Hey Friends! Welcome
In today’s video I’m sharing with you how I helped transformed my friend @xylafoxlin newly rented garage into a bright and functional workshop. Because Xyla is renting but has a one year lease, we wanted to try and do as many renter friendly things as possible, and we ran all the other ideas by her landlord in advance for approval. We started by giving the garage a really good cleaning then painted the rafters of the garage with white paint. We opted to not insulate the walls … I KNOW!… I’m sure I’ll hear about it in the comments. But we didn’t insulate. After we put the walls up (without the insulation) we painted the walls white and hung wallcontrol on the areas that we wanted to hang tools. Once the walls were addressed we tackled the floors. The rear section of the shop has some weird floor damage to the concrete that the landlord didn’t want to fix at this time. So we opted to put down a product by Armorall that’s similar to carpet but made for garages. The front section of the garage we used Rustouleum Epoxy shield with extra paint chips and sealed it with the clear epoxy coating. When Xyla moved in there was an old wooden work bench that needed a lot of love and that we did, we gave it a little bit of a face lift and upgraded wheels along with new hardware. We spent a day going through her other sheds on her property to clean up and organize her materials and tools. Once we gathered everything she wanted to use and keep, we started to place them though out the workshop. Xyla treated herself and got a cabinet grade table saw by Saw stop and a Laguna band saw, and they both look great in the shop. We added lights from Ensenior lights sold on Amazon and we spread them evenly through the shop. They’re plug and play making it easy for her to take them with her later if need. We hung some of her memorabilia and awards around the shop for décor. The over all outcome makes me so happy I love how her shop turned out and how she still has room to grow into it by it not being completely filled to the max.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this video in the comments. Unless it’s about the insulation... Just kidding I love hearing how we should have added it.

HELL YES BEST FRIEND!
😉
Everyone needs a Lindsay in their life. Everything she touches is gold.
Ahhhh that means a lot!!! Thanks friend
That table trick with naming most to least important is something i will definitely use at some point in my life!
Indeed, it is a thing well worth making note of.
It makes it so much easier, especially if you have other people helping because they can ask what category it is and they can put it on that table
Came over from Xylas video, had to watch this one too, what a transformation!
Thanks friend
Thank you.
You are a great friend to Xyla Lindsay, and you ladies did a great job on her space
Thank you so much friend
Came over here from Xyla's video. I like what you did here. I'm going to have to check out more of your videos.
Thanks friend
The white ceiling it the cherry on the pie. Simple but great idea!
Thanks friend
I liked and subscribed. You did such a great job helping Xyla. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Thank you so much friend
LINDSAY - you are a genius machine!!! it is SO fun to watch you work, and you just absolutely smash it every single time whilst radiating such joy. i'm so glad that you and women like you exist in this world! WHOO!!
Well thank you Shelly! That means the world to me!
You are the QUEEN of shop make overs! LOVE!❤️
Why thank you so much friend
You're so bloody talented!
You and Xyla are a great and unstoppable team!
Thanks friend
That pegboard is exactly what i was looking for!!! Thankyou!
It’s amazing
A ONE YEAR LEASE? Lucky landlord.... That's quite an improvement.
We think so, thanks for watching and commenting
Great to help your friend.
Thanks friend
Wow. You really get suited up for paint! My go to is shorts, sunglasses, and an old Giant's hat...
Also... "Specialty Cuts".. we call those "don't fuck this up" cuts lol. Both of you are awesome!!!
What can I say I like to walk away clean when I get into my truck to drive home
But then I also messed them up 🫣😆
Measure twice. Cut twice anyway… been there. Done that lol.
Girl you did amazing 😵😵😱
Thank you so much friend
In Xyla's video she joked you were the Marie Kondo of garage organization. As a packrat and chaos-brain I think this is a needed genre; honestly I found very little in Kondo's book to carry over well to garage workshops. Instead of "spark joy" I decided to ask of each tool or material supply, "does this need to be here for the job(s) I'm trying to do in this space?" Of course I'm always trying to do too many different jobs in the same space, but at least the question eliminates items that aren't related to any current project. I also like to watch Adam Savage's videos; he gives the advice, "there's always more room in the Z axis." My reply is, yes but, what if you're a short person!?
I also feel like all the space in my brain spatially holds weight so even in the X and Y access that space holds weight … so if it’s not something I’m using in the next six months i should get rid if it and purchase it if I need it in the future.
We all need a friend like Lindsay to lend a hand!
Ahhh thank you friend, that means a lot
Great video. If we all had your energy and smarts we would have solved the climate crisis, poverty and cancer. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Ahhh thank you friend! That means a lot!
Seriously if this was a service I would love it. I have been meaning to re-organize my shop forever. Lindsay you are amazing and just able to do what I think many people can't. I also love the fact that you go over other things that Xyla didn't. It was like watching two different projects, but really just two different stories/perspectives.
Glad you enjoyed them both! Thanks for watching friend
@@wood_brain Thank you for the entertainment, motivation and ideas!

