- A loud noise that can be heard for several blocks coming from a steam plant is causing frustration and concern for many living in South Philadelphia.
The Vicinity Energy steam plant is located at 2600 Christian Street and stretches to Grays Ferry Avenue.

This is what happens when hipsters who demand "renewable energy" move next to the steam plant in Gray's Ferry that manufacturers "renewable energy. "
Smdh that plants been there…don’t buy a house near it if your going to have an issue….that areas too tight anyway
Reminds me of the yuppies that moved to town, next to the pig farm, and then complained about the smell and wanted it shut down. Some people are very entitled.
The same idiots that vote for Biden and claim "diversity" is our strength yet CUT and RUN to the suburbs when their indoctrinated leftist kids are old enough to go to the Philadelphia public school system, lol 😆,
That's been around forever
often, sounds can be deflected up into the air and-or muffled. Ambient sounds in a house help also.
I wonder if it’s above the allowable decibel level according to whomever the regulating agency is for such matters…
There IS such a thing.
Whats going on is everything i philly is out dated!
If it's not guns and police it's this steam plant. What's next??
I think voting for a one party Leftist Democrat rule with radical District Attorneys like Larry Krasnor for ANOTHER 60 years will improve that pesky 600 murders a year record homicide rate. And then just blame Trump and "guns" despite nearby municipalities outside the city with the same amount of guns (per capita) have ZERO murders. Anything but the truth will work for a Biden voter 😅
Wait so loud noises is the problem... Not the shooting outside their house... really!
earplugs
🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♀️
Neighbors should ask around for an engineer with a background in steam plants, measure the decibel rates, and document any increase, and also hire a third party energy auditor to make an ariel assessment using drones.
It appears that the steam is coming from the roof top between exhaust pipes. May indicate a broken pipe in the plant that may lead to a catastrophic failure, as it has at this facility in the past.
Wonder what the local sound ordinance is for this neighborhood.
Let's see if, or when the local law enforcement shut down a block party because of music playing, and what the actual decibel rating is that justifies shutting down a community event in this neighborhood.
Basic stuff that doesn't need to wait on the company to address.
They have apparently had steam pressure explosive events at that facility, according to this news piece.
I drive past here everyday to go home from work and oh my God the noise is so bad I feel sorry for whoever lives near there.
Did you say white noise? ;) I used to have a white noise machine to quiet passersby outside my apartment.
Probably not even steam,, what are they really releasing into the air?,,,,🤔
Steam…. That’s what they produce….
A BAD MAIN STEAM VENT
