Compliance
We just need your compliance
You will feel no pain anymore
And no more defiance
We just need your compliance
Just give us your compliance
We won’t let you feel lost anymore
No more self-reliance
Fall into line, you will do as you’re told
No choice fatigue, your blood is running cold
We lose control, the world will fall apart
Love of your life, we’ll mend your broken heart
Life lived in fear, you need protection
You’re all alone, too much rejection
We have what you need, just reach out and touch
We can save you
We just need your compliance
We just need your compliance
You will feel no pain anymore
No more defiance
Just give us your compliance
Cover your tracks, we know what’s best for you
You’ve bitten off, much more than you can chew
You’re running scared, you’ll run into our arms
Come join our clique, we’ll keep you safe from harm
Our toy soldier, you’ll do the dirty work
Stay loyal to us, we’ll take away the hurt
We have what you need, just reach out and touch
We can save you
Just give us your compliance
We just need your compliance
You will feel no pain anymore
No more defiance
Just give us your compliance

This is the reason I love this band! Each album doesn't sound like the last plus they put a variety of sounds in each album. One of the reasons I have adored Muse for so long and will continue to do so!
Wtf are you talking about?,this song its the pure generic poppy sound from simulation theory

Absolutely. Black holes, Resistance and 2nd Law was kinda like the golden age that everything led to. Drones was a little downfall for me but now they're back, different. And it's good!

YES! I totally got the Daft Punk vibe.
The vibe reminds me robot rock
I wish the bass was little louder on the mix, it is so good
Yeah bitta daft punk, but also a bit of Justice in there and to me the mid section sounds a bit like infected mushroom
Bassline sounds like Tame Impala tbh
Muse never disappointed me. I love how they do what they want, mix genres and instruments, with electronica, and next you see its hard rock. This is how musicians should be - doing what they want and fuck what anyone think honestly

Me too! I had the chance to see them in 2023 It was absolutely fabulous 🤯
This is probably one of the most rhythmic MUSE tracks I've heard in quite a bit. And with Bellamy's vocals being on center stage (unlike Won't Stand Down with the amount of compression and effects used on them, making them somewhat blend with the music), the intense bassline, and the Daft Punk style of mixing, this track is absolutely not what I expected from the song at first, but I know just by listening to the first that it's MUSE nonetheless. They can switch styles, but their genre will always be their own.
Knight rider riff? Or am i the only one?
Gives some serious 2nd law vibes with the vocode and how rhythmical it is
I thought Pet Shop Boys rather than Daft Punk.
@@ptr_does_music7042 Oh definitely! Not to bring a promo into this, but I reviewed it in a first reaction on my channel if you wanna check it out. One of the first things I compared it to was 2nd Law. I love that album, and the synthy sound along with the rhythmic vocals make the connection very clear.
Yes!!!! 👍👌
This song and "Uprising" totally should've come out at the same time. Brilliant.
Muse, thank you for all of your wonderful music.
One of the most terrifyingly accurate depictions of how government operates today. The lyrics of course, but also the upbeat synth beat giving the impression of a happy, carefree atmosphere that masks the true meaning of what is being asked here (giving total obedience/compliance willingly).
Muse always ahead. In the video they show what happens if someone burns.
The synth riffage you talk about is copied from The Euro Dance Music of the 90s. I Can tell i was listening to Haddaway, Dr Alban & Masterboy at the time and it is totally reminiscent of their stuff.
Well they did have a song called MK Ultra, Muse have been trying to help wake up the population for years!! Resistance! Uprising!
"today" - Not a modern thing at all. Was even a thing back in the middle ages already.
@@robertshackleton5830 lmao
Muse being Muse, releasing a single that divides the fandom that may will either grow or shrink on one side or the other. Should be interesting to see how this song ages
It's amazing seeing Matt's transition in his vocal delivery over the years. I was NOT expecting the poppiness of the song with all the teasers but I like it.
The words are deep and terrifying. Describing our depressive world. But somehow it goes perfect with this exciting and active beat. What an amazing mix. I’m dancing with tears in my eyes.
Dancing With Tears in Your Eyes is actually a song by Ultravox - written in the 80s about possible nuclear war. Actually a really good song.
Brave New World....
Indeed.. This is one of Muse's Darkest songs I've heard. The music helps us remember the Message; and scares the ever-loving crap out of me. But to pull up a classic quote from "American Bandstand":
(any of a number of teens): "It has a good beat, and it's great to dance to"
I love Muse more and more. One of the few bands that knows what's going on and the balls to say it
Shame they get... so repetitive
i think that unless more sheeple are to finally wake up to the reality around them, those messages won't cease to be relenvant and consequently drilled on by artists. The potential of their positive influence is doing more then i can say i have and at least they are planting the right seeds. I believe change/evolution can happen, but it has to sail first on waves of provocative thoughts and unconforming ideas
and yet they complied to all the mandates to be able to travel around the world when those of us that didn't comply stayed put and spoke out and lost jobs, businesses etc total joke and piss take
@Chazz cheese So, so true. Sad how so many bands are sleepwalking these days. It never used to be that way. I heard this for the first time this morning & I'm relieved to hear it -0 at last! Thank God for Matt Bellamy!
That bastard Klaus probably hated this song. May he and his Great Reset go to hell.
Still absolutely terrifyingly accurate lyrics
I love how much money they invest in the production of everything they do. Another cool looking video. They clearly care and are passionate about what they do. Love Muse
bullshit, they make it for very little money
I love how you think how much money they spend on production indicates how much they “care”. “Cool” really is a disease…
Music videos used to be short movies, but these days it's softcore adult videos.
This likely didn't cost 1/10 of what you think it did

