I don't mean to be mean but a mess of your theories in this video can be shot down edit: oh you also forgot about a big problem with the Zelda dev teams and that is the team that creates the next Zelda game sometimes doesn't give to 2 F**ks about games from 2 or more titles back and will just add on their own stuff this is a reference to Story BS for Tears of the Kingdom
@@wizcatcheslightning yeah sorry just really mad about Tears of the Kingdom not fucking explaining anything and actually adding more confusing stuff I mean spoiler but the Tri-force isn't alluded to at all in that game at least not storywise
@@origialtych I think this is intentional. It’s up to us as fans to dig further to try and make sense of it all. I don’t mind the lore being a puzzle because it’s a lot of fun to theorize and speculate
@@wizcatcheslightning I guess oh hey I have this wild thing that is bothering me if you have played thru the story of Tears of the Kingdom already can run for just second opinion?
The demise symbolism on ganondorf doesn’t necessarily mean demise is coming back in his original form, it might just emphasize ganondorfs connection to him as his reincarnation
I think after you watch the memories in the game you understand why his appearance is very much akin to Demise. The demonic power within him is amplified, so it is very reasonable that he would take on a form that resembles Demise.
the secret stones amplify power that already resides in it's user so it makes sense ganondorf as he gets more powerful and closer to godhood he would resenble the god that gives him those powers
I think the "demise" look is just features of the "demon king" So of course when Ganondorf becomes the demon king himself, he gets the "demise" features.
**spoiler** Rauru is the sage of Light. Sonia, his wife, is the sage of Time. Zelda has the blood and power of both in her. Which is why she can repel evil herself.
@@AlumineaLaMay trust me those ain't spoilers! They're both in the trailers. Saying who Rauru really is or why their is 2 Temple of Times is the real spoiler
Fi's remark on how Hylia's story being passed down by oral tradition as unreliable is interesting meta-commentary on the Legend of Zelda series as a whole. The lore and timeline inconsistencies of Zelda can be attributed to how badly the Legend was passed down. Really, it only becomes inconsistent when a specific aspect is related to the lore of another game. If the cost of proper storytelling is breaking some minor pre-established piece of information, then the trade off is worth it.
Funnily enough, Hylia's Chosen Knight being gravely wounded in the battle against Demise is precisely what happens in the Skyward Sword prequel manga that's in the Hyrule Historia.
@@wizcatcheslightning It's a fun read! There's never been any official confirmation whether the events of the prequel manga are considered canon or not, but it currently stands as the only story we have that focuses on Hylia and her chosen hero.
@@KevinTriforceIt's not canon..Hylia Defeated Demise.. It was believed that her chosen hero escorted the Hylians to Safety The manga s too different and Master Sword Was Created in The Game.
How did you know about the Imprisoning war before it was revealed and the goddesses be damned, you were so close. Demise didn't returned, but ganondorf was surely close to being him.
To be fair the imprisioning war is also mentioned in the Hyrule Historia timeline but in there it is placed after the timeline split of Ocarina where link is defeated. And we also have a Rauru as sage of light in Ocarina who is heavily associated with owl imagery like the Zonai.
It’s crazy how accurate many of the inferences in this video are relating to TotK. SPOILERS . . , . . . Sonia remarks how Zelda carries powers of Light and Time in her but Time is much stronger. She even ends up being the Sage of Time
@@wizcatcheslightning It's always fascinating when Zelda games reference each other only through context. It's like the DiCaprio pointing meme or Captain America "I understood that reference" meme in effect.
The double helix vine shot, the placement of the vines and the camera placement are reminiscent of MANY shots of the master sword sitting in front of the Deku Tree (even in the newest ToTK trailer, just zoomed way in when Link picks it up). Those vines could be the “Divine DNA” of the first Great Deku tree.
I’m still of the mindset that Hyrule Warriors’ events accidentally merged the timelines. The land itself has all the different landmarks of the other games scrambled around on the map of Hyrule.
And i believe that seeing another take on Rauru who's not even a human anymore and other small things, that other legends are just that - legends, nothing is canon anymore, ONLY BOTW and TOTK. Others are mere myth, never have been truth, just an interpretation of the old story with Calamity told by previous generations with slight changes over and over until current event.
@Eric_Nomad_Hixtonethe fact that zelda is the reincarnated form of hylia kinda shows the past games happened . It's literally the reason why things play out the way they do
Interesting that you note the connection between Rauru and Link considering Link possesses Rauru's arm. I think it's largely possible that the events of BotW and TotK occur after a major converging event in the timeline or in a separate arm of the timeline where the events of Ocarina of Time never happened.
We all know what Link's Deity is. The Fierce Deity. And the guy we'll be getting in Tears of the Kingdom is the real Fierce Deity. It makes complete perfect sense. Especially since the Barbarian armor is of Zonai design, which also increases attack as well. Sounds pretty Fierce to me if the Deity was an original Zonai with immense physical power and courage. Also, things in BotW that increase attack usually have the name razor attached to it. Most fierce creatures in the wild in real life are often associated with razor sharp teeth and/or claws. Hehe. So thus, I dub Link's true form and avatar to be that of the Fierce Deity.
Great video man! Small note about the Zelda Encyclopedia part where you talk about Zelda's sun/moon border, although it could be representing light, it is more likely representing the passage of time, from sun to moon, day to night, repeating over and over. Not trying to be a jerk, and I am definitely not trying to be a jerk who doesn't give a reason 😜
I see some possibilities: There is an Imprisoning War in the windwaker timeline when hyrule is flooded and then rebuilt elsewhere with Rauru as the new king. that would "explain" how it is an infinite loop with the snake eating itself, with ganondorf being the new Demise. That would also explain why there is no triforce and why there are towers. It is the timeline with more technology.
