- Though we can't save every single animal that comes through our door, we genuinely try to. Luckily, 2/3 animals in this video made it! Please let us know what you think, and let me know what you think of the video! Thank you!

This is the kinda shit that made me want to become a NERD. I cant tell you how many times I've brought an animal to my vet and told her what was wrong and what i needed and she was surprised i was right. I love these educational videos
We are glad you like em Ray!! Thanks for watching.
I had no idea Kevin was the reason for the discovery of snake fungal disease, that's so cool! I feel bad for the snake, obviously, but it could not have been found by a better person. So glad it spent its last days with Kevin.
Agree!
i agree with that last sentence. couldn't have been brought to a better person to give it either a fighting chance or a dignified sendoff with as little suffering as possible.
Kevin always takes time to try and better the world around him. Rescuing animals does not always end well, but that doesn’t mean you stop trying. Always happy to see that Kevin at least tries to save them.
My husband would absolutely love to help you with that reef tank setup! He's been in the reef-keeping hobby for like 18 years now!
I’ll be working directly with a pretty big company, but feel free to offer pointers’
Kevin always does his very best to help to help animals in need. He helps when vets will not bother. I love what he does. Every procedure shown is appreciated. I hope there will be a treatment for curing the fungal infection so snakes do not have to suffer and die.
Vets have to study reptiles separately though.
I'd love to see your reef tank build, Andy. You're a part of NERD now and I enjoy seeing you in the videos too.
Thanks for the update on the snakes, even if the snake didn't make it, I like to see the updates and how Kevin cares for these unfortunate animals. It's crazy how long it took for people to believe this fungal infection is real. It's awesome that you got to save that snake that got shot long enough for her to have her babies. I rescused a spider that was missing 3 legs on one side. She couldn't hunt well at all. She ended up passing shortly after she had her babies. It was surprising because she was eating fine in captivity. I'm glad I was able to ease the rest of her life and I love seeing Kevin do that for so many animals too. It's rough when they don't make it but definitely worth trying to save them.
Idk I feel that it’s a great idea for a reef build series but don’t think it should be on the NERD channel specially if it isn’t Kevin doing the build. Definitely think Andy should do that series on his own channel that’s just my opinion just don’t think it’s appropriate. Wish you all the best and hope you have a great day 🙋♂️✌️
Kevin does the absolute best for every ill or injured animal who comes through the door,
Of course!!
Stoked we're getting videos again! I for one think being referred to NERDS is great, could be a new intro for all the videos, expand the community etc..
I always appreciate seeing updates on the snakes, even if the updates aren't necessarily positive. It's so helpful to learn!
Can you imagine if every human was like Kevin. The animal kingdom would be a happy safe place to be ❤
My favorite part was learning about snake fungal disease. Really fascinating information and important for reptile keepers to be aware of!
I would love to get a deep dive series into each reptile disease keepers could encounter, their history, statistics, treatments, etc…
I think reptile health videos are few and far between and would be a great niche to feature for us NERDS!
The fungus sounds scary. How easy would that be to get into a captive collection and take it out? And on the ones that was infected for the test was there a fix or a way to cure them ? Awesome video. I really love stuff like this, medical videos etc and would love to be as good / confident as Kevin on things like that.
I’ll have to ask Kevin about this, I’m honestly not 100% sure. We can make a video about it
@@NewEnglandReptileplease do. Everything Kevin does is fascinating and you’re doing an excellent job of sharing it with us, you guys are amazing. And thank you on behalf of the animals as well. Keep ‘em coming!
We had a ball Python that had “shed stuck” on the belly from a reptile show, she gradually she’d it but it got worse and developed blisters. We kept her in a rack with back heat, soaked and clean paper daily. She eventually passed, then others in the rack showed similar. A couple of those passed and a couple survived, even though we took PPE precautions from the start. Vets didn’t know what it could have been. Is that kind of how this fungus works? Def look forward to that video.
Kevin IS the neurodivergents, metal patron saint for animals large and small!!!! Because when is comes to animals his heart is intention are golden and heart pure. I'am so glad that the face snake is doing so much better! and same for that poor little male snake, OUCH! As for the fungal snake, we do what we can , we try our best to to comfort, to improve their health, but some animals are brought in too late, or far too sick and as much as we want to save every animal, as much as we try to fight for them, as much as it breaks our hearts, it just their time...some animals show us it's their time- and we should to them the service to listen but not let them go alone as we can be there for them and make sure it is smooth and as painlessas possible and other will go on their own hopefully quietly in their sleep. Either way is never easy but it is part of life for everything and person....we all must cross over at some point ...we are all of the earth and we all go back to the earth....