They damn near destroyed all small businesses with their little covid blaspheme while pretty much every billion dollar corporation was allowed to stay open & not follow the same guidelines as small business owners faced forcing them to shut down or be stripped of their licenses. Now gas prices and inflation are forcing already struggling middle to low income Americans to spend half their paychecks on gas, groceries & ever rising utility prices leaving nothing left other than what is needed to maintain shelter & sustenance. They have crippled the American people while Lining their pockets with gold. The time is near for their reign to end and their failing system to crumble. FYI:
In an interview with NME in June of 2022, commenting about some statements that the song's about being anti-vaxx, Matt said "It’s an unfortunate coincidence. I could have written that song in 2008 or 2005."
I feel bad for not keeping up with Muse the last 10 years or so (I loved the Second Law), this is brilliant. It's like Muse taking on Ultravox's sound and writing about the current state of politics when almost everyone else is too afraid to speak up. Amazing.

I agree but im pretty sure that's not true
I Love Muse and there Videos and Show too. But I have to disagree. don't forget Rammstein...
Now that the album is out, this still remains one of the best tracks on it. Slaps!!!
I love how this song is musically so different from Won't stand down, not only because it shows the diversity of what Muse can do, but because I think it is used delibaretely to convey two opposite feelings :
Won't stand down is from the point of view of the oppressed, it's about fighting back, realising that's you've been "used for too long". It wants you to revolt, to be angry. Therefore it's heavier, the bass line just hits you in the guts. You hear it and you love it immediatly because you feel like you've really experienced something.
Compliance, on the contrary, is "sung" by the oppressor. See how the lyrics are negative, even though the music is catchy and light ? It wants you to dance, to be happy, to sing the song until you've learned the lesson, until you've become compliant. It's repetitive, so you can remember the lines without realising it. How many people have said in the comments that they were disappointed the first time they heard the song, but now they're addicted to it ? I feel like that's the point.
WSD makes you feel like you've awaken and you can't go back. Compliance makes you feel like you can go over and over again so you never move forward. It tells you that "you will feel no pain anymore", but only because it anesthetizes you with happy feelings, a bit like in Huxley's Brave New World.
So to the people who don't understand why the two songs are so different and who feel "betrayed" because they expected something more like WSD, remember : Muse always tell stories in their albums. We've only heard two chapters of this one !
Very interesting interpretation
Exactly
you need to go to the top! Very good observations, couldnt agree more!!
But who's being blown up in the car? The oppressor? Or is the compliance also being sung by the so called liberator?
THIS! FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS!
This is clearly the first approach of the narcissistic who is selling you promises, interesting how in the song the lyrics talks about what the victim doesn't have but wishes, the antagonist knows that the victim is depressed and searching for meaning, to scale this depression the antagonist makes the victim to remember the emptiness to makes it suffer even more till the point the only way to find is accept the compliance
Love the creative line they did with the masks, also featured in the first new clip "Won't stand down". Musically, this is more pop/electronic compared to the metal/rock version of "Won't stand down", but that is what I always like with MUSE, that great diversity in their songs and music. Can't wait for their whole album to come out and see them live again.

