this came out, never cared if he was gay or whatever, just a good happy song.

Hello Javy!!! Luv You!! Sly and Family Stone
"Sly And Family Stone" Thank You(falletme be mice elf agin)" (circa 70). The funkiest song ever written!!
Bassist Larry Graham literally invented slap bass on this joint.
They were the Beatles of Funk!!
Then check the stretched out even nastier reversion
" Thank You For Taking Me To Africa". circa 71 Music was segregated. This could have been on rock stations as well!! I grew up with Classic Rock. Then I discovered the funk!!!
I'll put this up against anything you've reacted to thusfar!!
Trust me!! . Can't wait to see your response when you hear that nasty groove!!!!