Not sure if anyone pointed this out but the swirl on the Gate of time (found on the top within this video at least) is found all over the Zonai ruins in BoTW. I also feel like several other symbols on that gate are linked with the zonai as well.
@@furrystarcat and just a whole bunch of things. Two I can think of off the top of my head: Ganondorf’s clothing in Wind Waker, and the Twili articles of clothing
The thing I found most interesting about demise is that his sword is almost like a parallel version of the Master Sword. It has an upside down triforce inscribed upon it, wing-like crossguard, and has a spirit companion. I've seen a theory that Demise actually uses the Lorule Master Sword, and I wonder if Demise is the Lorule counterpart of Hylia?
So I thought this at first, but I think it may be more complex than that. I’ll say a few things here. Remember that horned god that deals in life and power? And you can bargain your life force to gain essence? An opposite godly statue that counteracts the Hylia statues? Let’s pretend that this is Hylia’s opposite. What does that make Demise? He would be Link’s opposite 👀
@@wizcatcheslightning In A Link Between Worlds, it is confirmed that Ravio is Link's Lorulean counterpart. Also, if Demise is Hylia's counterpart, it would explain his divine influence on the world and timeline. However, you make a fair point with the horned statue.
@@TriforceJedi832 that’s true in terms of ALBW (excellent game btw), but if we remove Lorule from it all, that’s the lens I’m viewing it with. Why did Ghirahim’s sword form need to have a damn inverted Triforce on it? 🤣
Well, whether it be Lorule or Hyrule triforce, the triangles don't differentiate good or evil, only balance. Demise may have conquered Lorule in an ancient past, acquiring the Lorulean Triforce whether having balance or defeating those else who embody courage and wisdom. (Complete other theory of balance of the Lorule Triforce because it doesn't have both wisdom and courage for a foundation. But back to point of maybe the Triforce had to be destroyed to outsmart demise. Leaving the dregs left of the land pillaged he discovered Hyrule to start again
I like how you got the wrong method but the correct answer on the temple of time bit cause the blue bit was actually just the sky lol Edit: watching more of it, its increadible how this just continues to happen as somehow through the wrong method you keep getting the plot right (ig calling the magatamas (the secret stones in english) the tears but getting what they are about correct))
Wonder if in Tears of the Kingdom, we get an answer to why the Skeikah have a tear on their symbol... Maybe this game, will see the defenders of Hyrule, before the Skeikah came to be the royal guards.
Love this! I gave it some thought. Specifically about the Japanese folklore aspect. Amaterasu was born from the tears of the creator god Izanagi. So now I’m starting to think that the tears of the kingdom were gods 👀
Yo, great video bro! And yeah, just cause Nintendo likes to change lore, and sometimes looks over things or make some questionable decisions in what they let go in a book like the encyclopedia (cough) _Termina is a dream_ (cough) Doesn't mean there isn't a lot of interesting, relevant, and valuable information in those books. I own all four, the Art book, Creating a Champion, Hyrule Historia, and the Encyclopedia. Good work again man
I hate to say it, but it doesn't seem like the events of BotW and now TotK are even compatible with previous Zelda lore. There are things that just can't be reconciled. The only way it all makes sense is is you consider these last two games a soft reboot of the franchise.
I see where you’re coming from. I’m doing some lore digging to try and make sense of it all. Only completed one dungeon so far, that’s how invested I am 😆
As a fellow fan and theorist who's been in love with this series for twenty one years on going, your speculations are so thorough and connect so many hidden dots and possibilities! Some of these observations I've never even noticed before. Happily a new subscriber~!
Two images on the gate of time look familiar to me, the swirl above Din's symbol looks like a zonai swirl while the weird crest to it's right (our pov) looks a bit like the center jewel on ganondorf's headpiece, the usual one, not the new one
I think only the FIRST Zelda (the one in Skyward Sword) is the incarnation of Godess Hylia, after that lifetime was over, Hylia return to what she was, at least she's so in BoTW and ToTK cuz everythime Link pray to the Goddess Idol for hearts and stemina, there is always a diagogue transacting the process, hence it would be rediculous if Link is talking to himself
Each statue speaks to you, and they communicate with each other in a TOTK sidequest, suggesting they are seperate from each other. Japan has some concept of objects having a unique spirit in them that almost represents the emotions of the object. I think the voice you hear is simply the spirit of the altar, not Hylia herself. Also of note is the fact that Zelda mentions her grandmother having powers in BOTW and she prays to Tetra in ST (who would have been her grandmother), suggesting that Hylia reincarnates only when her previous incarnation has died.
@@Austin-kt7kythat's interesting so that also means becoming a goddess reincarnation skips a generation usually from grand parent or great grandparent to grandchild. Since you know, they aren't dead yet
No direct spoilers for TotK, but the plot beats I saw in gameplay of it seems to me that BotW and TotK are either now firmly set in a New Hyrule from OoT, or are actually the games *just after* Skyward Sword in the timeline, which might sound confusing but TotK does not leave much room for flexibility in where it is placed given what plot beats it reveals. Edit: For those that wonder why Skyward Sword's Time Travel does not generate alternate timelines with the split between Destroying the Imprisoned and then Cyclical Demise Curse due to time travel, I postulate that perhaps Skyward Sword did indeed split into new timelines, with BotW and TotK occurring in a separate timeline entirely to the other mainline games. (minus Hyrule Warriors I guess).