It’s either “oh it’s bad” or “oh it’s ok” but they don’t pay attention to the messages you’re trying to send through your music. If everyone did, we’d be better. So I really appreciate your music in all sound, video and message together, it keeps me alive!! It reminds me to keep trying and keep fighting this system we’re under. Thank you so much for your music!
totally agree
Ikr.. I’ve been a little mad recently because all the “metal” RUclipsrs are reacting to won’t stand down like muse has never done anything innovative sense origin of symmetry.. meanwhile I’m just sitting back eating a infinite course meal being surprised that all the different styles that their bringing to me have all tasted good haha
@@dinotech3416 People who listen to metal usually only listen to metal. They immediately hate anything that isn't remotely heavy or basically anything that isn't metal
The messaging and warnings are scriptures. I go very deep with Muse, it's not a love, but obsession, a connection to both the earth and beyond.
It's the first thing I listen to in any song... what's the message in the lyrics connected to the situation we're all in... and Muse is one of the best bands in telling what's going on in their songs..
I liked won't stand down better, but the Bassline on this one is freaking insane
Drums too
The music is great as always, it’s the lyrics and how they’re sang that I’m not a fan of in these latest songs, too ‘poppy’
@@fatbroccoli8 Agree - lyrics on this track is cheap.
ruclips.net/video/UyTLzUBDzYY/видео.html
gotta hear this one :) !!!!!!!!!
The song is a narrative. It's supposed to sound happy, poppy, and make you smile without really listening to the lyrics. So that they can seem like they're saying good things when really trying to control you. I can't wait to see what the whole album brings. This is only one part!
muse is something different , that's why i love them so much. how is it that they can sing and make songs about my everyday and everything going on in the world? they hit every mood all the time for me! we love you muse !! fan here since 99!! i knew this team would be something special .
Thank You Muse, you heal me once again.
This song sounds like it should have been on Simulation Theory. It's got those stand out synth sounds which was the main instrument for that album.
Their probably heaviest and best album Absolution has piano as a main instrument ,still kicks ass all these years
This album is going to be a compilation of "the best of muse", so every song will be a different genre. (Kill or be Killed will be a prog song i.e.)
Totally agree!
I was thinking Simulation Theory crossed with Resistance
Scaringly powerful lyrics, visuals and song. I love the bits that remind me of knight rider and daft punk.
A song with such a crisp, clear message. If only everyone would listen. Muse never disappoints!
absolutely right mate !!!!
Fails to disappoint? You mean never disappoints? Haha, Anyway I didn’t like the song really that much
@@mananchaturvedi6173 haha and won’t stand down sounds nothing like from Assassin
Good rhythm with a mean message makes you end up accepting it as great, lol.
Good to see the Muse are still getting it and trying to wake people up. For me the world would be a lonely place without Muse.
If modern Muse were a literary genre they'd be shittily written young adult dystopia fiction
I could watch this over and over again and would be never tired of it... I love all Muse videos. This song is another master piece.
Heard the full song on Reddit and it is ridiculously, painfully addictive. Muse are the masters of songs that grow on you, surely.
It's hilarious. Yesterday I heard the leak and I was deeply disappointed. After 4 or 5 listens it's now stuck in my head. It's kind of a guilty pleasure and obviously one of their worst numbers but man 🤣
I bought the Simulation Theory CD on a whim not knowing anything about Muse, now I'm here watching the premiere of one of their songs absolutely loving what they've got, so your 110% correct
Has been stuck in my head for 2 days now, and I don't want it to go away. On constant repeat.
@@UNSCPILOT I sincerely hope thst you have listened to their previous stuff though, Sim Theory is easily their worst album (not bad, some tracks are simply awesome like algorithm, dark side and blockades- even something human is a catchy qnd heartwarming track, kinda unique in muse's repertoire), if you haven't please listen to Origin of Symmetry (both versions, the original issue and the 20th anniversary remix), Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations. The Resistance too.
Simulation Theory is my favourite since Absolution, by a considerable margin.
Such a good song. Luckily got to see it performed live at Rock Am Ring this year and my face actually appears in the live stream of their whole concert. Best memory ever
this is literally the best thing i ever heard
This band is usually not well know among 12 yr olds, but Muse songs bring me so much joy
Man, this song really shines with headphones... so many intricate sounds that get lost on the radio. I played this song in my car and thought it was kinda meh, but boy has that changed now
Totally agree. The sounds just explode!
It does shine with headphones. Headphones that are playing something else so you can’t hear this nonsense.