Thank you,Kevin for Caring so much for the animals.
I would love to hear more on Snake Fungal Disease. It surprises me theres no anti-fungal treatment regimen that could work? Thanks for everything you do Kevin.
Would love to see the aquarium vids! When I started watching NERD a few years ago, I loved that there were so many different characters around. Kevin is a special person with incredible knowledge, but seeing the colleages was great, too. Maybe you can take one of these spots! =)
I am now the sole filmed/editor/ and will be in a bunch of upcoming videos!
Thank you for the updates!! Congratulations Kevin on your discovery! That's impressive and a huge gift to wildlife and Nature.
Love the way the channel is going and I watch for Kevin's rescues and love seeing him try his best to heal. I can't stand animal suffering and always rescue myself. Even if it doesn't always end how we hope, it's the try and that the animal was not left to suffer. The paper sounds really interesting!
The passion Kevin has is insane. He makes you want to be better for animals. Seeing Kevin help really makes me want to help all animals
Very interesting on the SFD, because I was under the impression that it was always a death sentence and that it's highly contagious.
Amazing job as always Kevin. We can't win them all unfortunately and my heart reality goes out to the losses, but you have saved SO many animals that honestly it's a massive net win.
Without your help, the numbers of animals saved alone would have been 2/3 less than with. We humans, and our planet's beloved animals love you!❤
What a sweet mentor to have I would love to check out that place and meet some people that’s been in this as long as Kevin has! that’s awesome. Good content.
Thank you! Kev is a pretty cool dude!
I learn something every time. Interested to see what treatment options become available. Thanks for the updates!
Yeah I'm a pimple popper fan. I watch it to help me sleep. I personally find getting something cleaned out all in one go super satisfying be it pimple contents, paint in a bucket, a huge chunk of snow, pealing of a protective layer, even things like rug cleaning and window squidgeeing calms my anxiety. I'm a fan of the really big blackheads (DPoWs) and ones that look kinda like honey pots that can come out just by pulling them out with a needle without piercing the skin at all.
Rug cleaning is absolutely awesome
I love the videos about helping the animals who are sick! It is really helpful for me since there aren't any reptile vets anywhere near me 🙏 And I would love to see the reef tank build!!!
YES...on the reef tank! I'm not a fishkeeper, but I do love saltwater habitats and all of the cool creatures that live there! Cant wait!
Always interesting❤❤❤ would love to see the tank set up😁
Kevin, you’re a rockstar! It’s awesome you discovered the fungus. I hope in the future there will be a proper and close to 100% treatment and cure. As for the full out reef, yes please. It’s def a challenging hobby for sure. I had a 90 gallon mixed reef and hurricane Ida destroyed it. I have yet to rebuild it. The bigger the system, the easier it is to take care of.
I love water snakes. Poor girl 💔 but thank you for trying to help her ❤ I appreciate what you do to rescue these animals
I'd love to see a reef build!
First off... absolutely wasn't to see a full on reef tank!! Glad the first two snake are well now. Is dad for the last one though but yes can see Kevin was definitely trying to help it out. Think it was grateful simply for the water soak/drink. Any way to make an animal even slightly more comfortable is a lovely gesture.
Thank you for another great video. Keep them coming. I especially love your reptile rescue medical knowledge videos
Was the first snake Sylvester? If you do an update on these animals or another treatment video, consider providing "before" pictures or videos of each one. Thank you for the interesting video.
I tried that, unfortunately I couldn’t get the old videos to download for some reason!!
I love these videos, Kevin is an inspiration. I love the direction the channels taken too.
Love to hear it! Thank you’
Unfortunately in life and nature you win some you lose some. It's the spirit of trying everything you can that is important here with the suffering wild ones. Kevin's empathy with any living creature drives him to do everything in his power to save them when they cross his path. For that alone he deserves awards. I cannot express fully how admirable I am of him as a human. Kevin you are bloody amazing!
Let's see the reef build!! Excited for that.
Me too!!
Thanks for the updates. Always good to hear what happened. Sorry that one snake didn't make it but I know Kevin did his best.❤❤❤❤
lets see this reef tank! i personally would find it interesting to see more stuff be covered on the channel in short bursts.
That would be an absolutely amazing series. I would probably watch it more than once. Great idea. Can't wait love to see it. Hope you get a sponsor.