That’s what I’ve been hearing. Starting to think the ideas in this video were onto something 🤣 Please do me a favor and watch a video or two of GameSmiths, and tell him who sent you! That dude is a legend, and I couldn’t have made this video without him.
Spoilera. . . . . . . . . . . . .The problem with that line of thought is that the splitting of the timelines should directly cause the events that happen in each timeline, skyward sword would therefore have two timelines that only differ in how Demise was defeated, one where the curse of Demise lingers on and one where he was defeated before he can place the curse. And yet, Botw and TotK have no relation to Demise's curse or any of the events in skyward sword for that matter, Zelda and her powers have an entirely new origin, the Zonai's existence makes no sense in any timeline, and then we have Ganondorf appearing way before he should have appeared. The second timeline of skyward sword would simply be one where Demise's curse doesn't exist and the world of Hyrule would be relatively more peaceful, the same events would transpire but without all the wars caused by Demise's incarnations. Mind you this second timeline still technically shouldn't exist as skyward sword follow a loop type time travel where the future causes the past to happen, hence why in the game, Link already knows of a legendary hero chosen by Hylia in the past, only to realize later that he was the hero chosen by Hylia in the past. The timeline of BotW and TotK however, has no direct connection to anything, they can't be in the past due to the existence of races that shouldn't co-exist like the Rito and the Zora, and it can't exist in the future as the story claims to have happened around the founding period of Hyrule Kingdom. The only explanation is that BotW and TotK are an entirely different timeline, not caused by any previous split we're aware of, but happened due to the Zonai's interference, they as a race of gods might have brought races from other branches of the timeline to a separate one in order to create their own world with their own history. I would also presume that they might have abandoned this world for one reason or another, possibly because they mistakenly brought Demise's curse onto this world causing them to abandon it knowing the world will just continuously produce threats to itself and to them, or they might still be observing from it afar like some kind of experiment.
Definitely good for thought for the Zelda franchise and TOTK. Another great video dude 😁 I’m hoping I can grab my copy of TOTK when I’m off work tomorrow and dive into it for a little while. That long awaited hype build up is overwhelming 😵

Watching this after your other video on Tears of the Kingdom, and after having played the game, is really fun. You predicted so much stuff, good job! Also, Rauru as Richard? What an insane coincidence.
Crazy think how after obtaining Sonia's stone, Ganondorf became even MORE powerful than Demise himself, being able to effortlessly shatter the Master Sword in a weakened state, as well as create Calamity Ganon while still sealed.
Im convinced with the way things are shown to us in TotK that BotW’s timeline is wholly seperate from everything shown in the Hyrule Historia. Nothing lines up with what is shown in any of the other games, the “sages” are not like the ones present in Ocarina of Time or any other iteration, nobody knows about the Triforce, in fact it seems like Ganon’s only reason for existing in this timeline is chaos
Ganon's lack of obvious motivation is only in the english translation, in other languages it's something along the lines of wanting the world to go back to how it used to be and not liking how a godlike being can be so vain as to settle down and rule a kingdom or something like that
Which is weird because some of the zonai iconography shows a lot of triangles, some of the sheikah monks are signaling the triforce as they meditate while waiting for link.
No spoilers but, considering what happened with Ganon and Zelda in the final battle of tears of the kingdom, it does make for a good explanation as to how demise makes his return in Skyward Sword. Also regarding a note for future Legend of Zelda Stories. It would take a being with a great power over reality in order to upset the timeline's cycle, like the Zelda/dynasty warriors crossover, creating new stories as a result.
Personally, I think the Hyrule of the distant past is simply the Hyrule of 10000 years ago because Creating a Champion even says that there hasn't been a male Gerudo since the king who became the Calamity which I can only assume is this Ganondorf it safe to say that all the other games have already happened but a cataclysmic event happened between the Era of Myth (the rest of the timeline) and the Era of Prosperity caused the royal family to lose their position and have most of Hyrule's royal family wiped out. This actually plays well to the game's themes about rebirth, cycles, and history repeating itself with a kingdom having fallen and wracked with death and destruction only to be reborn under two young people who raise a new kingdom from the ashes.
I thInk the unfortunate truth is that nintendo doesn't really care if the timeline works or not. The compared mario to a theatre troupe before I feel like they do the same with zelda.
@@wizcatcheslightning are you sure you aren't the sage of time? I'm still baffled that you had a better understanding of how the story would go down before the game came out than me when I was 15 hours in and getting all of the dragon tears.
@@metaljeans4 ha! I appreciate the suggested honorific title. I’ve been a fan of the series (I talk about this briefly in my “you’re thinking about tears of the kingdom all wrong” vid) of the series since 1998 when I stumbled upon Ocarina of Time while visiting family for Christmas. Wind Waker made me really obsessed with figuring out everything timeline related because it didn’t make sense to my 10 year old brain. Now, what I can also attribute to how I got a lot right was really just consuming a bunch of Zelda content from like January ‘22 to present. That helped me piece everything together. Also, a huge help who I cannot thank enough, have been LoruleanHistorian (because it’s super important to understand the native language of the game) as well as GameSmiths (dude does not get enough recognition and he’s an amazing man). LH helped me understand the Japanese roots, and GS helped me with the missing pieces to the lore puzzle. Pair that with researching Japanese lore (the Magatama shaped secret stones really indicated this because they’re part of the Imperial Regalia of Ancient Japan), and boom, a decently accurate series of theories. 😎
@@wizcatcheslightning I really appreciate how connected you are to the community, how humble you talk about yourself and others and how you can convey your fascination with the franchise and all of the aspects of it's lore. I probably wouldn't have checked out those other channels but you've honestly peaked my intrigue, I haven't been theorizing about Zelda for nearly as long as you (I was 12 when I got Majora's Mask, my first Zelda game) but you seem so welcoming when talking about it. I'll definitely drop a sub and check out those other guys. 10/10 RUclipsr, I really appreciate your view on the game as well as the people around it.
