I lift my hands in prayer and praise in church and at home because my heart , soul and spirit are all seeking relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.❤

    Very helpful teaching.
John Piper is right that the stress in this verse is on holiness, but he is also right that Paul assumes that raising hands is the normal way to pray.
Importantly too, we can't just say that this was an Old Testament practice that would be fitting for Jewish Christians but not for Gentile Christians, because in Ephesus, where Timothy was located, a large majority of the Christians would have been Gentiles. In other words, it is clearly a practice that is not dependent on culture.
So we should raise our hands in prayer unless we believe there is a good reason why our particular circumstances mean we shouldn't.

I was just thinking about a similar concept yesterday. When talking to a customer or my friend or a woman. I held the thought in the back of my mind. "God can easily just crush me right now, if He wanted to" Solomon was right. It causes a perspective shift that automatically makes me much wiser. Where id normally have been swayed by manipulation tactics. Focusing on fear of God makes all those tactics fall apart my fear of man drops. I can be real with ppl. Temptation to gossip fades. Temptation to go to far with a woman fades. Etc.. idk if thats what the proverbs was getting at. But whatever it was it worked for me. Kinda wanna build that habit.
Be bold for God. Not quarrelsome with each other. Don't be afraid to throw your hands in the air in reverence for our creator. Do be embarrassed to have your life filled with petty drama like a Jerry springer episode

1(A Psalm of David.) Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

When Paul says that he wants men to pray with raised hands, he doesn't mean that women shouldn't do this.
As John Piper notes, in this verse the focus in Paul's teaching about men is on their need to avoid anger and quarrelling. The raising hands in prayer is more of a framework in which Paul gives his teaching on anger and quarrelling.
We know anyway from 1 Cor 11:5, 13 that it is good for women to pray in church gatherings, and there is no reason at all to think that they shouldn't raise their hands when doing so.

A man tends to seek his own dignity through forcing it through power and gets angry when his dignity is not respected. A woman tends to seek her own dignity through receiving it through marveling and when often dresses and acts in attention seeking ways when her dignity is not respected.

Some Bible quotes and The Gospel - How to Get Saved
    KJV
Romans 5:12 - Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
    Romans 3:10,23-24
3:10- As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one
3:23-24 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
    1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
-(How that Christ died - he shed his blood)
    Romans 3:25
Whom God hath sent forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remissions of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.
    Hebrews 9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
    Ephesians 1:7
    In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
    Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Hebrews 10:10
By the which we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all
    Once Saved Always Saved
    Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.
    John 10:27-28
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

I don’t really lift my hands because of embarrassment, which is hard to admit… I also come from a mildly charismatic background so lifting my hands feels fake most of the time. Also, does the same emphasis apply to the women’s passage, as in the focus is on modesty? I love clothing and dressing up, but I have confusion about the passages regarding adornment

    • @Nicolee7764
      @Nicolee7764 Год назад

I enjoy adornment as well. The Bible talks about giving gold & silver and bracelets. However, as l gather, it becomes a problem if such adornment is used for carnal purposes. Or if it's causing distractions.

    • @steflondon88

I have learned about this - It is not that we are to think jewelry is evil or bad, but it is the hearts condition. Also - in those days and areas, women were wearing ridiculous amounts of gawdy and overwhelming apparel and jewels/ hair do's etc just for getting tons of attention and distracting people.
So - when it says it beauty is not about outer adornment its not saying DONT wear them, its saying, where is your heart and what do you see as TRUE beauty? It is normal to want to feel pretty and lovely, it is another to want glory and all attention on you. The same thing goes with saying women be silent in the church - women were speaking up and interrupting services. So, it's not saying it in the way people always think. We have to think about. CULTURAL context and what was happening at the time.and God is always about the HEART. People otherwise judge as a pharisee./ Same goes for modesty - we don't need to be wearing a dress down to the floor, but if your heart is convicted that is where you are leaded. I think praying into things will reveal what the Lord would have us do, but be careful it isn't the enemy (satan) sending condemning voices.

Hello. It's my belief and scripture proves that: because of the fall we are dead in trespasses and sin (Ephesians 2), and we have Adams guilt imputed to us and die. (Romans 5).
The Fall has a real and devastating effect on every part of man's nature, including the will which is enslaved to sin. ( Romans 6 verse 6)

Another chapter in the Law According to MacArthur? Soon, he will be offering his new religion (with grift for him) to the public. This question was answered, in half a line, in a similar question about whether men should cut their hair) by a comment that God doesn't look at external appearnces AT ALL, something that this misleader had never heard before! It was too fundamental to debate. But I suppose that if you accept John's thesis that in Heaven we will keep our earthly looks, it would be polite to have a haircut first!
