- My wood stove has started to smoke a lot and it needs to be fixed, we will fix it together in this video. This cleaning applies to all wood stoves.
To clean your chimney and stove and eliminate smoke, follow these steps:
Disconnect and remove the stovepipe from the chimney.
Clean the stovepipe with a stiff brush.
Check the chimney from the roof for any blockages and remove them.
Vacuum the chimney to remove soot and creosote.
Reinstall the stovepipe and check for a good draft.
Clean the inside of the stove with a stove cleaner and brush.
Remove any debris or ash from the stove.
Reinstall stove grates and glass.
Check stove seals and replace them if needed.
Remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety precautions. It may also be necessary to hire a professional chimney sweeper to clean the chimney if there is excessive build-up.

Hopefully this will help you get some electricity back! Strong it and keep up the good work. Love your videos
Thank you very much for the super thanks, yes, it will help a lot. I just found out that the 200e would be repaired, it is more than half the price of a new one. This means that I will buy a new inverter. Thank you very much 🙂
The black ashes are called soot. Pronounced sut in most English dialects.
Love your cats Robert! 😀
Thank you Erik 😺🙂
Great entertaining video as always Rob! Take care man!
Thank you for visiting 👍🙂
There was a very interesting comment below by chillipesto that perhaps the inverter could have cumulatively sucked up enough soot from the air inside the cabin to short out somewhere.
Looking at the soot deposit in the corner of your roof above the stove over the last 6 months, perhaps it might be time to engineer a more effective chimney
Good job on the stove cleaning!!! Whoot Whoot Hope you get the Solar fixed quickly too.
I hope so too! Thank you Chandra 😺🙂
Good luck on fixing your solar inverter - hopefully the fix is not expensive.
I hope so too 👍🙂
Hey Robert, ooh not a great day for you, but at least you got your heat an cooker back. Hope you can sort your solar panel get your electricity back. 😯😯
I took it to the service, I will see what can be done, thanks Petrina 👍🙂
I guess I need to clean my chimney.
I clean two to three times a winter, that's the only way I don't have problems with smoke 👍🙂
wow...that's alot of build up (soot) in such a short amount of time. We nned to get you a shop vac. They have long attatchments that clean wood stoves out great.
Yes, it really is a lot, thank you Teresa 🙂
Add a 36 inche length to you chimney height and it should pull more of a draw preventing smoke
I will build a brand new chimney, thanks 👍🙂
I wonder if the soot dust (carbon) was sucked in via the inverter fan! It's highly conductive and can create short circuits.
Interesting, it's a possibility
Hope you get power back quickly
Yes, me too 👍🙂
You definitely need an external clean out in your chimney. that would keep the mess outside. The black ash is called Soot, pronounced like Foot.
Yes, it will be when I build the new chimney. Thanks Will 👍🙂
You need to burn hardwood. Burning soft woods like pine contribute to excessive buildup of soot & creosote. In places that have chimneys, burn hardwoods. In open outdoor fires it is acceptable to burn soft woods. Also, some soft wood will make your food taste bad because of the resin in the wood.
Can you walk through the forest near you & get dead fall wood? That might be a good way to get free hardwood to burn.
that's the only way I saved some money, which I will now be able to invest in the house. I know that hardwood is perfect, but this year due to the problems in the world, hardwood was too expensive. No, I can't go into my neighbor's forest, I hope to have my own forest one day.
Thanks 👍🙂
Creosote is the name of the build up in the chimney.
Thanks 👍

si 🙂😺
Deshalb sind die Schornsteine in Deutschland mit einer Rußkammer gebaut. Aber alles Gut. Mit Staubsauger gehts besser.
Yes, chimneys here have doors to clean from the outside, but not old houses like this one
Thats a lot of creosote! You risk getting a chimney fire. You should get a Chimney Brush that attaches to a cordless drill. I have one that goes 30 feet.
Ok, thank you 👍👍
The "black ashes" are called "soot"
Ok, thanks 👍🙂