Also I feel like i should clarify I'm only 19 now, I hopped on the Zelda train relatively late. I had trouble beating MM and recently went on a trip to go back and get everything in the game, what an amazing experience. The Legend of Zelda franchise is really good at bringing people together in a way that I haven't seen many games do. Of course, with all being said and done. Links crossbow training is still possibly the best game the world has ever received.
People have a hard time understanding how the world around them affects the art they consume. In the 90s, deep lore was of course a thing, but it was not rabidly eaten up by people. It's clear Miyamoto had an idea for a timeline, but didn't care if the storylines were retconned (Zelda 2 retconned parts of 1, LttP retcons parts of Zelda 2, OoT retcons parts of LttP, etc). When someone said "I don't think they put that much thought into it", they were right. Cut to the 2020s, internet is in (nearly) every household, and deep lore is a huge hook for games right now, especially as they pertain to games with story. BotW and TotK are clearly inspired by this more modern video game trapping, and it's clear Nintendo are using this Deep Lore strategy to kill two birds with one stone: By keeping their games within a timeline for the fans who want that, but keeping the connections so vague that fans can interpret the lore in their own way. So point being, Nintendo is actively trying to make Zelda lore rather than just kinda creating it just to justify gameplay mechanics and half-assing the connections.
The only thing I don't like about Tears of the kingdom and Breath of the wild is that they completely shaft the triforce to the side. Like it literally has no involvement at all when it is the staple of the series and the very thing that connects Zelda, Link and Ganondorf. For the next game I hope they utilize the triforce.
I think they already have the power of triforce. Zelda has that weird golden power, Link is far stronger, more agile, and resistant than any normal hylian, even the trained soldiers can't even compare to him, and Ganondorf seems to have the same characteristics as Link, but even more powerful in the sense of pure strength.
@Tekumoto The Zelda's hand literally lights up with the triforce and you can see the triforce Emblem everywere, on the master sword and in it's pedestal as well.
@@arminarlert7273 I would argue thats just references. Nobody verbally talks about or acknowledges the triforce and its nowhere to be found in the story. Maybe thats just what the tears become when fused?
@Tekumoto No the triforce exist literally the spring of Power, Wisdom and Corage exist as well as the three Dragons that represent the three goddesses if the three goddesses exist the Triforce exist. Those are not mere references plus how can they take away the staple of the franchise like that? The temple of time ruins are literally the ruins of the temple of time from Ocarina of time. Putting the triforce there the way they did as just a reference does not make sense at all. In Majora's Mask they don't mention the triforce either does that mean it doesn't exist?
Why has no one mentioned the fierce deity as links deity? Maybe the fierce deity was orginaly hiylias Devine knight, who fell at the hands of demises sword, which then prompted the creation of the master sword, as well as the fierce deities re:encarcnation as link?
Tears of the Kingdom expands on this idea that the other Zelda games are so far removed in the timeline that they aren’t even considered as history anymore, just vague myth by the current people of Hyrule. In fact so much time has passed that Hyrule itself faded from memory before being re-founded by the Zonai Rauru, now believed to be the first kingdom of Hyrule, despite the kingdom having risen and fallen many times before. To me this adds so much bite to the threat made by the Bringer of Demise, indeed it seems his curse is completely unending, eternal. There will always be demons and a king to lead them. But the fact that you also have Fi persisting throughout eternity and the soul of the hero and the incarnation of the goddess also being reborn endlessly throughout history to the point where no one remembers where it all came from anymore and no one has remembered it for tens of thousands of years. Really puts the ”legend” into The Legend Of Zelda.
Oral Tradition is a cruel mistress indeed… I will say this for you to consider: In the second dragon’s tear memory, Zelda says that the kingdom of Hyrule she warps back to must have been the first kingdom found during the Era of Myth. We know when the Era of Myth was. It was right after Skyward Sword 😏
@@wizcatcheslightning I guess the thing about the Era of Myth is that it’s not well documented or it wouldn’t be an era of myth. I’m always suspicious of the english translation as well which is known to have errors. But all I know is that it doesn’t make much if any sense for this past Hyrule in TOTK to be like pre-Ocarina of Time or pre- any of the other games frankly. The whole point behind the new setting in botw was to free it of the baggage of the rest of the series without ignoring it entirely. After all, in Wind Waker, barely anyone knows about Hyrule anymore after the flood, despite the timespan being FAR shorter than with botw and totk. Even in Skyward Sword, history gets lost in myth such that virtually no one knows about the time before the Hylians were sent to the sky during the first war with the demons. The idea of ancient history being lost and mythologized is not new to the Zelda series.
@@The_Story_Of_Us Great take here! I am in communication with LoruleanHistorian to make certain that translations are accurately accounting for the lore, which is what I shared with you in my previous comment. @@wizcatcheslightning there’s a channel called QuestWithAaron that has some well made and researched videos about japanese mistranslation and lost meaning in the Zelda series who I assume is busy delving into Tears of the Kingdom. Worth looking at.
