I've been watching retile RUclips channels to learn more about snakes and desensitized myself to them - I've always had an irrational fear of snakes and my fiance loves them, my hope is to get to a point where I will be comfortable with owning one. Your channel has been super helpful in learning about them and this old gem came up in my feed. Are there more Professor T videos?! There need to be.

When you guys get some time, could you shoot a video on tips for heating exo-terra style cages. I see a bunch in your videos and can’t find any in your channel. Thank you very much in advance. I have never once considered the whole idea of animals being stressed when going from tubs to tanks or different setups in general. Definitely something to keep in mind if someone emails me that their new baby hog won't eat.

Unfortunately my hand was forced on this issue my baby ball python had a big enclosure ready for when he reached adulthood but the heating went out and I had to put him into the bigger enclosure with a bunch of places to hide and he has been eating like an angel since

I would love to see Kevin do an instructional video on how to set up an aquarium/terrarium properly for Ball Pythons for the naysayers out there. Proper substrate, proper hide/s, proper decor if warranted, lighting if warranted etc. KEVIN>>>DO THIS! LOL
I kind of made the mistake by having a little bit of a large enclosure but he has plenty of places to hide and I’m constantly checking the humidity and he seems to be warming up to me more and more but idk what else I would need to do

One very important thing they mentioned. “If I don’t fill it up”. Snakes can be comfortably kept in larger spaces if the space is not open and empty. My personal guideline is the enclosure being as long as the snake or just a little longer.
Thought that was a good point. You can go large so long as it’s not OPEN spaces and has places to tuck away. My two bps are in very large enclosures and doing brilliantly because it’s filled with clutter.
He mentions that big tank will only work if you use a ton of furniture, so I´d say it´s covered.
Mieke Kuppen agreed. I was agreeing with his statement and saying that it’s an important distinction to make. large and open enclosures cause stress. Large but cluttered enclosures do not.
Is that brumation chamber a functional fridge?
Reptile Nexus It’s set on a thermostat so it’s not like a regular fridge.
But if you took it off a thermostat, it would be a regular fridge right? I only ask because I have had the idea of using a fridge on a thermostat to cool my hogs, but heard that a fridge could dry the animals out too much. Obviously that is not true if you guys are using one. Thanks in advance.

They are! But we avoid sticking anything through them as he's worried his ears will tear and he is quite proud of them!

Very educational kevin. i just love when i get shit from idiots who say my tubs are way too small and how i should keep my snakes in 20 gallon aquariums with trees and what not lol. I especially love it when the person telling me this has only owned snakes for 2 or less years or doesnt own snakes at all.