Gotta say Im loving the new content. Thanks Andy
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching!
sad and happy video but that Kevin tries is amazing. Would love to see a fish tank video
I would love to see the reef tank! I’ve been in the fishkeeping hobby for a while now and seeing the whole vision come together is always awesome!
100% agree, especially with as crazy as I want to go. There I’ll be some insane corals and fish.
LOVE the veterinary procedurals!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Great updates and video. Kevin you are amazing.
Reef tank uh yes please
Kevin is such a sensitive, beautiful soul. You can feel the love he has for all living things. Keep the educational videos coming!
Thank you! Will do!
Hell yes, build that reef tank brotha!!!
That snake with the fungal disease looked so sad😢 when she started drinking... she didn't stop. Kevin I have no words to describe how grateful I am for your ability to diagnose and treat snakes BETTER THAN MANY EXOTIC VETS! You made those Professional Docs listen to you and you never gave up!
It's really terrible. Thankfully it appears to have been endemic in the United States for an extremely long time and there's something else that allows it to get a grip and kill animals. It can be extremely contagious but it's also weirdly not as common as it should be for some of its attributes which means there's probably some elements to it that we don't understand yet. What we do know is that the rate of active infection is increasing as the temperatures increase. It's somewhat comparable to valley fever in dogs and humans. Back when it was assumed that snakes were not social animals It made more sense at how slowly it spread but now that we have realized many of the affected species are extremely social and have a lot of physical contact it's become a bit of a mystery again. My guess is that there's other microbes that keep it in check or something along those lines but it could be as simple as the animal's ability to thermal regulate and the early stages of infection or a comorbidity where they have to be colonized by the fungus and something else we haven't identified yet at the same time. Kevin getting it on the books was the first step in an incredible milestone but there's so much left to do to understand it.
I would love the reef tank series
Thanks for the class Mr. Kevin!!
I have a 10 gallon aquarium, as well as a bunch of reptiles and arachnids. I'm down for watching an aquarium build.
Heck yeah!
Love that you care so much for life ❤
Can't join, but thank you for sharing both sides of rescue.
Poor thing! At least she spent her last little bit of time in Ophidean luxury, hydrated, and treated as much as possible for her comfort. The topical most likely helped what i can only imagine was a maddening itch of the scaly pelt.
YES! Do the tank!
Thank you for saving these babies!!!❤
That would be awesome! We just got into fish more seriously this last year.
I love watching all the videos, I have someone that does fish and it's learning a lot like it is reptiles.
I'm learning a lot more about snakes, having two of my own.
Andy so happy you're back a great video 😊
Please put the name of the fungal disease so I can learn more about it. Thank you!!
Ophidiomyces ophiodiicola
Nice work Kevin, shame the water snake didn't make it. The reef tank series would be great.
Thank you for such an interesting video..
I would absolutely love to see you build a reef tank
Hoping to make it happen soon!
I would love more educational videos with Kevin but DEFINITELY the reef tank!
Also, could you link the paper he mentioned please? I would love to read it!
Good work!
Appreciate that!
Kevin and all you guys are awesome!
I'll watch the set-up series of the Reef Tank
I’d personally love to watch you build a big reef tank. Reef tanks are incredibly difficult to maintain.
That's the plan!
Yes would love to see the coral tank
Yes would love a reef tank video.
A reef tank series would be awesome!
Would love to see a saltwater setup series!!
I think speak for everyone here. Build the reef build the reef tank aquarium

❤❤❤
Have I had a stroke?! Where do I become a channel member??? I cannot find it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
My vote is YES YES YES to the Reef tank!! I oonly ask for one thing. Please get an octopus or two🐙...I know they are very difficult to manage.... first hand knowledge speaking. But they are worth it.
Maybe i missed it, but did sylvester thé yellow boa with a swollen face make it? 😢
I’m pretty sure my snake has scale rot on its belly, looking for help, cleaning it’s tank thoroughly but not sure what else to do
Is it known why the fungal disease becoming more of an issue? Is it environmental like because snakes in the wild aren’t getting enough hydration to fully shed?
Or is it something introduced?
But how did the treatment to the longicauda look? What exactly did he do!!?? I have a snake with a similar problem and I need to know
REEF REEF REEF❤
Wooooop!
I don't like to be too blunt but I do enjoy you much more than Donnie. I'll just leave it at that.
Where is Sylvester my beloved
What happened to Donny? I miss him
Anyway we could make a video re seizures in snakes? Especially balls? Not much information on the subject