The thing that’s kinda weird is, this must be a separate Ganondorf than the one we knew previously, OoT Ganondorf was born when Hyrule was already an established Kingdom, but this Ganondorf must be way older, but he’s also been imprisoned until TotK, which is a long time after OoT and the following Ganondorf appearances in WW and TP. That means there must’ve been two Ganondorfs at once during the 64 and GameCube Zeldas, one younger one and this super old demon King, chilling in the depths under the castle the entire time, which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I guess the Switch games could be an alternate timeline that doesn’t have any of these other games in it but ehh
So for that first paragraph, I think you’re absolutely right. QuestWithAaron talks about this in his Spirit of the Hero video, definitely check that out, but there’s this Japanese concept of a soul existing in two reincarnations at the same time much like how a flame can be shared when one candle lights another candle. 🔥👀
The old demon king was technically dead up until the events of TOTK, so it's possible. The master sword not existing yet as even a legend cements to me that Hyrule, or one version of it, came before the creation of the master sword. And yeah it's also possible that the spirit of Ganon roamed free while his physical body was trapped and inhabited any vessels that came along
@@clocked0 Was the Master Sword not created during Skyward Sword specifically to defeat Demon King Demise? The Kingdom of Hyrule did not yet exist at that time, just Skyloft. Everything changes in every Zelda game, except nothing does. It's like a wierd acid trip where you feel like you're moving but you really aren't. Zelda's dad is always the King of Hyrule, even when he's a dragon or a boat or whatever. Sage of time and light and music and mushrooms or whatever the theme of the game is-I never played Spirit Tracks, but if someone said Zelda becomes the Sage of Trains, I wouldn't be surprised at all. You may as well try making sense of Kingdom Hearts. The Zelda team at Nintendo has said on record that they design the game first and worry about story contrivances as an afterthought, and it shows.
I’ve said this before, but the only leaks I ever looked at were the artbook leaks. Hand on the Bible for that one. Whether you choose to believe that or not is up to you, but I’m telling you the truth 😂
What i get its that..maybe..just maybe all Zeldas are a great Time loop and we are just missing some elements to converge the timeline to botw and ToK and maybe a game or 2 More to get full cycle to skyward?..DAMN!!
*spoilers for totk* The suggestion that Rauru is the godly figure for Link makes genuine sense now that the game is out and based on knowledge we already know. The fact that in all of the games a Rauru has appeared he has been the Sage of Light, he is the one to ‘mentor’ Link when he finds himself on the great sky island and as we obviously know Link carries the ‘Sword that Seals the Darkness’ aka a Sword of Light (like it literally gives out light beams). Although we know Zelda holds both Light and Time powers, it still makes sense to suggest that maybe a portion of the Light power she has is wielded by Link and instilled in the Master Sword, after all it’s power is bolstered when pointed skyward or towards the light. This would also be such a nice, in a way, full circle moment to have Link finally have his own ‘deity’.
Yeah Rauru definitely acts as the Link figure. But I would also recommend completing all 152 shrines and then talking to Impa at Kakariko for some extra interesting stuff 😉
I had a very long discord chat (12+ hrs) with @GameSmiths and came to the conclusion at the 11th hour. I didn’t spoil myself outside of artbook leaks. Just had a really good talk and thought about Demise (who I’m blatantly obsessed with) and remembered his imprisoned nickname, and landed on the Imprisoning War (Hyrule’s history rhyming itself, a motif I’ve mentioned in a previous video) even though I wasn’t talking about the Imprisoning War mentioned in TOTK 😅
What forums you talking about? Pre OoT forums, finding zelda info wasn’t scarce but it wasn’t nearly as popular, a little dip from majora backlash but even further after wind waker, it was mainly viewed as a kids game then, then bump with twilight for a period, then skyward sword had a dip, and then breath of the wild was a breath of live into zelda and it was 1996 all over again, a bit bigger as video games aren’t just a kids thing but the kids who played OoT are now adults with kids of their own. Adults making zelda videos when it was mainly people’s jobs to post zelda content outside of forums like on GameFAQs was a big source but there is mainly OoT boost but then BotW boost was bigger and now I feel like TotK is even bigger than that. So what “before it was popular” do you refer?
First of all, love the history lesson here. Secondly, talking about the shift from the peak of copies sold going from 10 million (Twilight Princess) to 30 million (BOTW), or a 200% increase in viewership.
Each image on the gate corresponds to an era of importance as seen when Link uses it. Also, on the cover mentioned, the back of the temple of time [btow], and on the central pattern of the sanctum [btow/ before the great calamity/ totk] there is a strange symbol under the trifoce+royal crest that I for some reason always associated with the twili.
Thanks for the insight! How did you know about each tooth of the gear on the Gate of Time representing an era in the timeline? And can this symbol be seen in BOTW when you reach Calamity Ganon or in the throne room cutscene of BOTW? I want to make sure I’m looking at the correct image here 😅
@@wizcatcheslightning To answer the first question, when Link travels through the gate to the past, the gate opens and projects backward [like the mirror in TP] but the projections all should the same symbol on the teeth and shows a different one wile going Back to the Future. Both symbols can be seen on the teeth of the closed gate [past and present]. And for the second question, I'm talking about this almost shekah eye symbol seen in the center of the triforce seen in btow on the sanctum floor before it's destroyed and on the cover of the book you showed, it is small and under the triforce+royal crest in the center of the triforce.
