Cracking vid mate and sound consumer advice! Well played Glen on finding a cracking motor and thanks for sharing. Love that the QP still has a little hold over you 😂
I'm a big fan of the Lexus gs my brother has owned a couple of hybrid versions gs450h. The downside to hybrid is the fact the batteries take up half the boot space but you get a 3.5 v6 combined with a hybrid. This way you get 340bhp and still get 30mpg around town and 40mpg on the motorway
@@dadcars if they get serviced on time the batteries tend to last. His gs450h was the first hybrid I've driven and it's really smooth and refined with instant torque. Don't think of it anything like a Prius because a Prius doesn't have 340bhp
@@dadcars I have the V8 my pal had the 450H hybrid and you really MUST drive one, much quicker than my GS430 off the line (I think it was the first "performance" hybrid) also, his had a huge HKS exhaust meaning he could crawl around in silence when required or boot it for aural pleasure 😊
@@jacklee7104 I have the gs450h, it really does get up and boogie! Many a young hoon have fallen victim to its sleeper look. I had contemplated the gs430 however, I have a V8 volvo xc90, and it's exhaust note is something special.
It's got that Hot Hatch mentality that makes a perfect Dad Car: drive the kids to school practically and comfortably then blaze home like your hair's on fire (or beard). And with so few around, while it may not be the most special looking car (although very handsome I think), knowing you've got something quite rare does make it a bit more special.
I had to watch this because I've got this car and I'm a dad. It's exactly as you say. It's a reliable comfortable biggish car which sounds great and goes fast enough to make you feel like you've got something which isn't boring or ordinary. Although I've been guilty of thinking about getting a Quattroporte too...
Hey mate, love this, just catching up on some of your videos. I’ve had two Lexus ISF’s with its 5.0 V8 developed with Yamaha and 416bhp. You should try and get one on the channel, very Jekyll and Hyde car. Rare too.
Love the video with the kids in the back. I hate that people decide that they need to turn in their manhood and get an SUV or minivan if they have kids. Not sure if this car is available where you live but I own a 2012 Hyundai Genesis with a 4.6 L V8. That option was available beginning in 2009. There is also a 5.0 liter V8 available starting in 2012 with 429 horsepower.
Great review, I've got the GS460 of this car. Very rare car with 341hp V8 and the same 8 speed as the ISF. You forget to mention it's got radar cruise control and it actually works
@@dadcars Funny you should say you loved your MR2. I had my turbo since '08. It was reviewed a few years back on OGassed channel black 430hp one. You'll probably find it if you search it Life happens but my toy stays. Keep up the good work
Fantastic review, love mine bought 5 years ago in really good condition and paid £4000 I drove most of the competition (545, E500, XF) and only the Jag got close but the cheaper and more reliable Lexus got my vote. Only thing ive done is service it and put a stainless steel exhaust on for a bit more sound (the guy who made it said it would spoil it, yet in reality its barely any louder than stock unless you find a tunnel and roll the windows down 😈) interestingly I was looking at a GS300 but are hard to find with all the toys then I found this much rarer 430 and realised they all come fully loaded for the UK market! Also mine is 2005 meaning its around HALF the price to tax as the 2006 onwards. Must be mad but I'm thinking of selling mine simply because I miss having a manual about 10% of the time.
Fellow dad here and I daily a Lexus LS430 2005 and it's excellent for hauling kids, it shares the engine with the GS and it's a kin to the best engine ever built imo. The LS is a little bigger and quiter, what sold me on the LS vs. GS is the materials the sourcing team used were superior.
Nice video. I have the exact model you got I'm fixing up right now. 200k miles and engine runs perfect just needs a transmission. I'd say if you can get one bite the bullet now because the rarity is driving the prices up.

Another point about this car is that adaptive suspension shocks are expensive from Lexus especially for a cheap car to start with. Good thing is you can buy the static shock replacements from the gs300/350 of the same model year and just unplug
I fitted a pair of new adaptive shocks on mine when I first got it, £118 from a local company not 100% if they are genuine but 5 years since and they are still working fine.
Im considering a GS so that helped. Atleast i have my Audi A5 coupe, not as baby friendly car but if child is about 1,5yo then you can manage somekind of a safetyseat in, tho its hard to find a seat that sits good with sportseats
