I'm actually watched a few videos about guys putting Predator 212 on dirt bike frames and it seems like a really good alternative when the motor blows up on these dirt bikes
Now that I've seen this. I'm not sure I would do this mod. I would like to have it in the stable though. Reason being is that with this setup you have an automatic style trans for a dirtbike. With manual you have the engine engaged to the wheel full time and have that instant response to power up but with automatic you have to let the torque converter spool up after coming to a slow crawl right after a hard brake. I'd have friends or kids practice on this first before going to a bigger manual bike. GG guys
I’m putting a 212 in my old 86-87 Kawasaki KX80 and I was wondering how I’m going to cut the frame and make up a new to mount up the 212. This video has helped a lot thank you.
They bought it for the motor. Played with it for a bit. Took the motor. It was just sitting around. Might as well make something useable out of it. Stop the hate. We all know that it was a better bike before. But it made an even better shifter kart.
Nice build, you guys are fun to watch, enjoy your videos. There's a guy on youtube that I saw last week who took an '82 Dodge Ram50 4x4 and installed a Predator 212cc engine in it. Funny to see that tiny engine under the hood. It ran pretty good, I was surprised. He got it up to about 15mph or so. He welded a sprocket to the truck transmission input shaft, then just hooked it up via chain to the predator. He was running a regular centrifugal clutch, and somehow it pulled that truck along just fine, but only in first gear of course.
It's Just me but I would like to have seen the trike have the side shaft motor but it still looks absolutely awesome as a dirt bike. Killer work guys. Hope to see many more builds like this.
Says "This is a pretty much stock engine" later says its Tillotson 212cc with a 196cc head with a Mod2 cam, don't know your version of stock but that's not it to me.
to keep the chain tension perfect through the travel you need the rear pulley and its axle put intoo bearings in the same spot the pin for the rear suspension used to mount could do a u shaped piece of pipe over the carb and mount the airfilter on that inside the frame , will make driving it a little more comfortable
@Red Beard's Garage Hey i was wondering would this work with a 10hp Techcumseh flathead? i found a dirt bike roller for 250 and was thinking of doing this with it. Think it would work?
Do you know how to disable the compression release on these engines? Its really the last item that could possibly be giving me a hard time and I could care less for it with electric start.