@@wizcatcheslightning i found this theory: to recap, Link combines the full Triforce, wishes for Demise's destruction, and Sky Keep crushes the Imprisoned; then, Ghirahim travels back in time, empowers Demise by feeding him Zelda, Demise and Link fight, leading to Demise being killed by Link and his remains sealed in the Master Sword. Link, Zelda and Groose then return to their previous timeline, where Sky Keep is still on the Surface and the Triforce is still assembled. Clearly neither of these things would've happened had Demise been dead for millennia, so what we have is a definite timeline split: one timeline where Demise was killed, and one timeline where the Imprisoned was destroyed.
@@Littlestar201285 just in general, any possibility could happen at any point. But I’m not sure Nintendo would entertain that and hopefully I’m not eating my own shoe by the time I finish TOTK 😅
90% right is still great. My theory is Ganondorf’s reincarnation leads it to being a convergence sometime before TotK and BotW. Where Ganondorf is long forgotten but not his soul. The people of the Sky evolved into the Zonai, and created the Secret Stones, which Raru, an incarnation of OoT’s Sage of Light, brings to Hyrule, and the Sages are once again after being lost to time, brought back into play to as an echo of OoT but without Link yet. The first king of Hyrule, perhaps after water disappeared? And the Master Sword mostly restored to it’s former glory? Fi weakened because of the loss of it’s true master causing a sort of depression? And that’s why it mirrors all the time lines?
Theory: gate of time 12 symbols perhaps there will be 12 main Zelda games, Theory: Link is the triangle in the triangle because he just makes everything stable again supports everyone with a side quest. This is 100% link!
Interesting how The Legend of Zelda's canon seems to have completely written out the three Golden Goddesses: Din, Nayru, and Farore... And yet those names have stuck around... Eldin, Lanayru, Faron...
Oh they didn't, they're just not the focus. See the big three are the creation gods of the world... they created the triforce and all that. But currently we aren't focusing on the triforce in these recent games.

@@wizcatcheslightning can't decrypt hyrule lore without taking every element into account even music as lots of things are hidden in the musics throughout this series and yes one of the sheets is zelda's lullaby

I’m working about as well as one dude who is determined to derive lore can (while utilizing my resources haha). Any chance you know what the other sheets are for songs?
So, can anyone clear up some thngs now that ive seen everything in the game? First of all i just wanna say the game was vey fun, but. I do not like this story. At all. It's one of the most technically impressive programming feats I have ever seen, but certain continuity issues i dont undestand/and or am not a fan of. This has made this by far the weakest zelda story in my opinion by far. (Other opinions are okay, and i love this series.) There are far too many plot holes actively trying their best to tear apart the fabric of the canonical lore established here. First of all, rauru. I understand its implied he came during a gap in time where he and a descendant of zelda, (as an incarnation at least) Sonia, made the first kingdom of hyrule. Why does the kingdom look so aesthetically different from hyrule in the memories? In the sky what comes to be hyrule is inspired by westen european (hylian) and what id always assumed to be several eastern asian (shiekah) human inspirations for architecture. (Not to mention seveal other periodic creatures/races that are geneally consistent.) It sounds like a nitpick, but the whole aesthetic of the past looks inconsistent. The zonai do not fit. Plague or not, to explain why they are gone *now.* If the zonai were always around, why didnt we see them in the sky? Rauru always likes to tell me how heroic and "first kingly" he is, but his existence and the existence of his race come from nowhere. Where were these beings in skyward sword, where was literally *any* hint that there would be a race of sky cat people with technology equivalent to sheikah? If their tech were indeed equivalent and they were benevolent, why would they not have co-existed with races prior? The zonai wee obviously made as an afterthought, which isnt inherently a bad thing, but there is no effort to explain away anything to do with them. In a series where we see pecursors to zora, gorons in SS, and several other races specific to certain times, the zonai are the only ones leaving me feeling like an inclusion that doesnt fit. They werent a clandestine society, rauru was the *first king.* Why is this not history? That's a pretty inclusive and broad concept to found a kingdom on. (I honestly did think it was cool Nintendo had the gall to include an inter species marriage in a fantasy setting.) But this isn't seen reflected across history at all. They werent around the hylians of the sky 2 mainline games ago, the game with the hub literally set above the aky barrier. (Yes i know hylian constructs fell to the ground and some can be found in botw, like the springs.) I guess my main issue is, why not draw from the rich well of lore already established to explain constructs above the sky barrier, rather than introducing some new made up race the game constantly tells me i need to care about? Also, is zelda a dragon during the age of calamity? Did the timelines split here? If so, thats a major hole in the first game. If calamity ganon was around, hiw was ganondorf being sealed with part of his power before? Why doesnt ganondorf have any knowledge of the prophecy, nor zelda, when zelda is shown to be an astute scholar and his NAME IS GANONDORF. Yet, she doesnt even connect this with the calamity at all. There is really no mention of a pursuit for the triforce, nor ganondorfs motivations or character at all, and he has no memories in this incarnation of anything besides cat sky people time. Somehow these new tears are more important than, idk, the main thing hes always pursued. Speaking of: Where is the triforce? I loved playing this game, but after the narrative highs of some of the other entries, im just going to disregard the stories of these two so far. Im not trying to hate on them, the story just isnt for me. If anyone can clear up this continuity, id greatly appreciate it. Maybe im missing something here, and im glad everyone is enjoying the game and hope they continue to do so. Also it was really awesome how you predicted this to come to be my guy. The reason why i commented *this* here is because i figured the most lore centric zelda minds would congregate around it. Though, ill probably just get roasted for not liking the story at all.