I'm tempted to put this whole video in reverse just to see what happens (awesome song btw)
Muse is the only band that criticises imposition of the those who think they own the world and it gives me a hope for the future
unlike, for example, Rage On Behalf of the Machine
@@raimeihakke1020 Rage on the behalf of the machine 😅 really good, im stealing that
My respect for this band just increased so much. Was almost giving up on any band I had known from before.

If you like deep and free thinking bands like Muse try Clan of Xymox(been making music since the 80s). Their recent album is all about the direction the world Is going.
@@dystopian2153 thanks for the tip!
I know your pain! Muse just opened the floodgates though. I saw that MIA is also getting critical, at least on Twitter. Thank God.
Went to your concert knowing only 4 songs but after the concert couldn't stop getting your songs out of my head!! Love you guys!!
this song is just "Congratulations! You are being rescued. Please do not resist." the song
We need Muse more than ever!…. It’s not just fantastic music 🎶 it’s prophetic ❤😊
The lyrics really stroke a nerve for me in the current situation. People of the certain country must understand the cost of their compliance and open their eyes, show defiance to the system lulling their minds into the sense of false safety and righteousness. Thank you Muse, as always you do the great job creating strong and effective compositions. With love from Ukraine
Like from Ukraine! We will fight to the end!
Hope you're doing well! Praying that your country finds peace soon 🙏
Our hearts are with you all over Europe. I hope you will be better soon!

@@timjanssen4204 Thank you for support. We will survive this and the aggressor will never have our compliance
Matt’s voice is everything ❤️
Damn this is so good.
If you put your hand on a flame, you need to feel pain to avoid destroying yourself. Being numb doesn't protect you from destruction.
Glad anti government music is making a comeback, and of course Muse gonna kill it.
a bit funny because this one sounds like "pro" the rulers, the Won't Stand Down is the one that feels more anti government, this one sounds like it was sung by *the* government: "We just need your compliance, you will feel no pain anymore"
maybe it's more sarcastic
Muse's been doing it for 15 years now.
@@jier9904 Yeah that's why i almost hate it but as Rizky said it it might be sarcastic and i hope they come up with something like Uprising again!
@@jier9904 it is highly doubtful this is pro government if you know matt's background for years and when he had his awakening. This is definitely a critique on global government control and their overarching plan for the populice.
this is very beautiful and a very good song at the same time, I think it's very nostalgic and very modern at the same time. I love it.
This sounds like a song that would be sung by a comedy villain in some strange 80s musical as like their villain introduction song.
That’s not an insult; the song is great. It just has that vibe to it.
rick and morty citadel montage
Guess they’ll keep the 80’s feel like their last album. Not complaining I love it so far.

we need more artists like muse. real eyes, realize, real lies. 2023 greater reset on.
Another Muse song, another cool job by Christopher Wolstenholme playing that cool bassline. He's the coolest among the cools!!
Went to see Muse just once ever, in Brisbane doing the tour promoting 'black holes'. Wolstenholme is a complete driving force, like the engine in a perfectly tuned Maserati.
@@DS-qu2rs I like that Maserati part LOL I can only imagine since I've never seen their live show, only watched their live videos and simply hypnotized by him.

This song deserves more people recognition !!
That bassline is a serious damage in this synth-pop-catchy tune. Chris is nuts!
Hope there are more "Won't Stand Down"-like tracks in the new album.
Yes Muse !! the world of compliance is here with those government who only want that : "compliance ". No liberty, no right just compliance. You are so good at commenting the actual world with your song.
Thank you !! Finally what I was looking for...
Exatamente irmão .
FYI:
In an interview with NME in June of 2022, commenting about some statements that the song's about being anti-vaxx, Matt said "It’s an unfortunate coincidence. I could have written that song in 2008 or 2005."

What the hell.
I remember when simulation theory came out and I didn't take it seriously. About a year ago I went back and realized how great it actually was. Going into this album with an open mind and not wanting old Muse is very exciting, they make the best pop music, and that's an amazing feat. Especially since they have the same anti authority themes 💪
What old Muse? Like, I feel there are two types: The ones that like Drones because it's Origin of Symmetry 2 and those who are the hardcore black holes/resistance/2nd law fans and loved simulation. And I'm the latter btw. The cool thing is that both like THIS