Well thank you so much that means a lot
I need you to come work on my shop with me. You're so good at this!
Morgan don’t threaten me with a good time!
You did a fantastic job with this garage. Good job!
Thank you friend
Xyla said you're cool. (And I've been following your adventures through Xyla's Instagram stories, so I agree)
Well thank you friend
Looking good. I was so excited to finally have a garage. Started buying tools, made a huge work bench, started some projects. Then I got kicked out and am now homeless with no garage. Very sad. Had to get rid of a lot of tools, and everything else is in storage. One day I’ll have a garage again.
I’m so sorry to hear that. Keep positive and strong you will definitely have that garage of your dreams again soon!
It looks SO GOOD!!!! 😍😍😍
Thanks friend
Good job! What a great friend you are!
Ahh thank you
@@wood_brain I was wondering why she chose not to install the vise that was on that workbench after the bench was rstored. Do you know?
@@craigmooring2091 There’s a huge section missing / broken off of the back top section and we’re both not sure that it’s salvageable or worth fixing so we held off for now in order to get the video out and she’s going to readdress that at a later time
@@wood_brain Thanks. That explains it. I couldn't see that in the brief shot in the video.
Me, looking at the thumbnail: Is that Xyla?
You, the moment the video starts: This is Xyla.
😆 that’s funny
I love the cabinets
Right so much storage space
Please give us more. You're great video explaining what you were doing is missing context. I know it would make the video longer but I think it would really help to have more of the "why" of the story. (Though I guess it could be in other videos?)
I’ll definitely take that into consideration for future videos thank you for your input and thank you for watching I really appreciate it
I'm here and subscribing because Xyla told me to. She can be scary-intense sometimes. It's easier to just follow her "suggestions". That, and I love your channel!
Good choice Bob always follow her “suggestions” 😝
Amazing!🤯
Thanks friend
Great job !
Thank you
you're a miracle worker. a project like this needs a friend like you. got a new sub from me... you've got great energy

So nice and inspiring. I’m going to clear out my garage just like you said! And any other inspirations are more than welcome. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Scott … you got this!!! keep me updated on your progress.
Nice! This was a heck of a transformation! You can blame her for you getting another subscriber.... lol
Thank you so much Mark
You girls are awesome!!
Well thank you so much Patrick
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! Extremely well done (work and video). I'm totally flabbergasted and really, really impressed how much hard work lightweight girls like you two are able to do. I definitely didn't expect this (simply because of the fact, that I'm a 6.24" tall, big bear type guy).
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to both of you.
Well thank you so much that means a lot!
@@wood_brain
You're welcome, it's my pleasure.

Amazing amazing jog, wow, that was one complex project and the end result looks awesome wow 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much friend
Y'all's efforts added a whole lot of light and life to that space. And I'm pretty sure much fun was had in the doing of it. 👩🔧👷♀
Thanks friend
I just came over from Xyla, i'm looking forward to see what kind of content you make. Subbed
Thank you so much Lars.
I watched this on Xyla's recommendation from her own video of it. It's inspiring and encouraging to me to see this transformation (and so-practical committed friendship!), so thank you both!
Well that’s just made my day thank you so much so glad you enjoyed it
Like and subbed. You ladies crushed this project!
Thank you so much friend.
Absolutely amazing. You did an awesome job.
Thank you so much friend
Fantastic garage shop makeover. I got a lot of great ideas from your video. Thanks so much for sharing. I’ll be painting my 2 car garage ceiling white like yours.
Heck yeah! Do it!!!! Thanks friend
Xyla Fox Lin bin listening to Madonna,,,, Strike a pose, There's nothing too it, Grab the wood and lets get to it.
Ahhh love it!
Beautiful work! I aspire to 1/10th the enthusiasm and organization.
Thanks friend
Dude! You're freakin' amazing! You're a beast. If I only had half your brain power... 👍🙌
Ahhh thank you friend
Epoxy flooring is beautiful but has 2 problems so watch out for it. 1. if it gets wet it is slippery, if it gets soap or oil on it it is extremely slippery. 2. if you drop a small screw or other piece of hardware it blends in with the spots and it very hard to find.
Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it. Also thanks for watching and commenting.
I wish you lived near me. I’d pay you to come do this. I could never afford what it would it should cost, but I can dream. 😻
I believe in you friend! You could totally do it
I am only asking for diagnostic reasons - Does all the selfie cam footage have major tearing in the middle on this video or is my video card stroking out hard?
For the content creator, you two killed it. I discovered Xyla today and watched all her videos. This shop make over led me to you. I will certainly be spending some time watching your content.
Keep it up! 😎
Thank you for the heads up. I’m gonna go back and double check my camera footage. Maybe it does. I definitely use two different types of camera while shooting. Glad you enjoyed it.
Shop - nice!
Editing - fantastic!!
Quick, Crisp, Informative. I guess I would call the back of house details (unseen) which puts your work/video over the top. Very enjoyable for this viewer - I’ll get out of here and go subscribe.
So glad you enjoyed it!
I gotta get some of those Tyvek jumpsuits and lay down some paint on my garage walls, they could definitely use a freshen. Would love to pick up on whatever tips you have for putting shop/garage spaces in order and keeping up with the process of organizing. I've got homeowner level amounts of stuff, kind of afraid it would be two weeks solid minimum to do this kind of intense re-org.
They’re the best I absolutely love them and reuse the same one over and over again
Hi Lindsay! You did an amazing job with Xyla and her shop. How were you guys able to get lighting and wall control donations? They really made the space functional.
Thank you so much friend. I reached out to them and made a relationship with them
I liked and subscribed because no insulation !
Your my kind of people !!!!
You should open a channel on organizing stuff :)
Love that idea!!!
Did you consider tearing down the storage closets and put up french cleats to add some floor space?
We did, however she’s renting the property so we had to leave them there. In the end it work out for additional storage.
Xyla. Are you sure it defaulted to pink or was that just your subconscious 😂
😆😆😆
Arguably, by adding the 'walls' you've created air pockets, which are themselves insulation...
Good to know 👍🏽
I'm wondering if you couldn't compact like an inch or two of sand with a damp-proof membrane then lay OBS taped off seams, waterproof and epoxy finish?
That’s a good idea
Would we assume the owner loves the paint .and it can stay??
Yes