The demise symbolism on ganondorf doesn’t necessarily mean demise is coming back in his original form, it might just emphasize ganondorfs connection to him as his reincarnation
Unless he eventually becomes Demise. They did say Demise conquered time.
History dossent reapeat but the curse forces the repetion
I think the "demise" look is just features of the "demon king"
So of course when Ganondorf becomes the demon king himself, he gets the "demise" features.

I just picked up that, that is because Zelda is a reincarnation of the goddess can't believe o forgot that
The double helix vine shot, the placement of the vines and the camera placement are reminiscent of MANY shots of the master sword sitting in front of the Deku Tree (even in the newest ToTK trailer, just zoomed way in when Link picks it up). Those vines could be the “Divine DNA” of the first Great Deku tree.
The rabbit hole just gets deeper and deeper, Vitamin 😯 😆
This has me thinking about the light*roots* and the tree structure Ganondorf is regenerating from/corrupting with gloom/malice at the end of TotK.
I’m still of the mindset that Hyrule Warriors’ events accidentally merged the timelines. The land itself has all the different landmarks of the other games scrambled around on the map of Hyrule.
There is some wonky convergence going on
Brian David Gilbert got it right in unraveled!
Keep an eye out for a timeline video 😉
Hahaha! I’ll take that 🤗
Hylia was the goddess of light and time 😉
I see some possibilities:
There is an Imprisoning War in the windwaker timeline when hyrule is flooded and then rebuilt elsewhere with Rauru as the new king. that would "explain" how it is an infinite loop with the snake eating itself, with ganondorf being the new Demise.
That would also explain why there is no triforce and why there are towers. It is the timeline with more technology.
There are also koroks in the windwaker timeline, we know that skyward sword happend in the botw timeline because of the forgoten Temple.
The Triforce is in BOTW though.

Two images on the gate of time look familiar to me, the swirl above Din's symbol looks like a zonai swirl while the weird crest to it's right (our pov) looks a bit like the center jewel on ganondorf's headpiece, the usual one, not the new one
I think only the FIRST Zelda (the one in Skyward Sword) is the incarnation of Godess Hylia,
after that lifetime was over, Hylia return to what she was, at least she's so in BoTW and ToTK
cuz everythime Link pray to the Goddess Idol for hearts and stemina, there is always a diagogue
transacting the process, hence it would be rediculous if Link is talking to himself
The statues are very curious indeed. I need to do more research before I can theorize about them
Each statue speaks to you, and they communicate with each other in a TOTK sidequest, suggesting they are seperate from each other.

It is funny how you called *Him* Richard. He does have a Richard face and personality.
Edit: For those that wonder why Skyward Sword's Time Travel does not generate alternate timelines with the split between Destroying the Imprisoned and then Cyclical Demise Curse due to time travel, I postulate that perhaps Skyward Sword did indeed split into new timelines, with BotW and TotK occurring in a separate timeline entirely to the other mainline games. .The problem with that line of thought is that the splitting of the timelines should directly cause the events that happen in each timeline, skyward sword would therefore have two timelines that only differ in how Demise was defeated, one where the curse of Demise lingers on and one where he was defeated before he can place the curse.

Stay tuned. Theories are in the works 😎
Ganon's lack of obvious motivation is only in the english translation, in other languages it's something along the lines of wanting the world to go back to how it used to be and not liking how a godlike being can be so vain as to settle down and rule a kingdom or something like that
@@malkrie1444 appreciate the elaboration here! That’s just super cool 😎

Couldn’t have summarized it better in my most recent video. Excellent work here 😎
Stay tuned for some follow ups!
This is one of the best theory videos I've ever seen. 👏👏👏
Thanks Hondaguy91!
"I would call this event..."
Damn lol. And this was probably before Aonuma name dropped it.
You were right about most things except Demise. Ganondorf became the Demon King, but not Demise specifically. The aesthetic is there though.
Chronologically speaking, Ganondorf becomes the demon king because of Demise, and not despite him
I thInk the unfortunate truth is that nintendo doesn't really care if the timeline works or not. The compared mario to a theatre troupe before I feel like they do the same with zelda.
Man, I love these Zelda lore videos, you got so much right before TOTK even came out. That's some real dedication to the franchise right there.
Thanks Joseph! I love making these videos 🤗
Its honestly insane how on point you were. All the way down to the imprisoning war. Its like you played the game a month early lol. Very impressive
Hand on the Bible I only knew about the artbook leaks
That's because the triforce doesn't even exist in those two games. It makes me wonder if BotW and TotK are a complete reboot or a fourth timeline.
This is so accurate bro it’s crazy 😭
Why has no one mentioned the fierce deity as links deity? Maybe the fierce deity was orginaly hiylias Devine knight, who fell at the hands of demises sword, which then prompted the creation of the master sword, as well as the fierce deities re:encarcnation as link?
Not sure but I like where your head is at 😎
this guy predicted the story of totk before if official release...good job
Thanks 😊
Oral Tradition is a cruel mistress indeed…
I will say this for you to consider:
In the second dragon’s tear memory, Zelda says that the kingdom of Hyrule she warps back to must have been the first kingdom found during the Era of Myth.
