  • The best wood for building a camper van is poplar. I use 18mm poplar boards, which are very light. The camper van is built so that I take it apart in 15 minutes and then use it to transport things for building my house. DIY camper van from start to finish.

Do you know paulownia veneer? Is known as aluminium wood for its light weight. Water and fire resistant too

Lovely project! What is the thickness of the wood you used for the furniture? Also, in your opinion, is adding some glue on the connecting surfaces together with screws an unnecessary overdo to connect furniture elements (even for a bed or a bench which are usually loaded with weight pressure)?

As usual, fascinating to see your high level of craftsmanship and ingenuity. It looks quite comfortable and convenient. But, I am concerned because you provide no insulation. People here in the USA die every year from sleeping in their camper/van/car, not realising that even seemingly mild autumn temperatures can dip into the fatal range (10 degrees celsius, or even warmer if it's raining). I would suggest rigging thermal panels for the windows (the largest area of heat loss) and stuffing insulation behind the interior door and side panels. That way, it extends your camping season and you won't get caught by an unseasonable cold snap.

This is my work van, the furniture goes in and out in 15 minutes. It is intended for free time at the end of the weekend.
Yes, it would be perfect if it had insulation, probably one day if there is some time. Thank you Linda 🙂

If you’re living in it insulation is important- though I’ve done a couple years without it, you need a log burner.
As a camper van that transforms quickly, this is great! Maybe you could magnetise some wool blankets to the frame quite quickly? It does make a big difference to comfort having insulation. Otherwise a diesel heater drains your battery super quickly to start: which is okay if you have a leisure battery and a split charge relay and you’re driving often.

Hi Robert, I just want to make a comment without offending. Are you going to keep repeating videos? It is to know if I have to unsubscribe. You have several videos repeating content, those of us who have been following you for a long time have already seen this. I really liked your videos, but the latest is always to see more of the same. I really hope it's temporary and I have fun watching your content again. Regards my friend, I hope the comment doesn't make you feel bad, I'm just trying to give my opinion with what I think would improve your channel.

Don't worry, new videos are coming, it all depends on how much money I have because I have to buy materials for every repair. I have two years of work in this house for sure. I have to fix the foundations, I even have to raise the roof to get two rooms upstairs... But it all depends on the money, how fast it will go. Thank you 🙂