I think you make some robust points, but I’ll have to theorize at some point. Your argument is definitely worth considering, so I appreciate you taking the time to share it 🤗
@@wizcatcheslightning there’s a channel called QuestWithAaron that has some well made and researched videos about japanese mistranslation and lost meaning in the Zelda series who I assume is busy delving into Tears of the Kingdom. Worth looking at.

Either you are an absolute god and can predict everything or have insider information. Absolutely insane if you did predict this, amazing work.
That’s a lot of pressure to live up to 😅
But thanks!
Such a well made video man 👍🏻
Thanks 😊
Now that the game is out, I find tge name Richard oddly fitting
Me too actually 🤣
I can’t take credit for that nickname however.

That made editing this vid all day worth it. Thanks Jaay 😎
I was like wow this guy is spot on, then remembered this game was leaked a month before the release date.
Yes that would be cool indeed. Nintendo, give us something tangible here! We NEED some sort of timeline convergence explanation here
*spoilers for totk*
The suggestion that Rauru is the godly figure for Link makes genuine sense now that the game is out and based on knowledge we already know.
@@wizcatcheslightning ooo I will do! I’ve been taking my time with the game so it might take a while but thanks for the advice! 😊
@@ebonyfitzgerald3667 sure thing!
Imprisoning war huh? Your very interesting. I can't tell if you made this up or looked at a game to come up with this. Which one was it?
Secondly, talking about the shift from the peak of copies sold going from 10 million (Twilight Princess) to 30 million (BOTW), or a 200% increase in viewership.
watching this after totk came out and it is scary how accurate your predictions are
Gate of time imagery sits right above the throne in Hyrule Castle. well, a decent percentage of it, at the very least!
The musical notes for certain 😎
Oh and the Triforce
The tear symbol from tears of the kingdom appears on the top of the gate of time, at 17:33
Dude you have to be a prophet, that or you're a secret nintendo employee. Great video 👍
Thanks! And no, just been a fan since 1998 🤣
Godlike vid. I’ve never felt a need to sub so hard before 👍🏾🙏🏾
Much appreciated my dude. Glad you enjoyed it!
Its funny watching this with the game out now.
Bro you should make a video reviewing what you get right in this video
You don’t think that would come off as conceited? 😅
I’m not opposed to it. Just figuring out how to deliver it seems like a challenge
I want to make sure I’m looking at the correct image here 😅
@@wizcatcheslightning
To answer the first question, when Link travels through the gate to the past, the gate opens and projects backward [like the mirror in TP] but the projections all should the same symbol on the teeth and shows a different one wile going Back to the Future.
You nailed this
another possibilities is the theory of the new timeline which comes from spliting the timeline from zelda skyward sword
At what point would this split occur?
@@Littlestar201285 no doubt! There could even been a split if Link were killed in the battle vs Demise
@@wizcatcheslightning if we take it like in OoT, dont that mean there is a Timeline without LInks Hero Soul and Zelda's Souls (Hylia reincarnation)?
I saw everyone talking about how right you were about this but I had no idea you would guess the EXACT name "the imprisoning war" wow
Not sure where you heard that but I’m flattered 😅
Nice video...this looks great 👍
Thanks Anita!
Theory: gate of time 12 symbols perhaps there will be 12 main Zelda games, Theory: Link is the triangle in the triangle because he just makes everything stable again supports everyone with a side quest. This is 100% link!
Zelda’s boarder could be moon and sun because she is the sage of time and the kanji for ‘tomorrow’ in Japanese is 「明日」which is literally sun+moon+sun
I appreciate the trivia here!
i didn’t know Naruto just ripped off Japanese pop folklore lol
oh yeah, totally agree that Zelda is the personification of Hylia; Ganondorf, the personification of Din; and Link, the personification of Farore
You predicted it perfect zelda is the sage of time and light
Thank you Emil 🤗
16:40 The image currently at the top of the gate of time, doesnt that look like the Zonai Swirl? At least just a tad
It does! It looks more geometric, kinda how the Sheikah eye symbol on the time shift stones look
Can we all just time a moment to remember what the sages said in totk now it's out, "THE IMPRISONING WAR"
I'm still slightlly disappointed that TotK didn't try to loop the timeline. It would make it a bit more poetic.
Trying to piece all of this together should be a fun time
It actually kinda did what happened in the past always happened

Oh they didn't, they're just not the focus. See the big three are the creation gods of the world... they created the triforce and all that. But currently we aren't focusing on the triforce in these recent games.

🤣 you’re right! I want to find the other patterns. One of them kinda looks like Groose’s pants pattern
Plague or not, to explain why they are gone *now.*
If the zonai were always around, why didnt we see them in the sky?
(Yes i know hylian constructs fell to the ground and some can be found in botw, like the springs.)
I guess my main issue is, why not draw from the rich well of lore already established to explain constructs above the sky barrier, rather than introducing some new made up race the game constantly tells me i need to care about?
Speaking of:
Where is the triforce?
I loved playing this game, but after the narrative highs of some of the other entries, im just going to disregard the stories of these two so far. Im not trying to hate on them, the story just isnt for me. If anyone can clear up this continuity, id greatly appreciate it. Maybe im missing something here, and im glad everyone is enjoying the game and hope they continue to do so.
Also it was really awesome how you predicted this to come to be my guy. The reason why i commented *this* here is because i figured the most lore centric zelda minds would congregate around it. Though, ill probably just get roasted for not liking the story at all.
THANK YOU!!!! It feels like someone who has never played a Zelda game wrote the story.
